[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Dead Man I second ur opinion....how can upsc can take risk of not setting paper in april end...it is impossible to think that upsc will not set paper in april only....n also upsc cant have dual approach towards NDA n CSP...as a org ..it Follows same principle everywhere.

NDA is not even comparable to CSE. SYLLABUS/SELECTION/OBJECTIVE everything is different.

From an extremely reputed coaching institute. I mean this is the level of randomness and stupidity in PRELIMS TEST SERIES. Further proof why these tests are not meant to be taken seriously!
Subah subah mood kharab dete hain ye log yaar!
Yesterday I came across a question asking conditions for the occurrence of avian botulism and bro, options so close and typical, I thought for a second whether I was giving a NEET mock by mistake!

NDA is for aspirants of 12th. The main focus is on subject knowledge rather than current affairs.

CSE is the flagship exam of upsc. Current affairs form the core of the syllabus. This isn't some state pcs examination that the authorities will have laid back attitude.

Moreover nda wad in april so the question pprs might have been set in march itself. But for upsc it was quite clear in april that conducting exms on may 31 wont be possible so there are very less chances of question pprs getting printed in april-may.

Yet agr risky game khelna hi hai toh karo april tk ke hi current affairs

Comparatively easier than 1,2

@SergioRamos Abhyaas 2 Test of vision had a question on 'Pareto Optimality'. I knew it because my optional is economics and this topic is covered in Microeconomics. But it's impossible for others to know it.

They’re probably picking up economy related terms from the terminology chapter at the end of Ramesh Singh. Remember coming across this there. A lot of these random questions are from standard books, but the type of content that one would (and should) ignore for prelims. Really low effort.

@whatonly My thinking here says that the syllabus is focused on Indian Economy, not Economics. Plus as a general study perspective, I do not think going beyond 12th Macro has any relevance.
These standard books, in a bid to be exhaustive, overdo themselves. Same with tests.
To be the devil's advocate, every YEAR crafting 5000 questions from the same syllabus is pretty rough.
These questions need to be somewhat novel too, otherwise, why would an aspirant go for a new test series?
Plus, there also needs to be a lot of tests for marketing purposes.
For example, I believe, well crafted 20-25 tests are more than enough for Prelims. But suppose, I am selling a 22 test series for 8k(Mind you, high quality), while the other one is offering 40 at the same price(The quality is bound to dilute). Students will rush for the 40 ones.
Had Adam Smith been around, I would've told him, bro, people are anything but rational! :p
