CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

Dear good people of ORN, I was thinking of shifting to ORN from 1st July 2022 for Mains prep in case I clear Prelims. Looking for some pointers to keep in mind and any concerns, suggestions and perceived benefits I should be aware of, or if it is a bad decision overall. Please let me know the basics. I have prepared from home for 2 years but home-based Mains Test Series last year ended up being a matter of procrastination and inadequate work on feedback. Feel free to DM me in case some things are better left unsaid here. Thank you so much! PS: I stay 100 kms (2 hours) drive away from ORN.

Help! 2k views and no response. I am starting to feel this move is a bad idea. :/

I’ve lived in ORN during my coaching days before Covid hit and since then I’ve been preparing from home.
I generally advise against it since now one can prepare from their home easily kudos to most things going online.
However, ultimately it depends on what frame of mind one is in. Some people work well in a challenging environment, which ORN will give you definitely: food, living, rent, water, weather, loneliness etc, you’ll get all these and more in abundance. On the other hand, it also provides you easy access to materials, opportunity to give tests in a ‘realistic’ environment, access to teachers etc.

I’ve observed that a person who isn’t at ORN generally wants to go there primarily due to the ‘environment’ factor and those who are at ORN yearn for home.
Last time I gave my tests from home, minimal challenging conditions and didn’t face any problems while attempting the actual mains paper. While it’s different for everyone, I personally didn’t feel the need to go give the tests at institute premises despite living only a reasonable distance away. This time however I’m thinking of giving at least a few tests in person to improve on the spot thinking abilities.

So in the end, if you shift, it’ll be a challenge surely but achieving something requires sacrifices. If you feel you’re unable to go the extra mile at home, shift and just ignore the challenges. If you can study at home effectively and you feel you require your family’s emotional support and comfort, you won’t be missing on too much. In that case, a month before mains you could come down for a couple of days and attempt 2 tests each on consecutive days to gauge your performance and adapt accordingly.
Discipline ultimately is a mental choice and moving to ORN wouldn’t magically inculcate that and neither would staying at home keep it elusive. For tests I’ve felt procrastination comes from the feeling of not being adequately prepared so for that I’d just say, no one feels adequately prepared even on the eve of the actual exams.
I don’t want to complicate the decision isliye just do what the heart says :)

@Vikileaks brother, alexa is sold by many sellers other than amazon on amazon platform. Some Etrade named company is the prime seller, amazon just provides the platform.

Hey guys, Hello@Neyawnsir

It seems current affair classes for mains 2022 would be started from 18 june onwards, As i am one of the students who's very near the expected cutoff, i was wondering if another batch would be there after results of prelims are announced ?

The last paragraph hit home. Thank you for taking out the time to explain so well. This would definitely help me reach a decision. I shall attempt 2 tests from the institute premises before finalizing this by visiting over the weekend maybe. Thanks much!
