"When in doubt, observe and ask questions. When certain, observe at length and ask many more questions."
Created this thread as a one stop solution for all members so that all the doubts wherein any conceptual clarification is required can be solved here.
@Archand Yes, the answer is B) but I'm consuming lot more time than required. Even after that I missed one equation.
To tackle missing equations, it is best to first identify the bottlenecks. Like the Rs 50 note is a bottleneck here and you can derive the other cases through it. If we do it arbitrarily we often miss out, happens to all of us!
Not sure how to tackle the time problem, if I spend more time on a particular question then I just skip it. Enough questions for us to solve in the paper, we need to ensure that we see them at least once.
how one will proceed ? Not able to grasp this question. Main to answer isme wo laa raha hun jo ki options main hi nahi hai😅
1 digit number ->1-9 =9
2 digit number ->10-99= 90*2=180
3 digit number->100-999=900*3=2700
Total digits used till now = 2700+180+9=2889, total digits to get=3089 =>remaining digits= 3089-2889=200
=>total 4 digit number= 4*x=200 =>x=50 =>50th 4 digit number is 1049 which is the answer.
@D503 can I also say it because of garo hills are situated on western most margin and as Britishers were expanding from eastern side so they would have firstly came in the contact with garo ?Just trying to make a sense. What's the answer?
I also guessed using same logic, but answer is Khasi
Was rice present in Indus valley diet ?

Simplify the equations and make it a two-variable equation which will make it easier for you to deal with.
the equation would be y+5z=(107-x)/10 (where x=1 rs , y= 10, z=50), now y+5z is an integer =>x has to be 7,17,27 and so on. we get corresponding equations y+5z=10,9,8,7,.....0. If you solve for every value you will get 18 solutions.
2019 paper...two answers in official UPSC keys really bamboozled me:
1. When a State Legislature does not have a rule on a particular matter, itfollows theLok Sabha rule on that matter. This statement is correct.
2. The Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2010 were framed by the Government of India based on the recommendation of Ramsar Convention. This statement isnot correct.
No discussions required.....UPSC ne keh diya toh keh diya. Just sharing. Ratt lo bass

Abhi this year there will be more of such answers
Hey guys, I solved the Atish mathur mock that someone posted here yesterday.
It was a decent paper. If anyone is looking for a mock to solve, you may do that.
I sat at exact 9:30 with omr sheet with me, trying to simulate the scenario at exam centre. I had slept at almost 2 last night, so just wanted to see if I would be feeling sleepy or not. And honestly, I was feeling sleepy before 9:30, but sleep just vanished after I saw the paper.
I just hope I reproduce the same performance on 10th also. Fingers crossed 🤞
I need a paper for simulation before 10th, can someone suggest any? Not going with atish because I solved around 4 tests and they didn't seem lengthy like 2020 paper.
@sjerngal which one did you attempt and your score?

I gave test 7... Scored 116...
I did not find it less lengthy as I finished it with still 15 minutes left. Whereas I usually solve the paper faster than this..
Anyway, I do believe that when we are actually giving the exam, we will always find it lengthy because we think more before marking any option in the actual exam...
I have not solved mocks from many different institutes, but shankar open mock of 19th sept was decent.. I don't know about the latest one..
