[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Tokyo you can refer to examrace videos on yt for cross verification. quant is max correct. plus quant can be self verified as well i feel. as for comprehension i dont think there is a reliable key.

btw 125+ is extremely good. how much are those in your social circle mostly scoring? and your take on cutoff?

Bhai 95-100 k beech mein cutoff lag raha hai...baki pata nahi....issue with vidoes is that there is no consensus in many questions in passages

@Pacman1 Yeah this question is surely wrong. Option A (1 and 2 only) is correct only if you consider the criteria for free legal aid in Delhi. It varies from state to state. For example in Haryana, there is no income limit for senior citizens and transgenders. You can quote this source while filing representation.
https://nalsa.gov.in/faqs
http://www.hslsa.gov.in/about-us/criteria-for-giving-legal-services
Its now up to whims and fancies of UPSC but the question surely is not correct.

I marked C .. thinking that .. It has been used by Sc many a times to interpret the things when articles start talking ambiguities.

I was in between C and D but marked C ... Because I thought .. agar preamble part hai constitution ka to same legal effect hone se kaun rok raha hai isko.  Just took a simple and broader view.
And independent legal effect kaise ho sakta hai ... I mean... Premable alone mostly not used by SC. SC usually read and interpret articles under the light of values enshrined in preamble.  so independently kaise ?

I am not claiming mine is right. But , I want an explanation why C or D is right and ehy each could not be.
Thanks.

@SantiCazorla your points seem reasonable but there are several other factors at play.
most serious aspirants go with a threshold of how much guesses to make, based on mock tests. so they wont blindly mark an answer only on logic. plus the pressure and confusing options didnt give the confidence to apply even such tricks. last year a lot of tricks worked wrongly bringing down scores so surely this year most were apprehensive to apply the same tricks. then there are the rambos who would attempt over 95 come what may. a lot of them undoubtedly would benefit but most would fall face first. plus it isnt the highest scorer but the lowest scorer who decides the cutoff. most students would have the 98 cutoff of 2 years in mind and attempted accordingly- conservatively.

@Surajsai Yeah, the examiner might have played on the word 'civilian' but that looks unlikely. Anyway, if we go by this https://wbtourismgov.in/destination/place/Fort_William_College then it clearly says that
" The purpose of establishing this college was to be to teach British officers of Indian Languages."

Regarding questions about data, does anyone find that answer funny about elephant being 22 months pregnant and even correct? Lol.

@Jokar even if the purpose was to teach Indian languages, it was for administrative purposes and not to revive interest in oriental languages.

anyone has any idea about how the omr machine works? I marked a small dot(~10% of bubble) on a wrong option before marking the right one fully. will it be considered wrong? any official document which i can refer regarding rules on this matter? any insight is appreciated.

@Joeyisthebest  Yeah, that's what I also meant. The word civilian might have been used to differentiate civil servants from military officials. I also marked D and want it to be correct but with UPSC we never know.

@Harmony yes it will be wrong

@Jokar true that. With upsc we never know

All questions directly without changing statements

@Harmony If you have filled the other bubble completely then there are very high chances it would recognize the correct one. It happened to me in JEE when I filled one digit of my roll number like that but it worked out fine at last.
