I am feeling the shittiest I have ever felt, since the advent of this ill fated pandemic.

One of my friend, is suffering from mucormycosis since last 15 days. He is not just a friend, but more than that. In common parlance, he is my ‘langotiya yaar’. After suffering from a very severe covid, he was diagnosed and operated for the fungus on the same day. But the fungus remerged a week ago. He was again operated for same. And when we thought he is on track to recovery, last evening, he suffred a nightmarish brain stroke. Since then, he is on ventilator, diminishing all the little progress he made for his recovery.

It is the feeling of helplessness, which is taking a toll on my psyche. I am here miles away from him. Though remotely we did everything we could do to help him. Coordinated with his family. Chased leads for the live saving drug, raised funds for his operation, made sure he receives best of the treatment possible in his vicinity. But after his last evening’s brain stroke, and he being lying in a semi conscious state, I am at the inflection point of breakdown.

I don’t feel like doing anything. I wish I could have persuaded him to take the vaccine. I wish we could return to our campus once again, to cherish the common memories associated there. I wish I could give him a tight hug.

Dear all, I have no other avenue to pen down my thoughts, thus I chose this platform.

Beg, Borrow, or Steal, but please get vaccinated. Despite all the shortages, even if a single dose is up for grab in your district, make sure that you  (or your near or dear ones) get that slot. The unseen affect of taking a jab tabhi samajh aata hai, jab aapda ghar ke chaukath pe khadi hokar, yamraaj wali dastak deti hai.

Hope is the only thing I can bank upon. Hope my friend returns...

I feel very sad reading this. Just the thought if it makes me uneasy. How many more fights do we have to fight? First Covid and now Black Fungus. It is a tough time indeed.

My prayers go to your friend and his family. You also take care and be positive. It is all we can do.

Do DM me if you feel to talk about anything. I'm all ears.

And yes, everyone, please get Vaccinated.

Hey everyone - this probably doesn't relate to the thread but I didn't know where else to post this.

I'm looking for some good topper essays on gender related topics so as to collate some good ideas/points which I can then use.
Does anyone know any such essay which I can look at?

@12432TrivendrumRajdhani Hi, very sorry to hear that about your friend. I too have a langotiya yaar, I can't imagine happening anything to her and I can totally understand your pain your agony . This has been a very hard time for all of us but please keep strength in these hard times and give strength to your friend.

Do whatever you can to help him/her in these times , WHATEVER you can do and keep the strength. You have shown strength all the while , show some more. All my prayers for recovery of your friend. And take care of yourself and his family too. :)

Some suggestions regarding preparation of GS Paper II (Polity & IR) are needed.

I gave my previous two mains by reading Vision Mains 365 and a little writing practice. My scores were 81 & 86 in Paper II.

I think i have reached plateau as far as vision mains 365 is concerned. This time i want to try something different, so far i am following issue based preparation as suggested by@Neyawn  but it is so demanding (notes preparation & a lot of reading from different sources) plus it is not generating confidence as it should be (may be upcoming AWFG 2.0 could help).

So friends if you could give some valuable suggestions it would be highly appreciated.

Also upcoming attempt will be my last attempt. :(

But issu based preparation is the way to go. It took me a long time to realise this. Some of the best candidates who “predictably” get ranks ( as opposed to people who get ranks ) after strategising and all , have made crisp notes of issues.

I mean some people have cleared the exam just because of this. They earlier had the strategy of reading stuff end to end like we do for prelims.

But Mains requires you to answer only one question on a certain issue, so prepare accordingly.

People who have the habit of reading things back to back ( prelims hangover ) make tremendous progress once they switch the approach .

@Pureheart Have you tried by noting down just 5-7-9 things of each dimension on any issue ?

You can begin with that. If you have dearth of time, take up some classes if possible.  It reduces the time taken to prepare.

Also please have an incremental approach . Don’t try to have perfect notes on Day zero.

@Neyawn  sir, can you have a look at my issue based notes of any subject if they're fine? I consolidated GS notes during dec-feb period, just wanted a review since you've emphasized a lot regarding issue based notes.

@12432TrivendrumRajdhani if everybody had friends as true as you the world would be such a happy, secure place. I am seeing some of my most beloved friends go through hell. In times like these it helps to remind ourselves how lucky we are to even have people in life whose pain we feel as though it is ours. Sending you strength. You and your friend will get through this. You deserve all the peace and happiness in the world.

Sure, you may share it here itself.

there are few best practices of issue based notes.

  1. They should be less than a page or so
  2. They should have some keywords/ facts
  3. They should be rough, and not pretty
  4. They should not have stuff that you already know and have internalised
  5. When in doubt focus on having 3/5/7 dimensions of the debate

If u r reading this, I wanna warn you, there is nothing informative and nowhere related to the topic of the thread. I am just venting out my emotions, as I really need to.

Insecurity scares me. Life is outrunning me, as i stand exactly where i was 4 years ago. If a day doesn’t go good enough, i spiral down in self doubt.

Have I asked too much from life?

Should I have compromised and stuck with the job, while quitting which i felt “I am at the top of the world. I am gonna live my dreams. I am gonna serve my country.”???

Am i a fraud to my parents, didi or even to myself???

Idk how people see light at the end of the tunnel, where i see only darkness. I know there is a dawn after every dark night, but this ruthless darkness is making me restless. I see only uncertainty ahead.

1st attempt: full of energy, confidence, cleared pre, was not prepared for mains.

2nd attempt: Covid got me & my whole family just 45 days before pre (1st wave). All recovered, but I couldn’t study due to post covid symptoms.

Flunked prelims.

3rd attempt: confidence nahi aa rha hai. Doing everything this time from my end, yet the insecurity kills me from inside.

Fear of failure has overpowered almost everything in my life. I have complicated my relationship with my girlfriend due to this exam (similar to what Abhilash did in Aspirants. But unlike him, I realised my mistake and am really sorry for what i did. Yet patchwork is a patchwork.) Genuine khushi nhi mil rhi hai zindagi me.

Here I've uploaded my economics notes. I scanned them few months ago, that's why these might cover some 80-90% of the portion.@Neyawn  if you can share some feedback?

Also, if anyone wants to refer these can do so. Made these notes after referring to 2-3 sources parallelly.

I personally feel.. This is a platform for not just sharing strategies and info, but it is also a  sort of therapy group. Always feel free to share your fear, grief, insecurities..

I also experience the emotions you are writing about. Anxiety hits me at nights. There are a variety of things that trigger my self doubt. It has been 3 years, since I entered this cycle. You haven't asked too much from life. The only thing you can do is keep moving towards the end of this tunnel. I feel that my empty words might not help you much, but I am just trying to say you are not alone. Maybe that may reduce the worries (human nature).

I know this exam is full of uncertainties, but isn't life too?

Genuine khushi ka toh even I don't know. But I think it is something internal, not external. Keep trying, maybe you will achieve it.

This is my third attempt as well. Every day, I disappoint myself and then start the next day with optimism and end it with pessimism. :D But I try to continue. You also weigh your situation and decide accordingly.

And feel free to ping..

4 years into prep, 3rd attempt this time as well. I to don't even have a job to go back to and COVID has had a tremendous impact on my family. You are not alone bhai. We will sail out of it. Time lagega, but will sail out of it.

We do not need to find the light at the end of the tunnel right away, we just have to walk north, light will be visible soon. All the best! :)
