Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@Ithriveoncocaineit's a vicious cycle. Ok if u have it under control, but many people lose it and that's where the prob begins. You just can't keep your mind & body under control without it. Read that Heath Ledger used to say that he cant stop thinking & chattering in his mind. Probably that's what leads to an OD. Also read about a mathematician, could not function w/o drugs, pretty unconventional, did not had a home, used to live in universities, hopping place to place.
@ManchesterUnited
My 3rd mains last 2 times i did not join any test series so completion of paper quality and structure of answer was poor but this time i did join test series and i feel i hav done well on structuring and content part except for avg pergormance in gs 1 alomg with bouncer in optional paper 2. Few people i have talked to who has given interview has laid stress on completion of paper and avg content, and most of all your inner feeling after the exam is also a good guide if you feel you have performed well then chances are good for you
@Ithriveoncocainerules are to ensure smooth movement when. There is traffic. I think there is enough discretion for people to skip a rule in cases like these. I will skip the red light. This discretion should not be abused though.
@ManchesterUnited3rd attempt...2nd mains..cleared Mains 2017 but was at the borderline....153/100/98/116/82 were my GS marks..since my score in essay was decent(meaning that writing style was fyn) ,probably inability to complete GS papers(2-3 quest in each paper) accounted for low marks..hence this year I focused on paper completion..practising papers helped a lot..I think for first timers irrespective of the mains result...mains mark sheet is hell of a resource..it provides valuable feedback regarding one’s approach..writing style etc which I think is the most important aspect in this exam..(content is bound to improve wid time)
@ManchesterUnitedin essay paper I was not prepared to handle philosophical topics. I didn't write good essay last year. Also I started with story but it didn't go well. Overall essay performance was poor
In GS1 I left around 30 marks. Also I spent more time on ten marks. Last 15 markers were completed in hurry. More content for ten markers n less for 15 markers. This happened across all the gs papers.
In gs2 I didn't use constitutional articles n judgements. I got 94. Again I left two 15 markers.
Gs3 and gs4 went good.
Optional paper1 anthropology: I left questions of around 45 marks blank. Also few questions didn't have good quality.
In paper2 I left 15 marks. Ten markers didn't go well last time. Limited use of case studies nd thinkers.
This time I had worked on all these limitations. I was prepared for philosophical topics. In gs I attempted few questions poorly bt didn't left any one blank. Optional went well. Attempted all with good content in most of questions

@ManchesterUnitedThis is my 4th attempt and 3rd mains-2016,17,this year.
2016- 1st mains wrote good, no idea of marking or results tension. Cleared mains with slim margin of 10 marks. missed final by 40 marks[ interview-151 Bassi sir, GS 2-72]
2017- unhealthy, less preperation, Didnt write the factual qns like nuclear stages,budget and so on well. Also blunder of writing 10 markers first with spending less time on 15 markers effected my chance of clearing mains[ got 750, gs2 -once again 82 despite writing better]
2018 didnt give attempt
2019- All pprs went good, expecting to clear but feeling so tensed unlike earlier years.
All these yrs i tried to improve gs2 with less reward and i still dont know why i end up getting below avg marks in that ppr. So, this yr i focused more on optional.
@charantejIska answer bhi pure speculation hai. Nothing concrete to support his claim
@chaitanya0458Acc to u, How was difficulty level compared to 2017
@vvvikas0078212To be frank, in 2017 pprs were easy. Many direct qns came and it cant be compared with this yrs- both GS and optional. In Anthro i feel, more and more specific qns are being asked unlike earlier yrs were most of the qns used to be direct.
@chaitanya0458I also felt 2017 was mostly from 365 topics in gs2 & gs3. I got below avg in gs3 due to lack of revision I guess
