[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Deviating from the topic at hand, but i have a question for you all.

How do you decide b/w attempting more or attempting less no of ques in prelims tests when accuracy is a problem?

I always attempt close to 95 questions which puts me in my desired range of marks. But I get anywhere close to 25 negatives. While people suggest attempting lesser to improve accuracy - somehow for me, it results in a net lower score.

Its like a paradox. Attempting more ruins your accuracy, but attempting less is not an option since 'low accuracy'.

@Villanelle my post got deleted lol

I went form 75-80 attempts to 90-95 attempts and my scorealwaysincrease like literally always.

Upsc never mentions accuracy so i stopped calculating my accuracy as well.

If you clear the cutoff nobody cares about the accuracy.

you said ''I always attempt close to 95 questions which puts me in my desired range of marks.'' toh bas Bat hi khatam

I have screwed up 2 attempts while attempting around 80 questions just because of this accuracy.

3/10 correct blind guesses can fetch you +1.38 marks and yes it depends upon the paper as well but every year its a new ball game

Practice your most comfy range in the mock test and that too in mixed test with full syllabus.

The NDTV screenshot above is just a MECHANICAL copy of the previous news items. No such sources have been quoted. Meanwhile what if they conduct the exam on 31, corona cases shoots up on 5 th June, all traced to upsc center. The chairman and minister will be asked to resign. When olympics can get delayed, what about uPsC ??

In this video, 16:00 minutes onwards, AIIMS doctor is saying that we haven't reached to peak yet. It might be towards the end of May or in June. So, exams are definitely going to be postponed.

After such a long period of lockdown, it makes no sense that we may not have reached peak. The thing is numbers are much more than we see. We could be well past the peak. We simply see increase in cases as per increase in testing. The graph of both are identical.

@Charlie We have not yet reached the peak because of the lockdown.
But continued lockdown is not a sustainable solution, and as soon as the restrictions will be relaxed, the cases will start increasing exponentially.
We have seen the same thing in last 2-3 days when the daily count has been making new highs every day.

@Tokyo Bro just ponder over these facts

0. Corona cases have risen in the past 3 days. They may rise further due to relaxations.
a. IIT, Neet, Cbse exams are also important but are delayed.
b. What if corona cases on 5 th June are detected and traced from Upsc centre. Questions will be asked.
c. My father works in education department of certain state. I asked him about exam centres. He told that they are now quarantine centers.
d. Why Capf paper, due for August was deferred ?
e. Trains, buses and airways are not open for 100 % use.
F. No one from UPSc debunked the Prelims postponement theory, post Minister's interview.

Notification is up on the website.

Civil Service Preliminary Exam-2020 stands "deferred". Fresh dates will be notified on 20/05/2020 on assessment of prevailing situation.

So not happening on 31st May, but deferred till when no one knows. UPSC keeps up the unpredictability factor alive. 🤣
