@Jakeparelta and high pressure means higher temp , no?

@RaGa yes, temp and pressure are correlated

1. Temperature of flames affects the temperature inside cooker- high flame or low flame
2. Hole- affects pressure inside cooker-
3. Weight of lid affects the pressure inside cooker- heavier leads means more pressure inside cooker-

I thought weight of lid didnt count.. rather weight of the whistle should count. 😅😅

Zyada dimaag laga diya lagta hai.. 🤣

While people are getting variations of 10-15 marks, my marks are varying by 5-6 only by different keys

On a serious note if I clear prelims, I will be happy, if not I will be more happy. Gave this exam nearly 3 years after quitting Job. Now I want to have some economic stability and some fun which I clearly didn't have in these years.

Did my near best, glad that easy questions aren't wrong as I was giving second thought to them in exam. And yes Cricket and Olympics questions are correct, otherwise my 7-8 days to Olympics and 5 days to WTC final would have been such a waste.

I was busy cheering only for India, did not look for other things, toh 7-8 din bhi waste gaye aur answer bhi galat hogya.

same with me, but I knew about sports added and 1st statement it was hunch that "new world" can't be there as this Olympics was planned last year before corona struck so left that statement.

I can say I was lucky

in the third sports question I remembered F1 players getting that award most times, I was wrong :P

still net +ve in sports

fir bhi overall I am still in borderline case, these questions should have given me edge rather than pulling me to border area.

I don't think weight of the lid will count. The lid is there to handle the pressure inside. Let's say we make a pressure cooker with a material like Carbon fiber which is less heavy and similarly strong, it would work as effectively.

Now the sad part I am scoring 90 from IASBABA and 94 Vajiram. I mean what's wrong with IASBABA and Vajiram faculties, are they high on weed? Itta shi confidence aarha that barbaad krdia bethe bethe.

@AureliusM Exactly. I make popcorn not in pressure cooker but in open utensil, obviously I put plate over it. :p
Jokes apart, I think both above two options are right but the weight of lid isn't matter much or rather it doesn't matter at all.

Hey, Not out of the race till the results are out. After last year's answer key debacle, they should not be a standard to judge for one's qualification or not. They are so many moving parts here. The questions which are contradictory in the keys are definitely contentious. But at the same time, there are a few bouncers in upsc key here and there. Also, 90s seem to be a decent score by previous years standard.
So basically abhi thoda ho sake toh relax karo and then start building up the momentum for mains. Iss saal nahi toh agle saal toh likhna hai.
Baaki prelims ka question by question post mortem result aane ke baad kar lena. Kya pata zaroorat na pade:P

:D

Thank u for kind and hopeful words. Desperately needed at this point of time.

Qn ka post mortem coz i want to understand what more needs to go into clearing prelims. I don't see what I could have done differently to pass pre.

I have no clue right now. And to add to that, being from a non tech background, it’s not like I have many (or any) fallback options either :/

Quite a pickle. ☹️

And.

State PCS requires a lot of rote memorisation so I have never been interested in that. Aur upar se, I want to join the IFS so state PCS makes no sense and doesn’t excite me at all. But abhi it’s like I might have to take up something unwillingly 🤷🏻‍♀️

We underestimate human memory. There is definitely overlap of UPSC syllabus with state PCS. IFS requires a top rank in the final list. No harm at all in having high aspirations, just saying. If you are to take up something unwilling, state PCS would definitely rank higher than most other things you may do in life.

They have asked the temp at which the food is cooked and not the temp inside the pressure cooker. Aren't they 2 different things?

I think you are reading too much into the question there.

Regarding the pressure cooker question, I thought weight of the lid is always balanced by the rim. So it isn't exerting any downward force unlike the case of piston where its weight applies the counter pressure since that's movable.

Logically only hole in the lid should be the answer but I marked 1 and 2.

What a random paper... Upsc now wants people with rote learning abilities rather than analytical ones. State psc aspirants who are also preparing for cse would have found paper to be little easier than others.

The weight of the lid is balanced by the rim as well as the steam inside the cooker. Normal reaction force is exerted by any surface which has contact with the object. Your logic is correct but incomplete.

Take a break people! I think this really helps, I was so so sad yesterday, after which I went for dinner with family, some shopping and today planned a self-care session, cooking ( my hobby), talking with grandparents and friends and many more things.

I feel much better today and from tomarrow back in the game for some other exams which are lined up! Take care you people. Maybe I would post some khane ke pictures for all of you, which you all can drool over.
