Geography optional Mains 2019 discussion | Lessons Learnt
Where are all the poor souls of geo in forum ?
Guys... What do you think about paper 1 ? Would it be like 2017 where people claimed they got much more than expected due to some lenient correction ?
Similarly in paper 2 I found that I had very less case studies and facts to quote on paper. Pls do comment so that we can have a gauge of the way optional is going.

@Bubba_gumpdon't go by there test score. Real marks will vary alot.
@Scorpion888but some questions were directly asked from 500+.
@Bubba_gump500+ is helpful only if u have covered the basics and have an overview.
It only helps to make ur answers a bit different n cover wide points and make them presentable.
One thing is that this tym i atleast understood the meaning of what was asked by upsc unlike last year where i couldn't decipher the ques at all
@Bubba_gumpyes like hdi examples i utilised in the ans and plate tectonics was asked in full length test
But this time upsc stumped by no ques from perspectives
And paper2 was more inclined to gs side

@Bubba_gumpu can say so. But i did not study every topic as i moved from important to less important topics.
Was hell scared due to last year paper1 and ques of perspectives so studied that in detail but got little returns
This year m expecting 240 due to base effect of last year and will be happy to cross even 250.
@Bubba_gumpit is bro. It's upto us to pick the relevent content. What sir teachers is small part of his total info. Also his coverage of paper2 is suboptimal.
@Bubba_gumpone guy i knw told me after xam that he knew perspectives will be missing as he analysed the trend and this was his 4th mains in a row.
@Bubba_gump2017 paper was similar, negligible weightage of perspectives in paper 1 and paper 2 was more of gs type.
Now the time to analyse our performance is long gone, engage yourself into something productive/interesting because firstly it'll reduce anxiety and secondly base for post result preparation would be built whether it's prelims centric knowledge of a topic or interview centric opinion formation on an issue.
