Saw her today after 6 years and was mesmerized by her beauty. She looked stunningly beautiful , or should I say divine and otherworldly ? She was my school time love . We talked for 2 hours , I was totally hypnotized while talking to her. I was drawn in by her hazel eyes and captured by her smile. I felt like I had known her my whole life and we have just been separated, so we had a lot to catch up.
I tried cracking some lame jokes to break the ice. And she giggled, oh god, my heart skipped a beat. We talked about our lives, she has completed her masters , her dad is about to retire , her brother whom I hated got covid few weeks ago but now he is doing well.
She asked me whether I still play my useless guitar and sing those 90s Bollywood songs hopelessly . I told her I have not touched it since last six months . The tabs and chords which I sometimes used to make her feel good are now lying somewhere in a corner of my head. I have even forgotten how to play DDLJ tone. My finger tips have healed from the scratches of the strings .
After few minutes, two hours passed. It was time to bid adieu. Finally I mustered the courage to tell her that she looked beautiful. She touched her hair and said 'thanks'. After a final bye we parted ways.
Now I am back to studying Ethics. Will write a mock test this Saturday.
🥲🥲 Had a similar experience just after giving this year's mains. I avoided meeting her during the gap between gs and optional exams.
Time does fly when meeting such people. 😅

In ethics case studies, word limit indicated is 250. Most of the toppers copies reflect answers much more than this limit. While trying to write core issue/ethical dilemma of the case study, stakeholders, pros/cons, suggestions etc would definitely exceed the word limit.
Is UPSC expecting brevity from us in this aspect? Would like to know if anyone has faced similar problems and any possible ways to overcome it
My feeling is that: if actually one tries to write within 250 words, time also should be sufficient but writing more in case studies is leaving less time for theory portion, thereby difficulty in completing overall paper

Exactly the same issue i faced.
vision has given 5 pages per case study in their ethics mock test.
How many pages are given in the real exam for writing a case study ?

What I recall is: 3 pages for most, occasionally 4 in exam booklet(depends on length of case study and its translation). Others can correct this.
Most of vision toppers booklet has this menace: To be specific, I reviewed Visakha Yadav's booklet a while ago, and actually counted words to see if this can be realistically replicated in exam hall. Figured out that there were more than 400 words on most case studies.
I'm not sure how she could have written them, legibly in given time. That is for another discussion but I'm intrigued by this: 250 word limit for case studies, is writing more penalised?
Or general pattern we see about incorporating stakeholders, ethical dilemmas, pros/cons, suggestions etc etc is misleading and if UPSC actually is not expecting all of that
I love your username! Never thought I would see Jo March here :’)
For some reason, I find it very hard to complete mains mock test within 3 hours. When I gave them in test centre it wasnt that hard. Even more easier so in actual exam hall due to adrenaline rush and pressure. But now at home, even if I eliminate all distractions, I am still finding it hard. I am certain its procrastination. Any suggestions most welcome.
I m fretting about this more than I should
Today, I saw an ad on The Hindu about Communist Party of China celebrating 100th year. This is not the first time but has happened quite a few times before too. Is it appropriate and ethical for Indian newspaper particularly when Indian soldiers were killed not too far long ago. I agree both are not linked but isnt it hurtful to those families.
I know this is only an ad and I am all for rights of any newspaper to earn revenue what it deems fair, free to publish their own views and heck even free to write an article celebrating this anniversary. But I want to ask where should the line be drawn, if at all it is to be done. So it breaks down to whether its jingoism, which is not certainly helpful, or understanding and appreciating the sensitivities, especially when it has a wide readership across the country.
I am sorry for digressing from this thread, I have been meaning to ask your views on this. Thank you.
Has anyone referred to Only IAS notes on their website? How are they generally? If not, can you please recommend some other website which has static notes on all parts of mains syllabus (including mains only topics like governance, security etc.) ? Thanks.
I downloaded their society, internal security, disaster management notes.
Have gone through only society notes as of now . And I find them very good.
I personally don't like Vision Ias value addition(which I guess 90% people go through), only because I find it quite boring to be honest. So, Only IAs really was the better choice for me.
You can download some from their telegram group/website and see for yourself .

Question is if chinese embassy wants to publish an ad in a leading daily, can you deny them the permission ? Presuming this ad was at behest of embassy. Also related to this question is the ethics of receiving health supplies from china during covid. Would it be ethical given the hostilities? Is it possible to take aid and deny ads.
That aside, A similar question beckoned to me yesterday when YouTube recommended a few chinese videos to me. I noticed how Mao statues and pictures dot china. I thought this guy is so important in chinese history that the apparently athiestic people have elevated him to the status of a God yet I know nothing about him except ofcourse SR's famous power comes through the barrel of gun, and superficial understanding of great leap forward, cultural revolution so on so forth. But then should I really read about him given the war history and most importantly given that people can legit get arrested for possesing maoist literature (whatever that means)?
