Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
its plain and simple ; factual questions (reports, scheme, IR, ) can be googled and answered within 30 seconds. Conceptual questions are where most aspirants struggle. So what i have noticed is when the tests are more factual, the scores skyrocket - 150-170 ! While Geography or Environment heavy question papers or concepts based polity test papers see lower top scores.Law of Percentages says if 6000+people are giving online exams at the comfort of their homes, couches and laptops,2-3%are bound to refer to google and cross check answers they have no idea about. Ego boost bolo or like someone said here, "Law of Attraction," ; these guys are not helping themselves in any way by doing that sort of stuff. They are not applying their minds . Nor are they developing those critical skills and interlinkages necessary to ace the actual prelims paper. So if it suits you, count your rank from scores of 140-145 onwards. 140+ warriors hote bhi hain and they are real (know quite a lot of them). anyone else saying that 160, 190, 200 etc are genuine - give me a break.
And even if they are, we only need 110+ to sit for mains. wo 160 laake kya hi ukhaad lega agar tum 110 laake mains mein 900+ score kar do. Phir tum dena agle saal topper's talk, while that 160+ fake warrior is still busy getting 160+ in ABHYAS 2021 !
😉
@Captain America You are right.@Sherkhan1428 explained it well.
@SergioRamossame pattern with vision mocks, almost every test shows top 100 having marks above 150-160?How is that possible?I havent got any explaination from vision office too?Has anyone here has vision ias series and noticed same???
You would seldom hear toppers talk when he/she would lament about being in the top 10 or top 100. Most of them have their marks lingering around 90-110 but will do better in the exam. I was talking to a 2017 batch IAS Abhinash sir. He gave his example of the year 2017 when he used to get 90-110 in mocks. 2 weeks before his prelims exam, he got 68 in an open mock of Iasbaba. But he didn't move an inch and kept revising and working on his shortcomings. You would be surprised, he got 157 marks in actual prelims(maybe in top 3 or topper itself). Point is, you need to neglect them, not just in prelims but in mains mock tests also.
Remember,"No One can defeat you unless you defeat yourself"
If certain parts of country remain in lockdown till may 2nd wk.. how can upsc conduct exam??
as someone said.. there are lots of mays in may! if there is genuinely no community transmission as icmr is saying.. then new cases can sharply fall as well. so conditions may turn out in favor of prelims on time.
#thank you for the thread

Hey guys...just needed a suggestion...
This would be my 4th attempt.wrote mains in 1st attempt and couldn't clear prelims in 2018,2019. This yr I am constantly getting around 75 marks in mocks...I don't know wats happening...the more I study, more drop in marks...should I skip dis attempt ?
Don't skip this attempt. Last year in forum stimulator open mock last test I scored 78, (although I thought paper was on easier side) , but I managed to clear prelims. Last to last year in forum stimulator open mock last test, I scored 105,( I felt paper was on tougher side) , but I could clear prelims by margin of 0.67.
So you see, what happened here. Don't decide based on the score of your test series, whether to give attempt or not. What you have to decide is can you improve, in next test or not, if you feel you can't, you have done everything possible, skip the attempt. If you think you can do better, then get back to your notes.
From, last four experience of mine, I can assure you that your level of confidence plays a vital role in clearing prelims i.e knowledge is not the sole parameter.
