While talking about EWS.

I know reservations are a touchy subject and whatever I say can become contraversial.

But there seems to be lot of scope for misuse or it's benefits not reaching genuine individuals.

I personally knew few friends, who got EWS certificates despite being financially well off.

One of my friends, who is in a AIS, was ready to go to an extent of taking a long leave for 2-3 years, transferring family assets onto name of benami, so that he can get an EWS certificate and fulfill his obsession of becoming an IAS.

His argument is. Getting under 72 in this exam is so much based on luck , but getting under 400 is somewhat possible and EWS can help with it .

While i don't know, the actual process of how this issuing EWS cert. and how it's verification works at ground level

But atleast govt should do something, so that it won't give unfair advantage to undeserving candidates.

Leaving her court case aside, it must be truly heart wrecking to get a under 70 rank, join the academy and get called back to be told about cancellation of candidature.

I wonder if she would have appeared again, who knows she might just get a rank this time.

Her family itr was beyond 4 lacs means income in range of 25 lacs , that’s why it’s cancelled

and even 4600 gp (9 month salary less than 8 lacs so they are in provided fulfill other criteria

Family income wasn't in the range of 25 lakhs nor was the ITR 4 lakhs. Cumulative income of her and her father's crossed 8 lakhs and it was around 9.5 lakhs.

@TheFinalStand whats so touchy about this subject
if a person is clearly well off and taking benefits of reservation, then it must be called out for what it is.

any sort of reservation , if is being misused, is not harming UR candidates as much as it is harming the real deserving ones.
sad part is government is not tightening its screws on this for some reason beyond my comprehension.
no one is asking doing away with it. just give it too needy.

But those getting to lick the cream won't let the status quo change..

I feel a bit disheartened when my colleague gets same salary..reads same books but gets qualified just because he was born in a particular caste..

Get rank 500.. still get IAS.. In gen.. rank 80.. won't get ias.. problem is all those around me having availed reservation benefit belong to well to do families..

Now discrimination is not on caste.. but economic status..

U have money..u can enjoy lavish life..get club membership.. if you are poor..no matter which caste..u cannot enter the gate..

Indeed there should be creamy layer in all categories..

See example of meenas in rajasthan.. politically dominant..living style is luxurious..

But claim to be tribals.. that's another debate altogether.. any result u see.. st category is eaten up by meenas..

Anyways.. this is india.. we have to learn to live and assume that seats are only 40%...

@D503 Thanks for the wonderful write up. Thats what he wants to do, develop image, divide on varied social variables so that people keep themselves busy in that. Supporters utilising this time to take upon small steps towards their distant dream of la la land. Whatever little criticism is shown is either labelled as tukde tukde gang/leftist etc. Even transgenders have to wage protest for months at a stretch just for their consultation in the bill regarding their rights. Doesn't govt should have taken it at initial stages itself ? If not initial may be after few voices of protest but not they keep delaying it to a deadly end. Same happened with farmers law. Similarly, whatever labour reforms they have brought seems just regressive to me on just a plain reading of Vision. Don't know if policy makers don't see it. Such shameful times to be part of!

Rightly said brother , 40% seats. Highest cutoff to cross  Yahi reality hai . One distant friend of Mine is from reserved category . No worry of attempt/age , economically well off recently his father bought him ipad . Wahi coaching wahi testes series all facilities available to him .
