Hello dostoen, anybody here who can’t sleep at night before Prelims ? Please share what you do ?In last two prelims, I couldn’t sleep. Like in 2019, my sleeping pattern was totally in shambles. A week before prelims, just 3-4 hours of sleep daily in afternoon, that’s it. All sleepless nights. A night before Prelims, I was watching ‘comedy scenes on YouTube’. In the morning I took heavy caffeine and got through easily in Paper 1, but by the time of CSAT, there is no energy left to sit there for 2 hours, I feel all sleepy, mind doesn’t work at all. Hence, CSAT on borderline. In 2020 Prelims, every night I got sound sleep except the night before Prelims. I could sleep only at 4 in the morning when I plugged in earphones for ‘sleep hypnotize’ videos on YouTube. 2-3 hours sleep was enough but again by the time of CSAT, I feel so tired. Again, CSAT on borderline. Now again, I am sure History will repeat itself. If anybody can offer some good practical personal solutions, it would be great : )Regards.
This helped me a lot, it's a YouTube version of sleep meditation on Calm app.
Try to wake up by 7-9am, not even an hour later. 9am is the deadline if you're not morning person. If you did this then make sure you don't take afternoon naps. If at night, you can't sleep then try this deep sleep release. If properly done, you'll sleep even before the end i.e. within 10mins.
This year i tried that things fall in right place, i started sleeping early (by 10.30-11) ,3 months back from exam (with few exceptions).
Taking this habit of sleeping late to the last weeks before exam is a perfect disaster.
We cannot expect to change circadian rhythms of our body in one or few nights, even if we manage to get up on D day , but our mind will not perform with its full efficiency.
so best is to make most out of the remaining time before exam- keep this thing at high priority.
(p.s.- try to keep iris constant - it would male hard to think and eventually make you fall asleep)
Thank you@calvinhobbes and@AyushVashistha and fellow friends who messaged personally.
All insights are great !

I can relate.
What worked for me was running a white noise video on youtube by my side when going to sleep. I play it right by my side so that all other noises are automatically filtered. Choose which white noise works best for you and you will easily fall asleep.
And during daytime, keep yourself physically active so that by night, you start feeling tired and sleepy.
Some natural spices especially nutmeg when taken with milk will induce a deep sleep.
Ah, the anxiety and FOMO creeping in as days are closing by. How everyone is coping with it?
@SergioRamos Brother any advice on it?
@Rewl1 yes friend, looks like 2019 prelims had challenges other than exam for most. Thanks to lockdowns, upsc is not conducting prelims in summer time. Also, It’s been 21 days I’m doing meditation, I hope the habit will continue : )
@Dead Man yes, looking forward to caffeine free week and nap-less afternoons. Let’s see how it goes. Thank you for nutmeg, would introspect diet plans better way : )
Try Sangam Food.
