Reading this it felt amazing that we get to study and learn freely about such a vast variety of subjects. Lest we forget the giants on whose shoulders we stand :)

Glad to know there was action taken. He might as well have seated the girl covered in gold on the table too to brag about.

In more aware circles, "gifts" would be exchanged and such things would never come to light. The silver lining is the locals at least seem to be siding with the authorities.

Always a pleasure to read about the far fetched thinking of the moderates.

Let me add another one, this time by the pupil, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, talking about their efforts in 1907-

“Let us not forget that we are at a stage of the country’s progress when our achievements are bound to be small, and our disappointments frequent and trying. That is the place Which it has pleased Providence to assign to us in this struggle, and our responsibility is ended when we have done the work which belongs to that place. It will, no doubt, be given to our countrymen of future generations to serve India by their successes; we, of the present generation, must be content to serve her mainly by our failures. For, hard though it be, out of those failures the strength will come which in the end will accomplish great tasks.”

@whatonly which book is this? I think the last para is in SR notes as well but the background context was so different from what I thought, reading the original text is so much more interesting.

The picture itself is fromThe Microphone Men: How Orators Created a Modern Indiaby Priyadarshi Dutta. But here he is quoting from Gokhale's autobiography itself. SR notes do cast a wide net :D

Is it just me or vision's monthly contains too much fluff? Take this page for example. In prelims, questions about reports are mostly limited to which organization published them. In mains also, they are not likely to ask a separate question in environment based on such a report. Then why so much needless info?!

@THE_MECHANICFOMO is too strong. Skipping such articles feels bad, while reading and making needless highlights also stresses me out.

Recently, I have taken a lot of liking to Reading Yojana. Absolutely loving it. Is anyone experiencing a similar resurgence for the once-abandoned love? :D

Someone here mentioned rau's daily news analysis on YouTube.

Can anyone quickly review it? Is it worth spending 40 min of my day everyday?
