Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
PS: the above mentioned view is purely systemic. Frankly speaking, they don't deserve to live.
most importantly yet again we have missed to deliberate on uncomfortable issues of patriarchy, toxic masculinity, lack of sex education and understanding of the second sex, need for criminological study to identify the markers and cues that excite such crimes , reasons for failure of deterrence despite amendment in Criminal law, how to teach kids to distinguish a 'bad touch' from a 'good touch', and need for parents to be more trusting of their kids so that kids can talk to their parents without hesitation.

Stakeholders would be victim,accused,her family(apparently she phoned her sister),police(who told her parents she might have eloped with someone),Encounter team,Government of Telangana and of course citizens of the country!
Sexual assault in form,shape,time should be condemned severely and those 4 if they are part of this henious act deserved it!
But safety of self should be held at the pinnacle leaving aside all the women empowerment talks!Women/Men,nobody is safe along highways after dark when travelling alone and believing random strangers on street is grave miscalculation on her part!
Also lack of awareness on her part to stay near crowded areas(There was at toll plaza near by)
@CaesarSrilankan tamil refugees have already got citizenship and have integrated all over south and as of now I don’t see any unrest here!
Neaplese and Bhutanese are like quasi citizens of India!They can get jobs etc without hassle.
Also,the counter argument is these are persecuted minority of these 3 nations where Islam is in majority!
@vvvikas0078212I am referring to a new mechanism similar to fast track courts that can be formulated by government.
The government should have realized the gravity of situation, existing loop holes.
The intent shown by government in ensuring justice through encounter can be shown in developing a speedy mechanism.
We have seen in past as well..when intent is there , laws get passed, constitutions can get amended at a fast pace. Eg: EWS bill. I wish the similar kind of intent shown in crimes related to rapes

What they deserve? Analyse more about ethical dilemma faced in encounter.

victim impact statements should be given statutory backing, investigation and policing should be made separate fields , robust witness protection, overcoming broken window syndrome by ensuring certainty of punishment for even minor infractions, community policing.
@John_TitorThe success of these reforms depends on judiciary and police. Investigation ke naam pe hardly kbhi kuch hota hai and judiciary ki problems of delays due to vacancies, appeal courts and corruption when culprits are powerful. I think rape laws are quite sufficient if implemented. Justice seen done by fast conviction is more powerful deterrent than death penalty. Criminal is not scared of the punishment, he is scared of being caught and convicted.

@ManchesterUnitedagreed. And that's the problem. Should your compassion see religion? If historical wrong is the case, then why is Afg in the list? If not, then Rohingyas(living currently in India) too are a persecuted minority in Myanmar.
Imagine the situation when a nationwide NRC is conducted, you identify the illegal migrants, now you make a list and let off those of a particular religion and deport others(not vote bank politics?).
And if lakhs of people(persecuted minorities) came after partition, I think they would have got the citizenship under the 11 year naturalization period. Why the urge to change this now?
@The_Powerpuff_girlsomeone mst have been definitely carrying a katta for celebratory firing. Vo leke ek goli maar deni chahiye thi usko.....celebratory firing me aise accidents hote rehte hai

But,
- Judicial tenability, as Art14 applies to both citizens & aliens
- Concerns about secularism(religion as the basis)
- Inclusion, exclusion of nations(why not SL Tamils, Nepal, Bhutan)
Hyderabad: 1. Needs thorough investigation
2. If accused attacked & were trying to flee, then retaliation was necessary
But,
- If not true, it amounts to custodial death(not encounter)
- Will open a pandora's box with similar demands in different cases
- Against the established structure of state(sep of powers)
Personal opinion: Against both CAB & encounter
I learned a peculiar thing yesterday, that an undertrial cannot be handcuffed. Only a person convicted in a court can be handcuffed. In Hyderabad vet murder case, all the 4 accused were not in handcuffs and may that gave them an opportunity to run.

@CaesarSuppose bill is passed. You put this opinion, now interviewer asks u ,"So u think govt did a blunder by passing this?" What will be your response?

well if I had that option a whole lot of such fellows would have been dead by now given the long list of people who have got on my nerves on different occasions!
at a tea stall, some friends were praising shashi tharoor for his 'brilliant speech in lok sabha.' their faces were lit with the light of pure delight for this man.
hearing their discussion, a guy beside them got agitated. he said, 'is desh ki vidambana hi yahi hai ki angrej toh chale gye lekin unki hukumat nahi gayi...'
the friends were startled at this uninvited aggression. they all looked at him.
the guy continued, 'aap log bas koi achhe kapde pahan kar acchi angreji bol de toh uske kaayal ho jaate hain... are aisa kya bol diya tharoor ne jo subah subah uski mahima mandan kar rahe hain?'
'toh angreji bolna gunaah hai kya?' one of the friends said.
‘gunaah toh nahi hai, lekin koi uplabdhi bhi nahi hai,’ the guy said. ‘baat kaise kahi ja rahi hai usse jyada mahatvapurna kya baat kahi ja rahi hai, wo hai. aisa agar nahi hota na toh europaai sabhyata ke sabhi log hum sab se ujjwal hote kyuki wo sab toh angreji bolte hain na.’
‘are premchand, toh aap bhi kuchh angreji padh lijiye.’ the friends smiled at this reply of one among them.
‘nahi kuchh bol pa rahe toh vyang hi toh karenge na… are aap log shakespeare ki thee thou anyhow padhke vidwan bante firte hain… kabhi nirala, nirmal varma, muktibodh jaiso ko bhi padhiye,’ the guy said.
‘aap bhi kabhi nabokov ki lolita padh ke dekhiye… aur suniye, naam sunke sankoch mat kijiyega… manohar kahaniya nahi hai,’ someone else from among the friends said.
‘haan haan aapki quality pta chalti hai, premchand toh padhe nahi honge lekin manohar kahaniya ke baare me itni pta hai… aap log me se kisi ka English literature vaikalpik vishay toh nahi hi hoga lekin mera hindi sahitya hai, samjhe na.’
‘haan toh aap lijiye optional bhavnaaon me beh ke, hum log toh rationally decide kiye hain.’
‘ye aapki galatfahmi hai ki bhavnaaon me behne se number nahi aate hain. Aap log bhi unme se hi honge jo prarambhik pariksha me agar puchh diya jata hai ki Mricchakatika kisne likhi toh bhramit ho jaate hai ki bhasa ne likhi ki sudraka ne.’
fearing that the squabble might go out of hand, the tea seller, trying very hard not to offend them, requested them all to continue their ‘vaartalaap’ at their place, as ‘logon ke baithne ke liye jagah nahi hai.’
both side departed with the feeling that they had won, and that given more time, they would have thoroughly routed the other side.
