Optional 300 marks is good this time

And in gs-4 avg was 80 around
Was there any similar pattern last year ?

Gave last year Mains...gave this year too....Will be highly surprised if the cut-off crosses 750 this year
All the people who found GS1, 2 and 3 easy, hats off to you...But sadly in UPSC, sometimes our enthusiasm doesn't get reflected in our marks...So, it's better not to be too overjoyed or sad right now....Let's move on with our lives (easier said than done though)....Whatever is destined to happen, will happen...There are just too many variables...And we will all need a little bit of luck from now onwards

@shubh36gs-2 was unconventional; rest were fine i guess

@nikhilit20112751 last yr the inflation in gs3 marks was not as ridiculous as 2017...ethics was more or less same

@John_Titor750 is too less; 780 is min (if no drastic change in marking pattern)

I found GS1 and GS3 tough as well bhai...Some Q of GS3 were like either you know it or you don't....Found tough to beat around the bush in those Q....But yes GS2 was I guess the toughest of last 5 years...And any indivdiual who can write 3 pages on Attorney General, can do anything in life...

ya I also found 2019 comparatively tougher than last year. cutoff will hover around 750's

Seeing this year pattern, I strongly feel UPSC doesn't like high cut-offs...So, 750 is the upper limit...It can go much below than this as well...So bhailog, don't lose too much hope and don't be too depressed...
I have seen many people who were shit-scared after last year mains, scoring good ranks...On the other hand, people like me who were too excited and happy, didn't even clear mains....So, you never know with UPSC

@shubh36absolutely....ques like integrated farming,visvesvaraya,cyber dome,watershed type ques required specifics...i dnt think upsc would give much marks for writing some peripheral stuff....and like gs1 of last yr if they decide to toy with checking thn marks would reduce even more

@shubh36i know one guy who has written 3 pages in attorney gen; but it was certainly not the cup of tea for us mortals
Khair in the end every thing boils down to essay , ethics and optional ; baaki me to har serious candidate ke almost same range me aa jaate hain
