I read all the comments last year also but did not comment anything because I was naive back then...just beginning my journey into UPSC...

But since last year October to yesterday, I tried my level best. Have more than 120 mocks of vision, Forum, GSSCORE, OnlyIAS, NextIAS and what not . No day in last year I spent without studying 6 hours daily.(I'm a working professional)

Last year, I was getting around 88-95 from different answer keys but didnt clear prelims. As I opted for IFoS also last year so not even know what my actual score of last year is.

And now. Here I'm again. After a year of hardwork and doing everything I could possibly do, I'm getting 86.67 in most optimistic scenario. I'm from general category just because I choose to have a job to help my family overwise I would be EWS as my all family income and other criteria is very much at lower middle class level. I'm at my lowest right now.

It's easy to say that try next year and all that cherishable stuff, but I literally left no stone unturned this time. I even got 137 marks in NextIAS Anubhav All India test series had been under top 100 in my test series...but this time I'm literally heartbroken like hell...

See, prelims is no longer a matter of doing your basics well, reading and practicing. It is a PLAIN GAME OF LUCK. I am not denying the utility of essential material/Test Series/CAs magazines but it can only bring you closer to cutoff. For sailing through you need LUCK. You did your Karma, result is not in your hand. I know so many aspirants who are very capable but could not get a chance to write Mains due to this Prelims GAMBLE. To second you, my score in previous attempts have been 96, 95, 145, 90s(2021). So barring 145, scores have not improved. I call it GAMBLE! So my dear friend, just accept the gamble and move on. You are not alone!

What should be the answer of Indus river wala question?

In ncert, Sutlej is clearly drawn in map but coaching walas giving chenab as answer.

It was also asked to which river the other three join. Jhelum and Ravi clearly join Chenab so Sutlej can't be the answer. Again, this was my logic

The question clearly mentions the river which joins Indus. Chenab also seems correct if the other 3 are joining it, but it doesn't meet Indus. After CHenab and Satluj joins it is called Panjnad technically but is considered to be Satluj. I have marked Satluj but having alot of doubts regarding this.

@Sujaydubal I can relate to your situation. I had joined a reputed prelims test series in
2019. Used to be among first ten. Also solved tests from other coaching institutes. Ended up in scoring 87 that year.

There’s a great learning here. Number of mock tests and the scores in them is of no relevance for UPSC prelims. I was anguished at this rat race for scoring well in mocks and solving as many mocks as one can. The process never seemed organic with mains preparation.

Then I decided to abandon mocks completely. In 2020, I relied on bare minimum material. We all know the list. Revised it thrice before prelims. And most importantly, solved throughly previous year UPSC prelims papers from 2013 onwards. Used them not as a source of information but to acquaint myself with the pattern of upsc question papers. Focused on the language used in questions, the way options were framed, important areas which were asked repeatedly and so on.

Was scoring fairly well in those previous year upsc papers. Then few weeks before exam, I attempted all India mock test of one institute. Although I had abandoned coaching tests, I decided to go for it just out of curiosity. I was confident on my preparation by this time. But I scored 60 marks in that test. And the leftover trust on coaching tests was also lost the moment that result was released.

Went into exam hall with my lessons. Got 105 in 2020 as per upsc.
Again followed same process in 2021 and getting 102+.

Please save your precious efforts from falling pray to false propaganda of commercial institutes. It is a simple but obviously rigorous process. Give yourself time and have faith in yourself whenever you attempt the exam again.

Take a break people! I think this really helps, I was so so sad yesterday, after which I went for dinner with family, some shopping and today planned a self-care session, cooking ( my hobby), talking with grandparents and friends and many more things.

I feel much better today and from tomarrow back in the game for some other exams which are lined up! Take care you people. Maybe I would post some khane ke pictures for all of you, which you all can drool over.

Please give us food pictures

Lil easy to say when it was your first attempt. Not so when you're into second or third.

I felt the same like you previous year. Not so this year post exam.

Irrespective of the attempt, don’t see what fretting will bring now that the paper is done.

I recently unscribed all the videos on youtube related to civil services. From today only forum ias platform may be my colleague in future. I am enjoying my life with a great satisfaction , permanently employed and also side business of high return and a respectable name in my society as well as in relationships. I will serve society in a much intensive way as well as fully focus of my better half and our lovely kids. Forum ias platform remained my lovely friend during last few years. I already have many jewels in my career so no more need now . I also work there where we are specialized all over India. So better to listen. I also wishes all of you for a better life ahead alongwith civil services or any other life tasks. Who becomes civil servant I normally personally watch them when they come to my place. I talked personally many times. And finally got that the satisfaction is the other thing than civil services only. Yes of course civil services is a normal way to establish one in the society and to serve society if really serve in a better way than normal public. My best wishes to all of you again to shine in this world by your kind acts only. Keep patience and beleive in almighty God, definitely all will get success in life. I wrote this because I have no other platform of this intellectual types. I feel sorry if I hurt anyone by my words. All the best for your journey ahead.🙏🙏
