@Sahilkumar  I feel you have written one of a good essay that can fetch you very good marks provided...
1. Coherence of thoughts

2. You explained your premise clearly after the introduction

3. Shown optimism and sprinkled good examples.

Because, this is not a topic as straight as Good parenting makes good world.

So, there is lot of scope of creativity and upsc wants that originality.

If we think the topic means motherhood, we feel we are deviated.
But there is no such thing called it means motherhood only, except in English litterature and that too in the annotation of that particular poem.

So, chill.

It's symbolism of unity in diversity shown by UPSC.

You are right bro..

Next time question comes on border management then we should write about nuclear deterrence to expand the scope of creativity.. because both are related to security aspects.. we can highlight about NPT, CTBT, Iran Nuclear deal ... Cyber attack by Israel on Iranian nuclear facility, killing of Iranian nuclear scientists.. so on and so forth..

You see, one essay topic can open up multiple dimensions..They just need to be explored and presented beautifully..

Topics are given so that you can write first few paras about that.. rest you can write anything what creativity permits..

In my essay I clubbed content from all 8 essay topics to make it more appealing and look more creative.. it added to more dimensions that one can imagine..

Creativity is the key to get higher marks...

Perception-reaction vale me kya likha h .Can anybody share ~

wrote a story on how Amdebkar was treated in schools due to his caste(reflection of the teachers attitude towards him and how successfully he excelled in academics and gave the constitution(reaction of him=self belief in himself).

Then a brief background on the definitions of perception and attitude.

Then wrote how the USA India and USA Japan relations were altered. Wrote how Indra Gandhi was treated in USA and how we did Green revolution as a remedy.

Moved on to sachin tendulkar( Perception due to his short height and how he became the God of cricket later).

Then how doctors inspite of being attacked sometimes for not treating covid patients well(perception), but still carry on with their duties.

Concluded by stating all this reflects the judgemental attitude and quoted Mother Teresa who said love in important that judgmental.

I first wrote about kant noumena nd phenomena. Then I wrote how perception are influenced by value one posses .Then I told how society , family ,school inculcate values in people .

Then I wrote about emotional intelligence nd defined it

Then I wrote about relevance of this statement in present context .Social political economy ..Etc dimensions .

Such as .Farm laws were based on capitalist value of govt while resistance by farmers was their self awareness about their problem .

China aggression in galwan was their perception that india is weak while india reaction was it's self awareness about its capacity

Similarly .Britishers english education while indians used it for understanding their own history by using that english education ..

Etc etc etc .

But I think I messed it up in conclusion as I couldn't connect it with the body of the essay .Wrote kalam's quote at end ..Harmony in society nd peace in world vala .

10 marks mean, most probably misunderstood the meaning of both the essays and may have wrote even the opposite of the requirement.

Don't understand subheadings in an essay. It breaks the flow.

If I am not wrong "The hand that rocks the cradle" was an essay topic in some previous paper as well.. I don't remember the year..

2005

I believe the cradle topic is essentially about women empowerment..

Rest.. the upsc in its wisdom may decide otherwise..

I do Not think that it is essentially on women only. Because in the 2005 essay paper, one question was also of women empowerment explicitly. How come they give 2 essays on one topic. Yes I know that poem of the very same name..but yet. Also this classification was done by the author of this book.

Once upon a time, In UPSC CSE..an essay on 'engenderisation of development' came. Now engenderisation has 2 different meanings. Shashi Tharoor tweeted on that and The exam controller came with a clarification that all the interpretations willbe taken.

Perception-reaction vale me kya likha h .Can anybody share ~

Started with Swami Vivekananda conference in usa where some group labelled him as uncivilized due to his dressing but swamiji came up with soft convincing why dressing is not the value to judge.

Gave perception of patriarchy and the different response of women such as one bog down another become one like sushma swaraj.

Similarly perception of British toward India and the subsequent response of Gandhi approach.

Also similar dimension of Ambedkar and caste system, India & Palestine approach.

Then talked about why perception matters and how we can change perception and the subsequent response. Concluded by way forward like value education, Compassionate perception, and the role of leadership in imbibing perception and response.

While writing conclusion, became deluded bcoz have to finish fast and thus not able to connect with main demand of topic.

Other one I wrote was Research is the blind date of knowledge wala. Which one you wrote in 2nd essay?

@Arsene I started this essay with Saina Nehwal winning Bronze medal in 2012 Olympics and role of her parents and not only mother. Parents dimensions was done for 3-4 pages. After that, rest all other points

One thing I feel that writing on women only makes it unidimensional. Yes, you can find several dimensions there too..like women in health, education, etc but yet it will be one directional only. Since I am not a student of English literature, I didn't know it was about mother.  So, like all other fellas, it wrote about other dimensions too.

One thing more guys, most of the essays are taken verbatim from a particular source. Now I think that it is not necessary to hit the very sharp bull's eye and write on that dimension alone.

And cradle toh Papa aur aapke nathkat pets bhi jhula sakte hain..mom hi kyu😀😀

It was in 2016. I had written that essay😅 I remember the shock I had, when my roommate, while returning after the exam, told me that engendering means something else. I googled the meaning and true, it's meaning was "to cause or produce". I had taken it as gender topic. But with the first meaning, actually the sentence became meaningless. So I searched the entire sentence, and turns out, it was about gender and that quote was from a speach made by Mahbub ul haq, the brain behind human development index. So, had Tarur not tweeted about it, pretty sure UPSC would've gone ahead with the conventional interpretation.

Even after Tharoor tweet, don't understand how UPSC could give marks or what people can write with that meaning. See that UPSC said "acceptable interpretations" will be evaluated. Now apply the meaning "cause / give rise to" to that statement. "Lack of caused development is endangered development" ??? 😅

If I knew the real meaning of that word, I wouldn't have attempted that question (like my roommate). But still don't understand what people could write with the other interpretation.

Also see the Hindu translation provided by UPSC (I think it was after that year that people realised the importance of accompanying Hindi translation. At least I did).

@Philip_Marlowe yes they have mentioned that coherence is important. the moment i put subheadings in there, this coherence is lost
