From insider sources came to know that upsc has been given some important project of national integration. This is causing all the delay.

At max it will require change in DAF-2 Format of the Service Prefer column, which requires a minor IT tinkering. But its India, anything can cause delay.

@NadigVinay2 years ago Railway board had made recommendation to induct all officers from Engineeering Services Exam. May be all vacancies will be transferred to Engineering stream.

@abhinav23raj436PIB release clearly states that recruitment will be for both engineers as well as non-engineers. So I believe that recruitment will be done through both ESE as well as CSE.

(i) merging all cadres beyond SAG (Seniir Administrative Grade)
(ii) Making 40-50% of SAG and above posts of all departments ex-cadre to be manned by officers of other departments and balance posts requiring specialized knowledge can be manned by specific domain officer,
(iii) have a single service of officers for Railways or maximum two services,
(iv) Merge Electrical & Mechanical cadres, merge IRPS (Indian Railways Personnel Service), IRTS (Indian Railways Traffic Service) & IRAS (Indian Railways Accounts Service) cadres.

@abhinav23raj436So possibly this merging would only affect SAG and above officers. And entry level domain specialisation of IRTS, IRAS, IRPS would continue uninterrupted, may be just with a name change to IRMS.

Is there any rule in notification that speaks of minimum gap between mains result and commencement of interviews?

Guys interviews would start in feb after interviews of forest service service?

@NadigVinayone point, don't think the details of it(merger) have been worked through completely, and Railways have already forwarded the list for this year vacancies, i think it would be applicable from next year, or one another year

Not sure what they mean with "ex-cadre" in this context. May be it just relates to more inter-cadre postings for generalist posts among different railway departments.

is it possible for vacancies to decrease post notifications , I have seen them increase but never heard about decrease

Is it worth taking another attempt if one is over 27 years ? I mean, for services like ifs, even ias, irs, the major policy work happens at the top level. One may retire before reaching that stage i wish to know the opinion of the senior players here. Is it worth it?
