While waiting for your letter to get a reply, you can ask the people defecating whether there is a community toilet in the nearby range. If yes, ask the reason they are not using it. If the reason is financial, why don't you offer to cover 2-3 month worth of charges? Generally, it is 2-5 rupees per turn. This will give an instant solution to the problem while the long term permanent solution will be looked into by the government.

Due to aggressive SBM, community toilets have come up literally at every 1-2 km. You may look at your map and guide them to a nearby facility.

The challenge- Approaching them and making them feel comfortable. It is tricky, but it can work with the right approach. You may observe their coming and going times and other behavioural patterns to plan your approach.

Do not sound condescending at any level, instead display empathy and make them feel safe and understood. Words can change hearts and touch souls.

Thanks for the reply bhai but the suggestions you proposed do not seem to be practical to me, thereby making it hard to implement them.

For example, you mentioned to fund the usage charge for 2-3 months. Now, while running on the road, I see around 10 people everyday going here and there with jugs and cans in their hand, implying they are going to freshen themselves up. Now, the ULB run public toilets, they charge ₹5 for usage of toilet and ₹2 for urinal. Now for 3 months , the amount sums up to ₹4500(10*₹5*30*3). Sadly, I’m a unemployed youth sustaining on my father’s earning. By no means i can ask him to give me this amount because he will be asking me the reason why I want the money, and I cannot tell him that I want to fund people wanting to use public toilets. Seedha belt aayegi bhai. Just kidding(the belt part) but i hope you get what I’m trying to say.

Secondly, you mentioned that due to aggressive SBM, there is literally a community toilet in every one-two km area. I’m not sure where this is coming from but the area about which I am talking, there is a long stretch of newly constructed road(the main road) of about 15-20kms distance but there isn’t a single ulb run public toilet on either side of this road. There are two petrol pumps having toilets which can be used free of cost by those people but these are like 2kms behind the place where the people I was talking about, live. I’m pretty sure they won’t be walking 4kms to and fro just to poop. I guess hardly anyone would specially when one  has open forest kinda area of aravalis just beside the road. Even the traffic on road is minimal at morning time, so instead of going into the forest area, women sit just at the  side of the road to defecate, thereby becoming visible to the people passing by.

There are other issues as well but I won’t be typing because zyada lamba ho jayega.

I realised the best I can do is that I’ll write a mail to the authorities and will leave rest upon the administration to do what they feel like doing. I’ll be including the suggestions made by the above person, like sharing location on map, writing mail to political persons as well apart from the permanent executives and like wise.

Really appreciate your reply though. Thanks again.

As per credible insider accounts, over 40% of UPSC Bhawan staff has tested positive for Covid recently, including some JS and above officers. News wrt to Members is unclear though several came in contact with those infected and are in possible isolation. A section officer, multiple wing and deptt staff are hospitalised and there is news of few unfortunate casualty as well. It's sad, the state of affairs in these bodies and ministries. Min of I&B has lost more than 5 members to this virus in past 2 days, including very senior IIS officers. Same is situation in MoH&FW, even on the Admin side and in several other Central Ministries. People at top have failed us. It's each citizen for one another. In all likelihood, UPSC is expected to release a new calendar before/around 20th May. Don't go by this piece of information alone, keep your preparation as geared as possible. Even if it doesn't get delayed much, you should be able to shift gears quick.

As of now, Please take good care of yourself, esp the ones in Delhi considering the serious positivity rate and "R" reaching dangerous levels.

Follow the 3 Ws rigorously - Wear a mask, Watch your distance and Wash your hands.

Take care everyone. We're all in this together

"My husband ATUL BANSAL was admitted in  ICU in jaipur golden hospital since 13/04/21 and he was either recovering or maintaining a stable stage which I know as I was in contact with him daily through video call and I talked to him on 23/04/21 by video call at 1.20pm & he talked perfectly but suddenly at 7 pm hospital called to tell me that he had a cardiac arrest although I came to know later that oxygen supplies were  depleted at 6  pm in  hospital and he died. Now me and two daughters are completely devasted so I expect  from you as a tax payer and a law abiding citizen to do inquiry in the murder of ATUL BANSAL and punish the responsible. He was  not tested for corona after his admission even on repeated requests as we both were tested positive on 5/4/21 and on 22/4/21 I was tested negative I informed doctor and requested him to test ATUL BANSAL also but he said no need to test and declared ATUL BANSAL dead and corona positive on 23/4/21 without testing him even after 18 days.

My nephew who is a doctor visited my husband in RICU at 8:30 PM when my husband was gasping for breath. He saw the patient's condition deteriorating in front of his eyes and the ventilator oxygen supply fluctuating where FiO2 was fluctating between 20-90 and saturation reached to 20 from 90.

ATUL BANSAL WANTS JUSTICE. "

Recently oxygen depletion at Jaipur Golden Hospital in Delhi led to death of 20 patients. Daughter of one of the deceased has  sent this message. (Dont know her personally) I feel really sorry for her loss , but I am in a dilemma. Who is to blame for this? Will she be able to get her father justice? I mean.. what can be done to ensure that nothing sort of this happens.. Can we afford such campaigns at this point of time?

in my opinion the exam is getting postponed. we dont just need UPSC and its staff to be healthy for conducting the exam, but also lot of people deployed at the exam centres across India. Also, the exam centres would be expanded which means more staff requirements to conduct an exam. If the spare day on UPSC's calendar is used to conduct cancelled exams, Aug 29 is the first date I can think of. July 4 cant be the date - cases would still be high even if in the declining phase.

Fun fact - last yr, it was May 4, 27 days before the scheduled exam date, when postponement was announced and July 4 when the new exam date was announced.

Thoughts?

/they should clear rumours by 15May only.. Its difficult to face unpredictability

any insider info regarding postponement?

4.8k views

With the entire interviews pending, an announcement will be sooner than expected. I believe 1st week of May, after Delhi's lockdown is over. Postponement is on the charts otherwise it will extremely unfair for the interview candidates if interviews happen post prelims.

Suppose a candidate's interview falls post prelims, the said person will have to prepare for prelims, mains, and interview simultaneously.
Further, those who get selected for IAS, IFS have to resign before giving UPSC CSE again(As per the notification). What if a person becomes one, but due to interviews post prelims, has given prelims again. How will it be tackled?

5.3k views

Doubt wahi hai.. Can they conduct prelims before or during interviews? and if they unilaterally announce students wont have option to follow instructions.

Also I feel toppers of 2020 would again appear prelims as conducted before results. In that case it will be unfair for 1st attempt people as they should have been ineligible to reappear 2021

New dates last year were announced on 5th June

@India417102 there are fair chances for the exam to be postponed. In that upsc circular it was mentioned that "The dates for the Interviews and Recruitment Test, where candidates
and advisers are required to travel from all parts of the country, will be
reviewed from time to time."
So indirectly they gave us a hint. But they will announce later maybe by 1st half of June.

@Darvey78 o yeah. My bad. I meant to say June 4th. Though, yes, it was June 5th precisely as you said

Ayushi7,

what are you guys doing these days? i might sound childish but this whole corona induced uncertainty is driving me insane. was happily preparing for intv. now with dates postponed, dont know how to move ahead. losing all interest in this exam. wish i had a real job and contributed to my family's finances in these crunch times.

last year was horrified to hear stories of suffering. but was certain that with precaution things would pan out fine for me. and they did to an extent. cleared pre and mains. but this 2nd wave is a step into reality. a rude shock. am in delhi. in my very own flat of 8 families, 3 have tested positive this time. family members of friends have passed away. situation is grim. the thought that it could be our turn any moment haunts me every day. aging parents and a dependent son in a corona world. title of a horror movie. cant imagine going through this suffering.

in cities we are accustomed to the idea that value of human life is very insignificant. especially if you are from a working class family. but the pandemic has pushed this notion to different level. bodies being transported like trash. families begging to see the dead, one last time. overcrowded hospitals. its nothing short of an apocalypse. forgive me for painting a cynical and pessimistic picture. but truth must be understood to prepare ourselves for what may be inevitable for some unlucky souls in the coming days.

prep wise, study hours are approaching zero. anxiety at peak. insomnia. trying to reconcile mind to this new reality, a living nightmare,  with my aspiration and dream of civil service. havent stepped out in months. still trying to stay positive. lets keep our thoughts and prayers with those families that are losing their bread earners and loved ones. the pain is unimaginable. lets support warriors, civil society, media and all govt functionaries irrespective of ideology in this collective fight for survival. the constant bickering and blame game by parties and media is salt on the wound. we must rise above all this. may god help us all.
