Hi,

Ranyo Ashoka, Himalayan nettle, Denisovan - Who would have thought of such random questions?

Creating this thread with the sole purpose of sharing facts that can be relevant for Prelims. While there is always this thought, that there is no end to learning and mugging up facts, but if we observe closely - the options are not very close and elimination is easy. By pooling our resources here, if we give it one reading also, the probability of retaining it on the D day and eliminating options increases exponentially.

I request the aspirants to actively contribute here and let's hope that we strike gold on 31st ;).

Sea Snota slimy layer of gray or green sludge that could endanger marine life and the fishing industry.

The substance, which is known as marine mucilage or "sea snot," forms when algae are overloaded with nutrients due to climate change and water pollution.

@upsc2020 does it have any specific geo-climatic dependency or can be formed in almost all of the oceans/seas?

The nutrient overload occurs when algae feast on warm weather caused by global warming. It is a typical warm water phenomenon.

@RAGNAROK district judge or additional judge may be removed from his office by the governor on conformation from the high court collegium.

@RAGNAROK As per law, no death sentence imposed by a trial court can be executed unless the punishment is confirmed by the High Court too and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) of 1973 requires trial courts to refer every judgement related to imposition of capital punishment to the jurisdictional High Court for confirmation.

Section 366(1) of the CrPC states: “When the Court of Session passes a sentence of death, the proceedings shall be submitted to the High Court and the sentence shall not be executed unless it is confirmed by the High Court,” and sub clause (2) of the provision adds that the death convict should be committed to jail custody until further orders to be passed by the High Court.

(i) Reduced production of liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Argon.

(ii) Reduced usage of gaseous oxygen thereby reducing steel produced.

Question can be -Gases produced in Steel Plants?
