[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Shubhra Ranjan, the polity goddess, giving different answer for preamble question, says its a and not d-

The Preamble to the Constitution of India is

(a) a part of the Constitution but has no legal effect

(b) not a part of the Constitution and has no legal effect either

(c) a part of the Constitution and has the same legal effect an any other part

(d) a part of the Constitution but has no legal effect independently of other parts

Lol. They got that 1.27272727 question wrong. All they had to do was put the options in calculator and cross check. And they still got it wrong. And on top of that they declare that their answer key will have a +- 5% variability.

@sunnykumarroy658377 watch examrace videos on youtube 4 parts. seemed pretty reliable, few mistakes but came with a correction video as well. few comprehension questions may be wrong so adjust accordingly.

I think a is correct too. I have marked d though but the moment I marked d in exam I was pretty sure I marked it wrong. Option D is there to deliberately confuse people I think.

So I have landed in a situation similar to my previous attempt. I am scoring 96.67 as per Forum Calculator(59 C and 32 W). Last year around too, I was somewhere getting around 98-99 from so called reliable Answer Keys. I prepared for Mains last year during this period and also joined Test Series for GS,Optional as well as Essay. When Prelims List was out, I couldn't find my roll no. I am in same range of scepticism this time around too. Can good folks suggest over here. Ek Baar aisa ho to theek lagta hai, but I seriously don't wanna be second time unlucky this time around:sob:.

@Harmony last year she was one of the only ones to give right answer to state legislature rules wala q

@Harmony I was very confused about both of them but in one judgement SC held that like DPSP, Preamble can be used for Acts as guidance so marked D. Let us see what would be answer of UPSC.

Even I marked using the same logic but later I realised that it doesn't have any legal effect. It only acts as a guidance to the court. I don't think any one can use preamble to claim something from the government in Courts.

@Harmony My 2 cents on this- Shubra Ranjan Mam is a fantastic teacher for PSIR Optional but she isn't that good with GS-Polity portion. I think that either of A and D can go right, but opinion seems to be favouring in the balance of D.

@AureliusM see if one view keshavanand bharti case one will get more clarity towards option D

@AureliusM cant be sure. this is this years liberty wala q restraint or development. d seems more likely. 'legal effect' has a wider connotation than justiciability i think. many ideals of preamble are interrelated to parts 3, 4, 4a etc.

eg social and economic justice in dpsc, political in fr, right to religion, etc are implicit in preamble. most likely it is d. plus in her video she did not explain why d is wrong. just seemed adamant that wrong h to wrong h.

@mehuifs Yes but if court passes some judgement citing Preamble, does it not mean it has legal effect? But really very vague options.

Is forumias key reliable? I am getting 110 from forum and 90 from CivilsDaily. A variation of 20 marks !!

Fort Williams answer is wrong here. While the college ultimately ended up as a center for oriental studies, the original purpose for which Wellesley established it was to train administrators
