This exam is way too arbitrary to be a mainstay of my life now.

2nd attempt. Getting around 96, may or may not qualify. CSAT check karne ki himmat ni hai. Jo bhi ho, I’m kinda done with all this.

Those who qualify, give it your all in mains - not just with the objective make it to the final list, but maybe more to avoid having to sit another prelims of this kind.

What are you planning post this?

I'm in similar boat as you

I have no clue right now. And to add to that, being from a non tech background, it’s not like I have many (or any) fallback options either :/

Quite a pickle. ☹️

I am going to give this one more try. A last try.

Don't give up man, do it for Troy.

@Dalinar expect lowest cutoff this year..it was random and confusing paper...but this kin of papers makes a mockery of hardwork put..sadly

I'm getting 94 but still lost all hopes of making it to the list.

Well the question is 94 as per whose key ?

If you will get 94 as per UPSC , no one can stop you from writing mains.

Mere 94 aa rhe h ias baba ki key se. 3 saal se mera score lag bhag yahi rha. No improvement whatsoever. Ab Hamse Na HoPayega. Ab pre mei ho bhi gya to bhi job k saath hi karunga.

Career k L*** lag gye h in coaching vaalon ki badi badi baato ko seriously lekar.

Jo preparation start kr rhe h, meri advice yahi h ki ”mat karo start, bina 1 saal job kiye bagair”.

Koi computer science ka graduate h to please batao, sabse jaldi job software tester k alava kisme lagti h?

While people are getting variations of 10-15 marks, my marks are varying by 5-6 only by different keys

On a serious note if I clear prelims, I will be happy, if not I will be more happy. Gave this exam nearly 3 years after quitting Job. Now I want to have some economic stability and some fun which I clearly didn't have in these years.

Did my near best, glad that easy questions aren't wrong as I was giving second thought to them in exam. And yes Cricket and Olympics questions are correct, otherwise my 7-8 days to Olympics and 5 days to WTC final would have been such a waste.

Just a thought. If you guys are comfortable, can we create a doc kind of thing to put our marks based on different keys ? I am sure that many of the candidates writing 2021 mains are on this platform.

Since, many of us have got our marks in the range 90-98, I feel cutoff will be here only. With many data points, one will be more sure of their chances and not waste next 2~3 weeks.

And if such a doc is prepared, leony bhai ko access nhi doonga main usme change krne ka :p

Anything above 90 is game on. If you are in your early attempts you shouldn't waste time on such thoughts. Even in the case you don't make it , these 4 months is the only time you will get to amend your mistakes , to course correct, and to fortify your mains prep. So regardless of result , every serious candidates has just one option in front of him - Mains prep.

Ha, bro. I can go one more year. But I'll have to figure out a way out of this prelims thingy first.

@prachimalik1121311 Don't pay heed to these coaching keys., You know how credible they are...committed judiciary seems to be best fit for that question...

Scoring 60.something (Shankar Key)

To be true didn't study seriously this year. Have to support family now as well. Can't just keep gambling on this. So was pretty busy till the last day of the exam.

Last year scored 100 something. But lost in Paper II by 1.18 marks.

I’ll give more attempts too. But I can’t just go on an year to the next basing my life around prelims. Mains tak ka padh liya hai sab but what’s the point.

Add to that being cut off from so many things, putting so many things on hold for this exam. That I feel is no longer sustainable.

It’s been 2 years like this ab.

Bhai, committed judiciary is a specific term. It doesn't have very democratic connotation.

I had actually planned to move and join a year long test program in Bangalore for 2022. This was even before prelims. So, my plans are well intact. Only that I thought I would be also writing Jan ka mains.

Ha, I can't even enjoy simple things without guilt. UPSC always hangs around. Even my communication with people around me are so much painted with UPSC.

Ha, I can't even enjoy simple things without guilt. UPSC always hangs around. Even my communication with people around me are so much painted with UPSC.

My best friend left for Canada 3 weeks before exam and we couldn’t even meet properly because I thought I should prioritise my exam.

And now I might not see him for an year or two. Infact, I’ve not even talked to him since he landed because that’s how blinded I was with this whole prep.

Now all my friends are elsewhere and I don’t gel that much with old friends who’re still in the city because I’ve mostly been off the radar all this while. So, apart from everything else, loneliness is probably a new thing in the mix this time around.

I feel that UPSC wants us to read newspapers and magazines like Yojana and Science Reporter minutely the old-fashioned way, without relying on compilations. I feel that is the only way to deal with this randomness.
