I constantly get dreams of the mains exam. In my dreams, the exam is yet to happen and I have not yet revised my optional paper...saari neend kharab ho jati hai🤭😀

Ye toh fir bhi acha h.. main toh sapna dekhta hoon ki main sota reh gya aur paper choot gya

Itne overlapping sapne...

Maine v kuchh aisa hi dekha..

Moreover,  I could not complete the Hindi compulsory paper.. could barely write few sentences..

@Declared_Dead from which source you are preparing for UP specific questions?

@Declared_Dead from which source you are preparing for UP specific questions?

Watching YouTube videos and trying to get into rhythm.. not following any specific book.. I don't think devoting time for up specific questions is needed.. as only 1-2 up specific questions are asked..

Uppcs mei up ke liye kuch alag sey prepare karne ki zarurat nahi, jo desh ki problems hain in agri education services pollution, etc woh UP ki bhi hain hi . Bas Up govt ki schemes aur UP ki history aur geographical parts upar upar sey dekh jaana. Mera uddhar  hua tha 2018 mei, aapka bhi ho😊

My dreams are much worse..

For atleast 2-3 nights a week..i get nightmares of mains flunking..all that cluelessness, that heart break etc etc..only to be relieved by the fact that it's a bad dream.

Worst part is due to multiple failure experiences across this journey..i know how exactly it feels like ..so I'm practically re living all that pain.. whenever that dream comes.

But thankfully their frequency decreased now..as i am completely staying away from prep these days 😂(which btw is not at all a good thing😂😂)

How have you guys interpreted "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."? Motherhood and nurturing the child or women empowerment in general?

can anyone help me with choosing one of these to kickstart pre prep:

- starting with core books (4 in number) ->efficiency will reduce but satisfaction will be high. experience tells me that revising without practising is time wasted more or less.

-doing previous year mocks (sectional)->i have not yet bought this year mocks. sectionals hardly make any difference

-revising ncerts ->i dont underestimate them. so revising is important for me. especially for geo and economy.

-clearing my current affair backlogs (quiz + monthly) and ES/ISFR

another related doubt:

is it wise to devote full time/day to prelim prep now. I am not someone who is particularly confident of prelims. dont think anyone is but will speak for myself.

in that scenario is it wise to add value for mains (i have no formal notes for mains but faced no particular issue in that area as far as writing mains was concerned).

am i dangerously missing out on something here? (mains notes)

since past months, i was focussing on optional topper notes value additions.

@VarshaK I interpreted this topic  very differently. I haven't mentioned about motherhood. I discussed about people (also societies, civilisation, etc) which takes initiative, show compassion, provide new ideas and show courage etc plays critical role in shaping world order and thus rule the world. I think i missed the core demand. Let's see how upsc will evaluate it.

I interpreted it as, 'mothers model/guide the next generation', but didn't attempt it, as that conventional interpretation has a misogynist angle to it😅

@vish_rat2116865 That makes sense too. Don't know how generous UPSC is with the interpretations.

I've not emphasised that much on the modeling/guiding part and took a broader interpretation of 'rules the world'. Feel like missed the main demand of the topic.

I wrote on this topic. It was like role of parents, teachers, colleagues, joint family, doctors. Also I wrote how they rule (chanakya-chandragupta) (Aristotle-alexander). I also wrote how the rule shouldn't be (like nepotism, favouritism).

I added that in 1947, the nation was in a cradle and constituent assembly nurtured it through several acts.

The underline was that the person as a whole remains in a safety net of the society and shall give back to it in a proper way.🙂

@vish_rat2116865 youve written good if youve written in a way that core demand of quote is satisfied by you. nowhere is it written that motherhood has to be focussed on. when i saw this quote first i interepreted it likw this:
-hand = developed countries
-cradle= everything needed tfor sruvival like climate, humanity etc
so the hand is rocking the cradle and ruling the world.
ofcourse motherhood is one aspect. Its because of MKG's mother that he became what he became and now india is poised to rule the world. SHG etc. but you cant be just focussed on women issues alone. various interpretations of hand and cradle and therby hand ruling the world could be seen.

I'd say, it's better to leave that topic if there's a confusion regarding the interpretation. Why take a chance?
