Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
Today 2391 cases, a record in a day were recorded.
Most of the Schools in UP are being converted into quarantine facilities. Also UP govt has extended ban on gatherings till June 30th. Punjab too has extended the Lockdown. There are some aspirants who are migrant labourers too(because we hear such strories) . Still more than 300 candidates have their interviews pending. Trains, buses and airways are too stopped for normal businesses.
What ifthey don't postpone the exams, and on 5 th June Corona cases start to rise up, all traced to Upsc exam centres. then surely people will ask resignations from The chairman and the appropriate executive.
Signed the petition. The guys have cleverly added a small promotion at the end of it!
Is there any example where a public body in India paid heed to change.org, formally or informally? I couldn't find any concrete case online.
Different note, sending a well drafted retirement message to chairman might work better, emotionally atleast. He retires on 7/August/20.
Check this out buddy!
Replying to the question in the title of the thread.
When will prelims be held if its postponed?
Here's my personal opinion.
1. The current lockdown has been just extended till may 17th. No one knows what will happen after this. So upsc doesn't have a clear idea about when things will be back to normal.
2. So, most probably, because of this lack of clarity, upsc will just defer prelims till further notice and not announce any dates. Just like it has done for interview and other things. I personally expect this to be communicated officially by tomorrow or Monday.
3. Whenever the exam will be held, we will be notified atleast a month before the exam date because the admit cards have to be issued and upsc have to get done with the logistics.
4. As of now, the govt exit strategy for covid19 is to turn red or orange zones into green zone one by one. Metro cities and many capital cities are in red zones and this is where prelims centres are located. So, it will take atleast another two months for these places to come in green zone (which means no cases for 21 days). Only after these places become green zones, can we expect public transport and inter state travel to function normally.
5. I personally expect (in a speculative tone) prelims to be held between mid August to mid September. Based on the how serious and sensitive the covid19 situation is right now.
In any case, don't relax. Study like you have prelims on 31st May. You'll benefit a lot from this mindset. :)
One thing for sure is we don't know what the virus is capable of , to what extent it can spread , is second wave possible , is india still nascent stages of the spread or are we really immune to it to a certain extent due to BCG ....etc
therefore UPSC to be logically cannot give dates or months of postponement if they have realised the unpredictability of spread... therefore it will be postponed , but dates won't be announced as no one knows when the virus will be suppressed . it might be August or December or January , who knows it all depends on the curtailment of spread , which is unpredictable in nature as of now.... so be at peace people and learn... happy learning.... peace ✌️😎
My dear respected upsc friends. I hope you all are fine and doing great.
Here are the news of the day.
Upsc 20 prelim exam will be conducted next year , because coronavirus will be with us till december with its second wave.
Next year age relaxation will be given due to corona virus.
Thank you and take care.
@Kira0705 Na. The new calendars would be issued and UPSC will give atleast a 2 months heads up. It could possibly align the dates with 2016 cycle of holding the pre in Aug and mains in Dec.
Possible
