[ Official ] How was the Prelims 2021 paper?

@Rambo93 dont think your coaching score is always gonna be 10 marks less than in actual. in 2020 all coaching insstitutions made common mistake like not saying india enjoyed trade surplus in international rtade etc. this year only 2 doubtful auestions rest are all factual so enjoy

This year only two doubtful questions? Hearing this for the first time since oct 10th

2. 6 month vote minister one, option a is wrong
3. india actully enjoyed current account surplus so that one went wrong for many
i cant remember but there were 2-3 more such questions. last time all of us had absolute blessings of coaching instutuins and so we didi not realise it as a result everyone got atleast 3 questions wrong in final key 3*(2+(2/3)) = 8
but many made more such errors

Last year i was in minority for these questions and my finals marks were more than that by coaching keys

you alongwith me are also in minotity this time in questions like chenab. but as they say common sense is not so common. ;D

ye dar mujhe bhi tha jiska coachings se 116 aa raha tha but final score 102 aaya. this time since 99 percent questions are not doubtful and clearcut hence you dont have to worry this time

@rawhull This time it feels like there are more doubtful questions. Last year also there were lots of doubtful questions but at least keys of coaching institutes were not varying much, iss baar toh 10 marks difference from one answer key to another seems normal.

Ews can see 80+ this time, many applied in ews this time so cutoff can shoot

EWS cutoff would be no more than 10-11 of general's I guess. This year definitely many would have filled the form. It would have gone to 4-5 like OBC, had CSAT been a little easy. But still, I guess any with 80+ minimum from 3-4 main keys would be safe. Someone posted the RBI cutoff of this year and EWS was very close to SC. Even when there is no CSAT there to reject them. Hope 2022 csat paper to be easy so that the obscure gap between gen and EWS could be minimised.

@rawhull frankly speaking i don't trust any coaching now, be it test series or answer key or mock interview. Everything coaching suggests is doubtful now.

You see for yourself once results are announced, there will be many shockers last time I got a message from a student saying sir galti se pre nikal gaya ab samajh nahi rha kya karu. That guy was scoring 85ish from shankar. Marks turned out to be 96.xx..

You never know. Have written 6 prelim, cleared 3 times, hopeful this time too. But every time new new scenario emerge..

That's the level of uncertainty. There are 7-8 questions whose answer is known to only one person ie whoever has framed that question. So how can anyone be sure.

Can anyone surely tell ita chenab or satluj?? No one can except the paper setter..

2018 there was a question on gst exempted list, there was a debate between 1 only and 1, 2 and 4...

My mentor who is in IRS customs was 100 percent sure that answer is 1 only. UPSC gave it 1,2 and 4.

Similarly, in 2017 ,right to vote question, people asked S Y Qureshi sir answer for this question on twitter, i remember some one posted a screenshot where he claimed the answer to be 'legal right 100 percent'. UPSC gave it as constitutional right. Imagine India's CEC and UPSC themselves were divided over what was to be right to vote in India. Just think if 2 constitutional bodies can't decide one factual question how can coaching and people here posting dumb research paper prove it otherwise.

And the matter of fact is everyone knows this, but no one accepts this.

Disclaimer: my views of coaching are strictly based on my experience of different test series and mock interviews i gave. Besides i myself was working in coaching industry, just recently left the job, as they make fool out of innocent people.. also i felt the way paper is designed there's very little coaching could offer.
