[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Tangent there are two types in which seats are divided - reserved category seats (ST, SC, OBC) and unreserved seats (these are not general category seats but are for anyone who falls in the merit that is, would get the same rank irrespective of reservation).
If a person qualifies any of the stage through reservation for ex - mains because of reservation and not as per the general mark list, they'd fall under reserved category. However, even if a person from reserved category qualifies all the stages with cut off for unreserved category, he/she will be considered under unreserved category.

So everyone and anyone has a claim on unreserved seats provided they score that high.

Also, the entire point of keeping some seats outside preview of reservation for not good reasons is unconstitutional. Lateral entry maybe possible but not this.

PS - haven't listened to the video.

@Tangent  Government will never RESERVE seats for lateral entry. Lateral entry are done on going to be VACANT/already Vacant seat or as a expert.  Already there is a deficiency of Civil Servants in Govt there is no point in reserving seats for Lateral Entry.

few DAY ago someone was asking if he will be rejected if he failed to submit EWS certificate.

I am sure now those who do not qualify EWS category are going to be rejected as EWS cutoff is 78 and for General 304.

@Shubz  927 are selected candidates.  182 candidates are in Consolidated Reserve List. So total is 927+182= 1011

@Thanos_ Good step. If someone from Upsc fraternity also approach SC regarding postponement of pre, then Upsc might be compelled to give explanation whether it's going to conduct the exam or not. At least ambiguity will be over.

1---First of all it is a distorted data that 15% of general candidates...... Out of 80% hindu population nearly 20% are general, it means 16% of population. In rest 20% nearly 70% lies in general(sikh, general Muslims, jains etc) so the total general population is nearly 30% Or more..... It is a(15%, 50% ) propaganda spread by such people to fulfill their vested interests.

2----See last year result, there were

Total seats=812 out of which general seats were 414

Result was of 759 seats in which the reported seats for sc, st, obc filled fully.

Gen seats filled were 361(reported 414 out of 812).....53 seats were kept reserved from GEN VACANCY to fill through reserved list..... It is based on merit..... So all the reserved seats were filled in ist instance itself.

All such people are there to spread hatred only.... U can't tell them all this statistics.......

This year people who are clearing also seem to have very diverse backgrounds and profiles and not just full time aspirants according to random upsc articles on social media. Hmm interesting change it seems or maybe those are few specific examples.

The govt seems to be hell bent on conducting the recruitment exams.

Hi guys

In this covid world, all of us are sailing in the same boat, facing the same apprehensions, same issues, same anxieties and with the same goal....upsc!!

I want to share my experience with you all.i am a frontline covid warrior in this  duty from past five months..we are literally working day and night.

I am incharge of an area and our team is entirely responsible for testing in the area, sealing the containment area, ensuring essentials supply in the area, sanitisation, waste collection monitoring in the area, sensiting the public there regarding social distancing, ensuring that people don't jump barricades, shifting positive patients to hospitals, monitoring home isolation patients, answering indefinite public calls and a hell lot of other covid works along with our regular official duties..

...it has been really a lot of tasks.... add on to this,.there are meetings at ward level, booth level, assembly constituency level, parliamentary constituency level, along with meetings of DM,district in charge minister, chief secretary, chief minister, health minister, covid minister, our own departmental meetings, with hundreds of video/WebEx/Google meet/zoom meetings...!!

Since we are in the frontline during such covid times,we are not able to get any time to study....

I feel sorry about our state ,but also proud that we are of some help to the people in dire needs...

But,at the end of the day, feel like I am unable to study much for prelims, conducting exam during such times would be really injustice to ppl working for corona relief during such times.

Friends, many of my colleagues are positive, there have been deaths in our offices ,and being in the midst of such scenes,I can rest assure you,it's not as easy as it looks...doctors wearing ppe kits are contracting it.especially post lockdown, normal healthy people are suddenly contracting it out of nowhere and going for ventilators ....believe me,we used to get 2cases in entire city per day in May...now it's 10 cases per ward daily... We have limited staff strength....due to no leaves or Saturday or Sunday and continuously working since five months, all of us are reaching our saturation levels...

So,a more prudent way for upsc would be giving an extra attempt for this year exam applied people and also postponing prelims till things come under Ctrl....I,being in one of the most developed states of India(we had effectively controlled during lockdown and till June)and in one of the most advanced and literate city can assure you that even beds are not available for asymptomatic patients....leave alone icu, ventilators....Pvt hospitals are charging like crazy(1lakh per day sometimes), in such scenario things are going out of hand at many places.

So guys, please please take care of yourself and your family....nobody has understood this virus...some say it's airborne...some say no...some cases ppl r hvng lung issues...some are having sudden heartattacks.,some evn showing liver problems,dysentry....vaccine not in next month atleast....

So life is very short ....make it memorable....study vn u ought to .spend tym with family....live life to the fullest.. nobody  knows  what will happen tomorrow...

Goodluck
