[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

Ews certificate for this fy 2020-2021 will be based on the annual family income of the preceding year 2019-2020.

As far as my knowledge is concerned, if a candidate is into services(state or centre) and yet his /her annual family income is less than 8lac pa(as fixed by the financial rules of the state/Central government based on the upsc rules or state psc rules) , he /she is eligible for ews.

I have no clue about the salary during leave(eol), or anything you have questioned in the first part and how it impacts ews category.

Family includes only applicant, his /her parents, his/her minor siblings, spouse and kids(if married).. So grandfather isn't included in the definition of family as per ews circular.

@Agog Why can't businessmen use it? If in particular year - their income is less than 8 LPA - their children can get EWS considering they meet the caste/land conditions.

I want to make a separate pdf for the News in short section given at the end of Vision monthly compendium. I mean combining that section from every month into 1. Any idea how to do it?

@Dreamtobe Family income for that particular year right? If someone takes unpaid leave for 6 months then, what? Although his salary is more than 8 LPA but he doesn't realize it - salary for 6 months is not credited - then what will happen?

Can you get EWS Certificate if you are into services but take Extraordinary leave (EOL) with no salary? Although your alloted income is more than 8 LPA but if because of your leave or any other reason if you don't get the salary or get less than 8 LPA for a particular year - can you get EWS Certificate for that year?

I have seen many general category people of previous years converting into EWS although getting less rank but better service.

Will it be applicable only in your first year of service or subsequent?

At what level EWS CUTOFF will stabilize for subsequent years?

ews has huge advantage those who are getting it will definetely get in at lower scores. This year many hiterto gen cat people in upsc lists above 500/600 ranks due to EWS which is unheard of otherwise for gen category. Max it used to close around 450 nowadays 350 itself.

@AureliusM use any pdf editing software>extract those pages>combine. you can do it online too. Or like@Chanakya has suggested copy and paste.

The role of the getting decepted or not, lies completely at your end. I would suggest meditation - if you get decepted so easily.

Annual Family income of the preceeding year.. If one is applying for ews for fy 2020-21, then income accounted for is 2019-2020. ( logically if you are applying for ews 2020-2021 I. E. from April 2020 to March 2021, one's annual income is yet to be determined for this year (this Aug to next yr March) , thus preceeding year's annual family income)

I am afraid, no clue at all about the 2nd part of the question. Will let you know if I have such info.

All those who use to study at Library ..how u guys coping at home( specially for those who are done with 2-3 attempts ) ....

For last two days my performance has been better ... In home i have made 3 place to study.. traditional chair table.. whn i get tired take a break and seat on ground with a low height table.. then sometimes i go to balcony or roof top for study.. As i live in a village i go for walk every evening.. In home things can be monotonous whn u dnt have frnds of lib to keep the env or lack luxury of 10min tea stall talk.. So to break the monotony all these stuffs ... u can do ur own...

@Rudra12 mere family wale to chill hai but relatives and neighbours who hav not seen me for couple if years due to delhi stay are like.. abhi bhi upsc kar raha hai ? Hua nhi kya ? Age hogaya ab?..well my optimistic parents are also now slowly turning against upsc prep and exam givin..unable to sit and study at home seriously ..😀

Yeah same situation... wht i do is i have made different time of lunch and dinner.. no family get together . Make my own coffie . And less talk frm my side unless its urgent .. u never knw whn a small talks get diverted to career etc 😁

guys.....according to my source.....NDA exam will surely take place as all duties, roaster has been assigned to UPSC personnel and they have even booked their tickets.....so if they could conduct NDA exam with approx 5lakh students then they will surely conduct civil services exam also.

However , there may be some change if some unprecedented situation comes...otherwise (if same situation persists) exam would take place on 4th october and upsc is fully ready for it.
