Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

@atuljiOne can write but unless its relevant I don't know how much it would fetch. Examples do help make the answers specific. But I am myself confused if my part A fetched marks. I myself write many general answers in ethics questions.

Bro mine was pretty average. I got around 330.
And the average for selected candidates was around 380-400.

Yeah it should be around 400 for the selected candidates imo.

Gs score barely gave above 3 in 10 markers and barely above 5-6 in 15 markers. Also model answers given by different coaching institutes of this year's questions papers vary. How have you people evaluated yourselves ?

@atuljifollow same..if u still get close to 90s thn its gone pretty well..though upsc marls may b more thn this later...can act as gauge for performnce

@ranyo_asokaobc ke consistent hai 27% reservation ke hisaab se. Sirf UR ke ghate hai. baaki sabke more or less same hai. I mean prior to EWS quota unko jitne milte the utne hi hai atleast for ias, ifs and ips. obc ke last year ke comparison mei 40 seats jyada hi hai overall.

@ManchesterUnitedacross all services or only ias ,Ips and ifs ?

@Ravsthey had completely confused me in essay last yr....had to unlearn everything they taught and only then i was able to score good

@sernihilosame for ias and ips. 6 seats for ifs compared to 9 last year, but that's because ifs seats got reduced from 30 to 24. 39 more than obc across all services.

Anyone here preparing for UPSC with their job ?
Can you share your experience ? Is it manageable ?

@dancingminionI nvr left job. Max 20 days leave for mains (including exam dates). Reached till interview stage once. If your job allows stress free study after 5pm, u can manage.

How may hours were you able to dedicate to UPSC daily ?

@dancingminionatleast 5 on weekdays, 8 on weekends. I stay near office. 10 min walk. No energy lost in travel, more time to study.
