Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

Things to do before result is published :

1. Prepare a stock of questions and their answers (in interview mode).
2. Prepare questions like "why civil services".
3. Make a note of historical and geographical facts about your city.
4. Short note on data like poverty, hunger, education, water scarcity etc.
5. Burning issues like Article 370, police encounters, citizenship etc and opinion on them.
6. The Way you think about yourself influence how you look. Better work on our thoughts.
7. A peaceful and calm mind.

As Knowledge is already tested in pre and mains so i think we need to focus in these key points during UPSC interview

1. Be confident ....take stand instead of being too diplomatic
2. give respect to the members of the board ( They hv served the nation for more than 30 years in their respective Domain )
3. if u r not aware about the answer just say.....I am sorry ...sir i can't answer but i will try to learn
4. Answer to the point ( be specific ...don't bluff )
5. voice must be moderate ...neither too loud nor too low
6. Be HUMBLE ( humility is tested by ur response of any answer )

yar all excitement about the mains result eroded and leached away ....

can anyone tell me here what is the case related to EWS in CAT ....is it genuine reason for delay in result.

@DKTPoints noted. These are do's and don'ts for interview. What do you think about the opinions on topics? Should they be on the line of government action?

@DKTThere are n number of theories floating. Some say its because of protest and internet blockade, some say about ews. One aspirant on telegram said "maine itna achhaa answers likha ,shayad rechecking ke kaaran delay ho raha hai". Simply put it, we dont know.

@BehemothTelegram group is itself an psc. Upsc chairman there saying, if results are not out by today, he wish to leave telegram.

@Reality-transurferIts funny man. How lucky are we to have chairman himself giving updates.

The PDF that has been floating around since 3-4 days is that real or fake?? Some say that is leaked PDF

case by case.....but i will surely take my stand with logical arguments.
like Telangana encounter ....my stand is that prompt action like this encounter is not the long term solution....we need to sensitize police. judiciary at district level must work fastly...there should be deadline for cases of heinous crimes in Fast track courts too. Media must be responsible etc.

so, i will take stand in all issues depending on the nature of the case

UPSC essay topic...biased Media .....this topic shows that UPSC wants rational people with positive attitude. new civil servant must have courage to take stand on given situation during decision making.

@DKTYes you are right. Some say that in interview, opinions should be on the line of goverment action. We can differ but I think it should not be 180 degree contrary to that of government.

@marxOnce given in essay, you'd write 1000 words essay on "How to counter fake news". Bhai, even if you believe its real, you must counter with full force that its fake and convince others that its fake because the result is not yet declared officially. How small our heart is that a fake pdf creates tremors inside us. We should be little fearful of the original one to be released on UPSC website. All the best.

@DKTB there is/are enquiry committees looking after genuineness of facts surrounding the incident happened. To give an opinion about particular incident of Hyderabad, we can wait for committee report. And if we take into account big picture surrounding this incident, first we need to be honest with ourselves. Majority portion of society celebrated this incident as one glorious event. We need to be honest that reforms are needed. As in Investigation, judiciary etc. This will bring the culture of justice and respect for it in society. Though justice sometimes delays, but encounter like immediate action (except event which are unsuspecting) should not have place in our constitutional democracy.

@Reality-transurferBut sometime system should be shaken and by this incident system shaked. Judiciary bureaucracy all started thinking so should we oppose this particular incident or not??? I know its not long term solution but its paved the way for further reforms

@marxSystem derives its power from legal acts. Encounters are not permitted as per present law of land. The current incident happened so many cases of encounter , where law enforcement agency acted to protect themselves or protect some legally permitted interest. So rather than what is stand of government we should concern about what the law of land permits and what it doesn't. No form of government at anytime given written permission to indulge its law enforcement agency to indulge in such acts. No government takes the responsibility of act, this shows it. Justice should only happen in legally permitted ways and not other way round. And to ensure justice, we need reforms to ensure its robustness, integrity in both letter and spirit.

Can we expect the result today? Called UPSC but no one picking up.

reality of human as an social animal is that.....during fear and threat our mind easily believe in rumor and we rarely believe in facts and objectivity.
those who believe in fake PDF ....i want to say that this PDF is Ashwathama Elephant not Ashwathama the son of Drona.

but reality is that even during Mahabharat even guru Drona believed in fake news orated by Yudhisthir and Kaurav lost the Drona and war as well ....same as UPSC mains aspirants belive in fake PDF

so guys plz find out if this pdf is Ashwathama Elephant or Ashwathama the son of Drona.

@marxCan't believe people are still arguing over that fake pdf. Fake hai wo. Issi thread pe chale jao hum logo ne 10+ proofs diye hai ki why it is fake.
