[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Oatmeal How will they differentiate between who is COVID+ or who is having simple flu or fever? Or will they not allow anyone with a body temperature above 99?

That's the Pandora Box of discretion going to be opened on 04th.

@Jokar This happened in UP State exam...people with temperature above 100 were not allowed to write the exam even if they have written the first shift they were not allowed in second shift.
I wish UPSC to be considerate enough.

Thats ridiculous . There r more flu cases or other cases in this country whr temp gets high .  Its look like fake news spreaded by someone .

My roll no. ends with 006, and i know atleast 3 guys with roll numbers all the way upto 400's in the same centre! Should we check for clarification with the Commission. These folks asked the UPSC to first ensure students live near the centre and then directed that no more than 100/centre. Clearly, I now trust Fuller's spider web theory much more than ever before

@Homo Neanderthalensis Precisely! Guess the court was too busy punching holes in the Petitioner’s plea, that it forgot to direct upsc to have clear sops in this regard.

@Hakunah_Matata Well, this would be disastrous for many. A year of hard work will go down the drain even if you have a slightly high body temperature on the day. It is ridiculous, to say the least.

Not more than 100 students allowed in one centre....if we consider arrangements for 6 lakhs students it will require 6000 centres but no. of centres are around 2.6k ....does this mean they will upload admit card again with different centres?

Guys, I am also not getting this 100 students/ centre thing.

One of my relative knows the head of a school which is a centre. 150 students have been allotted that centre.

Few day’s back, some email ids were being circulated on TG, twitter and other social media platforms asking the affected aspirants(those who themselves were infected or those whose family member/s were infected) to write their grievances to those mentioned email ids.
I guess they were requested to share their COVID positive certificates  so that  special arrangements can be made for them  to take the exam.
I didn’t follow the SC verdict but after reading posts here saying that COViD positive people wont be allowed to sit for the exam,  I think now that the same data be will used to not allow those people to enter the examination centre.

Will keeping a paracetamol for the worst case help? Anybody?

Only if you're a diagnosed case will this order prevent you from writing the exam. Having symptoms is not a bar.

How will people in center knw whether someone is diagnosed case ? I think we r just thinking too much . Judges dnt have ny idea on ground realities . Just reading the twisting complicated lines of law not enough .Every bench must have a experienced administrater..

Worst part is denying someone to appear in exam....after putting in so much for years and years if a candidate possess high temperature just a day before exam he would not be allowed to appear. I am not able to see the basic judicial rationale in this verdict.

Although I too didn't wanted any further postponement but why only UPSC aspirants are expected to be embodiment of moral principles.

They can't. Legally speaking, even if you have symptoms but have not been diagnosed or been put in quarantine, nothing in this verdict can prevent you from writing the exam.

If SC had allowed CoViD positive patients to write it, people would have come out in the open and asked for a separate room or facilities. Now, people would hide it if they have symptoms or not get diagnosed, and give the exam. This is more dangerous.

@rafael see no one knows the precise SOP or rules that UPSC would follow.
All these are mere guesses only. Considering the repute of UPSC i think they will be considerate enough and accomodate the interests of those suffering with COVID.

Fingers crossed.

Usually i don’t like myself to be proven wrong but here i am desperately wanting myself to be proven wrong. :/

I wonder if any special, even adequate  arrangements of whatsoever nature will be made wrt CSE 2020.

Got to read on social media about how NDA exam in state like UP was conducted, how prelims of various state PCS exams like Karnataka one were conducted.

Was reading about the so called SOPs that Health and Home ministry are justifying and backing upon.

Was reading in newspaper about SOPs issued by ministries  such as Regular Sanitization of centres, adequate amount of disposable glasses for water, proper social distancing etc etc.

Just to know about the ground reality, asked a friend about her experience who had her entrance exam of B.Ed(DU) conducted by NTA. Was really shocked to know that no sanitisation of desktops were carried out, she herself had to remove the dust from the system. No disposable glasses were there near the water dispenser machine. No social distancing was there when she went to check her assigned hall, when she was entering the exam centre as well as when she was exiting the exam centre.

This was the ground scenario. Just imagine what will the case be wrt CSE. Number of candidates taking DU B.Ed entrance examination are nowhere near  to the number of candidates that are there for Prelims of CSE.

Would like to conclude with some unsolicited gyaan.

khud ki paani ki bottle le jaana na bhuulyega. Ho sakta hai ki apko 3 hours ke gap ke liye centre Mei hi rehna pade and centre vale gate na kholay. Toh sutte ka dabba aur lighter/maachiss bhi sath rakhiyega! :D
