I am thinking of joining GS Advance Programme Coursealong with RBI prep.

Already a month late; It gets over in March

I had a content issue in mains not a speed issue

Any inputs ? Or anyone who has enrolled in it.

Did you have a background in economics or finance ?

Also please share your strategy for the exam :)

@Darvey78 I don’t have any background in economics/finance.
RBI economics is mainly current affairs oriented where you need to mug up data (a lot) and theory portion can be easily managed by UPSC aspirants.

Finance and management are the easiest of the lot whether or not you are from that background. It is mostly static and easy to understand + No numericals since last few years.

https://skidha.home.blog/batch-of-2022-strategies-and-journeys/ Me and some of my batchmates have written their strategy in this blog, hope it helps. :) since it is not associated with any coaching, I think it’s the most unfiltered version of preparation strategy.
You can always ask in case you have any other query. :)

People who couldn't qualify mains , we can discuss about the issues faced in gs papers if anyone wishes to here.

I can list a few issues which I have analyzed inhindsight

1. Was not able to replicate the content of my notes (Dipin sir's classes, also other notes I made, and Ayush sir's Ethics classes) in the exam. I used it in many places but could have done it more considering the time and effort I put into those classes.

eg. Shadow pandemic could have been used in WFH question GS 1

2. The exam pressure got to me and I did not pause and think about what to write. I used to do that in Test series on most occasions. I managed exam pressure decently in Prelims. So I should've been able to do it in Mains too. Even though there are only 7/11 minutes to write the answers, we can think and write. There is much more time than we think there is. We should focus on the PROCESSas Dhoni says. I have paid the price for not adhering to it.

3. Use of writing space could have been more judicious. Many 15 markers were 2.25-2.5 pages. Don't know if that was an issue.

4. Conclusions could have been more futuristic and way forward type. I unnecessarily went away from it 5-10 days before the exam. I wrote more of two line summary in paragraph form which clearly doesn't seem to have worked for me.

5. Better time distribution among questions. Wrote 2/3 10/15 markers in 3-4 mins in almost every paper. (But these were mostly questions that I had no idea of)

6. Could have used data, diagrams, graphs and maps a lot more. (It's simple: If we don't do it someone else will and get the edge)

7. Needed to give more time to prepare GS1 Society. More quality content would have helped my cause.

8. Attempting questions which I have no idea of in a better manner (Eg. IMD colour codes, lion bull, French-Indian President)

@dravidpujara Did you find only Dipin Sir's classes sufficient for mains? This year I only used of his classes and. did not refer to Mains 365etc. and felt that coverage was lacking.

Also felt that Geography needs to be prepared properly and now I feel only the 11th/12th NCERT is not sufficient. If you have any suggestions, please let me know

I resolved the Ayush sir notes issue.
I was initially unable to replicate as well. Especially that toolkit was a pain.
I instead rewrote those notes and compressed it
Will post some photos.
