Respected seniors I am aspiring next year for upsc cse... please enlighten what will be effect of scaling this year as paper was dubbed as tough?

Predicting scaling in upsc is like predicting earthquakes- you can't! Plz check cse-2015 & cse-2013 geog marks or cse-2012 pubad marks. When paper is tough, scores are reduced. But, exceptions are there. So, regardless of difficulty level, choose optional based on interest. Geog anyway follows an odd-even pattern. So, you might get lucky next yr. ATB.

@Geoyes I agree this paper was more geo than gs. Need to insert theories and models in almost all questions. I used concentric ring model and examples of Delhi and Mumbai to explain land rent question. Showed that slums develop near the CBD area as poor cannot afford travel cost in the suburban areas. I guess they need core geo people this time ....

@Hartshorneyarr difficult to lay down parameters..but effective attempts, relevance, maps/ thinkers invoked, cmp to last yr performance etc etc

@al_birunididn't appear in 2018. 146 in 2016 and 131 in 2017. This time only 5 map entries correct. Not much hope.
