Civil Services Mains 2020 Results: In or Out ? Way ahead, gratitude and Pain
The Civils Mains result has been declared. This thread is for sharing your grief , joy , mixed feelings - absolutely anything and everything.
People will tell they went to iit.But won't tell that they got into it with 1 lakh rank(if you know what i mean) when I missed it despite getting 10678 rank(those days new IITs hav'nt come up in such huge numbers as they r today)
They will tell you they went to IIM Ahmedabad but wont tell they got there with 82 percentile.While I had to contend with IIM Lucknow,Indore and Kozhikode despite a 99.5 percentile(if you know what I mean).
Similarly people advised me last year about writing mains answer because they had got 750s rank.When marks came I had more marks than them,but I did'nt get interview call(if you know what I mean)
Anyways,frustration of abhilash in episode 5 sitting on that tea shop was genuine.Many feel the same way.
If you know what I mean.Anyways there is no point in discussing things I can't change.Best of luck to all of us.
1 thing I realized here is that people will discuss very high intelluctual things.Tell you that they xyz rank or have done pqr things.They put you down.
But when you do background check you come to know you knew much more than them,had better marks than them.

I am sorry that you had to feel this way. I m not going to counter your arguments. I just want to add one thing which I have been meaning to since the discussion began on Aspirants TV show's lack of diversity.
I myself am a partially deaf and naturally felt personally insulting the way Abhilash mocked Guri. But thats normal for me since I have been facing this since birth. Though not much is known about Guri's background and assuming that he really is partially deaf and not faking it, they made it seem that Guri do not deserve to get benefit. Mind you I dont personally believe that reservations is the way forward as I would have benefitted much from disable friendly and inclusive facilities right from school to college and finally in a workplace. I felt that show wanted to highlight that system was partial towards reserved communities and since it would be controversial to point out caste based communities, they found one of PH categories an easy target, which form 1% of total seats.
It is even more challenging for deaf community since it is not easily visible that one has a problem and many tend to think they are faking it. So I just wanted to express this since you all would go on to become future administrators and inclusivity doesnt just include caste, class and gender.
I dont know what made you think that what Abhilash felt would be shared by many. Its possible that many do, but I think this kind of thinking ultimately prohibits reaching a solution that would solve these problems. Of course bragging and all is plain wrong irrespective of the rank whether one gets top 100 or bottom 100
I did not think from this perspective at all. Don't know why. My first instinct when Abhilash had that outburst and shamed Guri for what was rightfully his, was that yes pretty rightly shown, well done TVF. TVF You very well shown that those who get selected and become IAS officers are not the super heroes of social justice working and believing in equality of opportunity of all every time. They are after all Aspirants who for their aspirations may ignore a lot of other things. They are not all good glorified heroes of the country like TVF tried to show in the earlier episodes.
But now I realised that may be some people watching had a feeling that Yes abhilash is right in saying all this. Just never thought of it and am thinking now.

Thanks for writing this. It just goes to portray that how there is no better person to talk about the sufferings than the one who actually suffers. Something so hurting to you just swooshed past most of the people as they did not experience it.

You talk about veiled fashion- I have seen it. In my village people form the neighbouring SC community however old they are not allowed to sit on the chair and some young lads sit on chair in front of them. I didn't knew it as I haven't seen it earlier but when I saw that happening in front of me , couldn't just hold up my anger as well as my frustation of being trapped in this kind of society where you cannot even raise voice against the wrong doings.
- similarly there have been a casteist slur very common in my area "chamar" (sorry for using this word- but this is a caste! All my life I thought this was a abusive word only- thats how we grow up) ,i see people so loosely using this word (in a derogatory manner) to whosoever does something unhygenic so to say .
Its prevalent people , come in UP you would see it. And how much you try you cannot chnage this , I tried in my family but to no avail. They understand its wrong but they can't change it.
Me too, mate. I’ve always been very vocal against all this in my family. I regularly call out people, adults or my age alike on such problematic behaviour. I’ve been doing this for years now. I was looked upon as a gullible and naive teenager before. This has gotten better, but most would still see me as a rebel. I don’t mind that at all, so intend to continue it. :P
