Sir in this question statement 2 mentions that classification of plan and non-plan expenditure was ended by government in the budget in 2016. 

 In the Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh book, it is mentioned that it was announced in Union Budget 2017-18 and not in 2016. (Page: 18.4)

 Therefore answer should be ( a ) and not ( c ).

 Please clarify.

 It's a previous year verbatim question and answer is c as per official upsc key whereas the key given by forumIas has D as answer.

Avanti and Gandhara are not associated with life of Buddha.

Statement 1: its not Rashtrakuta, but the CHOLA EMPIRE, was divided into mandalams and Nadus. Rashtrakuta was divided into Rashtras, vishyas and bhuktis.

So answer should be B. (answer key says c)

Someone please rectify.

How can we say Buddhism is not associated with absolute non violence ? Please give reasons.

Please, don't mention that Buddha ate meat and died.

Jaina propounded that "there is no God",whereas Buddhism neither accepts nor rejects God.  But both of them advocate non violence (may or may not be absolute)

So the most appropriate option is B.

@Lighthouse in Q49 it's given opposite.

The supreme court overturned the Rajasthan court judgement which earlier put a ban on Santhara practice in Jainism.

Still statement 2 is right.
