It can be a good example of potential conflict of interest. Also, the last point he raised regarding election scheduling might have actually happened recently. Hope this generates a positive discussion on election commission reforms in the country.
However, only doubt I have from this video is, What was the need of mentioning 'encounter data' in weighing neutrality aspect of an election commissioner ? Even after mentioning this aspect, I think his argument would have been more holistic, if he also mentioned about similar percentage of encounters of Dalits in state to show skew nature of encounters towards weaker sections.
Anyway, my 'positive approach rakh yaar' maxim says, 21 months cooling-off period may be a silver lining, considering the cooling-off period of an eminent personality when he was nominated for RS seat sometime back. :p

EiChan,i think such kind of controversies should be avoided. it's only a potential conflict of interest and the EC may actually turn out to be more competent and fair at the end, yet why take such risks..Caesar's wife must be above suspicion! that too at a time when there's already a widespread belief that ECI has not played its constitutional role, and there are concerns over fidelity of election process itself. How many of the people here wrote 4 page answers to the last few questions given in GS 3 in Mains 2020 (and 2019 for that matter)?
Were you able to complete the paper satisfactorily?
I wasn't able to, barring a couple. The ones in which I was able to fill 4 pages were using diagrams.
I was able to complete the paper, but wasn't satisfied with the way I attempted 15 markers in general.
