Forum Open test question:

With reference to the early Medieval period in India (800 to 1200 AD), consider the following statements:

1. The fall of the Roman empire drastically reduced India's trade with the West.

Is this statement correct or not? A previous test somewhere said there was a drastic decrease, but answer key says this statement is false. Barring the usual funda of "drastic" word, can anyone confirm what really happened?

@jassikamboj16303 Actually around 1000 AD Arab came into picture which revived India's trade.

Can someone tell me what exactly nuanced difference between assumption, inference, implication, conclusion

@PursuitofHappyness You can see it this way - efficiency is essentially ratio of output to input. If someone is more efficient, they are giving more output per unit of input. In this case the input is time, so Q can do 125 units of work in the same time as P does 100 units of work. To get to relative efficiency we have to assume the same amount of time for both - which is one day, in this problem. Hence you need to translate the problem in terms of work done in one day. You cannot solve the problem directly  with total number of days. If the problem mentioned that Q takes 25% less time than P to do the work then you could have done that.

I hope this makes sense.

@Master Yes. Actually I made a mistake. The phase of trade decline with Roman empire (which fell in 480 CE) coincides with Post Gupta and Harsha reign. So, there was a drastic decrease from about 500-900 CE before it was revived by Arabs in 1000 AD. Would that be a correct analysis?

Anyone idea about prelims marks? Or it will also come after forest service interviews?

The answer is (C).

Shouldn't it be D? Because Animal fats/ oils do contain trans-fats.

All the options are incorrect btw, trans fats are partially hydrogenated since they're still unsaturated fats. Hydrogenated oils which are saturated fats need not contain trans fat.  So saying non-trans fat food is not hydrogenated is wrong.

@Nehab animal fats have natural trans fat I don't think they are considered while measuring trans fats.
