[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

I vouch for your cutoff with +2. It will be more fair to setup it as 90.

.I am saying since 6:30 am morning.

Ki  nothing other than 95+-2

Can't go 97. 92 to 95. Mark my words no matter how difficult paper is many will get 120, 130 but they don't determine cut off. Whenever there is rise in difficulty level, cut off do fall. But self proclaimed pundits will tell u that cur off is resilient, it won't fall bla bla bla. But it did fall in 2017, 2018. Even in 2019 it did fall. Only because of newly created EWS, general cut off remained constant otherwise it would have come down at least by one marks. So the moral of the story is cur off is consistently falling from 2017 onwards.

This is a very good key. They usually get it right because they almost exclusively focus on this.

fyi, none of the coaching institutes get the paragraphs right 100%. Especially CL. My last year's experience was that they are very poor in RC area.

Best way to check is to google the paragraphs and find the answers. Someone had posted some of the passages before with the links. Refer them.

@Equalizer  I agree with you bro... take it anywhere. Its somewhat 90 to 95 band .... !!  +-2 ye to habit hai bolna.

No no being anxious won't help now. Ofcourse a little bit of it is necessary, but not to the extent which would hamper our performance. Baki bas jab jump kiye hi hai aisi uncertainty mein to stable rehna sikhna hi padega.

@Rambo93 Thanks a lot ! And yes I did follow your advice for prelims when I was scoring low in mocks(like doing pts well , Being good with basics) and almost felt like giving up ! I have to say you and many people from Forum @Sherkhan1428 @AzadHindFauz @SergioRamos and many more have been really helpful ,  Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for keeping my spirits high all through :-)

I can empathise with your thoughts. I always wanted to play guitar, set out on a solo trip & get the bike dirt on my face but alas! I fell in the upsc trap even when i had a way out. Always hiding my face from public gatherings and telling myself ki "apna time aayega"! Be it the scorching summer heat or the chilling winters, I've seen seasons come n go. It's not upsc that baffles me anymore but life! More than these seasons I've seen people changing, masks peeling off and that rawness fears me no longer. Every attempt makes me a wiser and a quieter person and though it's a very private affair, yet i evolve. Some call it a depression, others mark it as a liability, but the day i get to the other side of the wall, I'll make my every action as effective as my every step today. And if at all i don't, then more than burdening my child with my unfulfilled dreams, I'll advice her/him to follow their instincts even if it brings swollen eyes, frigid back and public shame... I've learnt that my private victory is much more larger and deeper than my public credentials! Call it a retreat or call it resistance- I'm a fighter and I'll fight till my end!

This was beautiful. :) Well said.

Scoring 106 in paper 1. But made blunders in paper 2 :( going to get somewhere between 63-67.

What is awful is that i gave interview last year. But made the blunder of taking paper 2 too casually this time. This is embarrassing tbh

please confirm the answer of RAKHMABAI CASE's & Desher katha's answer....? ANYONE

In Rakhmabai... I think it is not related to education... i read whole case... there was nothing related to v women's education '??

And regarding desher katha?

AND REGARDING AADHAR QUESTION... Irdai on 1st of September has made it mandatory for imsuramce POLICIES...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.paisabazaar.com/aadhar-card/irdai-makes-aadhaar-linking-with-insurance-policies-mandatory/amp/

This guy also wrote in hindi and marathi .. I dnt see a reason why he wld refer "desh" as only bengal . There is hindi translation of this book as well . Someone had shared a link of article plz check .

https://www.google.com/amp/s/hindi.thebetterindia.com/9021/sakharam-ganesh-deuskar-freedom-fighter/

I think this 1,2 is correct as the third statement is true about Anandmath and they had replaced the name of the book here. The statement has to be picked from somewhere.

This guy was from maharastra ...  He must have refered desh as whole india ..  Though bengal exploitation might have dominated the book ..   Some further reading in below link . The context might be some article or paper on how bengali nationalism gave rise to indian nationalism etc..

Can anyone plz tell. Was CSAT this year was d most difficult asked by upsc till date. Seeing by the number of people failing to clear it and that too with good gs1 score I consider myself lucky. Also what would be the impact of covid on aspirants preparation and consequently on cut off?

I sometimes have this problem of not being able to sleep the night before exam. Not just for few hours but whole night. Even this time even though I slept at 9.30pm, I was wide awake whole night. Can anyone suggest me something to overcome this. I asked a doctor to suggest me Sleeping pills but he didnt prescribe, saying they will affect my performance. I donno wat else to do.

Don’t sleep before night so you will get sleep day before exam

@Equalizer  Bhai I did not give 2019 but solved it before 2020 prelims. I got 115 with UPSC key and in 2020 I am getting from 87 to 95, i felt it was tougher than 2019. Though comparing actual exam performance with solving in room.may not be judicious but still I felt 2020 CSAT was a notch higher in difficulty level than 2019.
