Question: 47

Which of the following statements regarding Union Territories is incorrect?

b Union Territories of Delhi and Pudcherry are the only ones to have Legislative Assemblies.

Jammu and Kashmir?

Yes, there was a certain mistake in Q47. It has two incorrect statements. Please go through the following explanation :

Q47) Which of the following statements regarding Union Territories is incorrect?

a) India has eight Union Territories at present.

b) Union Territories of Delhi and Puducherry are the only ones to have Legislative Assemblies.

c) President can make rules and regulations for peace, progress and good government for Union Territory of Ladakh.

d) Provisions related to the failure of Constitutional Machinery regarding Puducherry are mentioned in the Constitution.

Ans) b and d

Exp)

Statement (a) is correct:Union Territories are: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, National Capital Territory of Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, Ladakh and Puducherry

Statement (b) isincorrect:Union Territories of Delhi, Pondicherry, and Jammu and Kashmir are having legislative assemblies. The provision for the Legislative Assembly for Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was provided under Jammu and Kashmir State Reorganisation Act 2019.

Statement (c) is correct:  As per Jammu and Kashmir State Reorganisation Act 2019 the President may make regulations for the peace, progress and good government of the Union territory of Ladakh under article 240 of the Constitution of India

Statement (d) isincorrect: Article 239Aprovides for the Legislative Assembly and a Council of Ministers for the Union Territory of Pondicherry and is silent on the failure of Constitutional Machinery. On the other hand for Union Territory of Delhi, Article 239AB provides for the failure of the Constitutional machinery.

@Thinker  Can you also please confirm Q - 72? The question on labour force participation. It appeared to me that the graph is inconsistent with the explanation, or am I interpreting something incorrectly?

There was a statement in a Q on widening food subsidy bill in the Budget/Eco Survey test:

"There has been a decrease in sale realization due to decline in average Central Issue Price for APL households"

If CIP is declining why will there be fewer sales, or am I not understanding the term "sale realization" correctly?

@Naadan_Parinda @rashiv Can you explain this?

CIP declined for APL because APL households were included under NFSA, where distinction between prices of cereals for APL and BPL were done away with.

Sale realisation declined because of diversification of food habits. Food expenditure increased for households.

May be I'm wrong.

@Naadan_Parinda @rashiv Can you explain this?

1.The CIP is declining because the categorization of APL and BPL are done away under NFSA and the Antyodaya CIP are uniformly applicable to all beneficiaries.

2. The sale realisation means getting money after selling a commodity. Its declining because the price of food grains is too less for getting any benefits from it. It is just 1/2/3 rupees for coarse grained, wheat and rice.

I think this is the reason for this question.

Another conceptual doubt in Economics: Why do Central government debt liabilities under External Debt head include External Commercial borrowings (ECB) of PSUs and private companies?

Its overall external commercial borrowings for India not for Central Govt. Central Govt borrows lesser than private companies for external markets.

@Naadan_Parinda Can you confirm?

Sale Realisation = Products Quantity Sold x Price per unit.

The lesser CIP implies more products sold.

However, the net result (that is the multiplication) decreases as the amount sold does not increase sufficiently enough.

Maybe this?

Simulator 8, Q - 11

As per Wikipedia (https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Narasimhavarman_I)

It says in the second paragraph, "Narasimhavarman I was also known as Mahamalla[2][3] (great wrestler)"

The Hindu article however is consistent with your answer.

Which is correct then?
