Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

I am already working towards it but I want to calm down my emotions and stop overthinking. Stopping overthinking gives a lot of mental peace and happiness.

@kochikaameOverthinking drains us. Good you are working on it. A good book might become your friend.

Last year I made a resoln to get over my overly shy nature & talk to people, even strangers & random people. Did quite an improvement on that. This time I look for stability & moderation. Either I am too focussed studying or completely ignorant, too active doing things or completely passive. Want to bring that change.

@kochikaametry one thing, realise the moment when you are overthinking & ask(force) yourself to come back in 'the present'. If you have interest, read on Zen/Tao(one strong thing I read was that you and your thoughts are different, stories on not carrying things). Try something like skipping, writing, etc which keeps you focussed. These all helped me keeping out of the vicious cycle of OT.

@CaesarEven the greatest creation starts from small seed. Small changes make big impact. Even I worked on weight problem last year and now I am at 70 kgs from 83 kgs. Most of us are quiet conscious about physical health but give little attention to our mental health. The coming year, apart from many small changes I wish to achieve a calm and peaceful mind. I would work on internal strength. Wish ing you loads of success.

@CaesarEven I worked on my interaction problem. From interaction with few, now i interact with many. 2019 was certainly an year of transformation.

Thanks for the suggestion bhaai. I'll certainly read about them. As of now, I am trying to learn and practice Vipassana. I am in a very early stage right now but the whole emphasis of this exercise is to stay in the present.

@kochikaamebhai, do you take classes for vipassana or practicing at home? If practicing at home, could you share the process of doing it?

Any idea about result?

@BehemothI am doing it at home only as of now. It's a little difficult to write about it here in detail, so I would recommend reading about it or watching some videos or guided meditation. I am anyway very new to this but I enjoy whatever time I do it.

@kochikaame
Yes
Infact, unless u have undergone 10 days vipasana course at meditation centre, it is very difficult to comprehend. It is a process which takes time..

@Caesaromg, I too find myself way too absorbed either in UPSC stuff or my own wandering mind. I was never too outgoing to begin with, but after UPSC preparations, I think I have lost even the remaining semblance of socialization. How did you overcome your inhibitions/shyness?

@Behemothsame to you bhai, 13kgs(along with prep) is quite an achievement

@NalandaI agree, the 10 day guided Vipassana meditation course seems to be a must. I tried doing regular guided meditations last year by taking the subscription of an app called headspace. I think, I might have continued for about 5-6 months but didn't really find any tangible change in the wanderings of my kind. Albeit, I do agree that I wasn't very regular and at best, my max continuous streak was about 8-9 days. However, that being said, I do think that if someone does it regularly, it does help quite a bit in controlling this ongoing chatter in the mind.

@Aplharomeojust smile and talk(like they ask to do in front of the interview board?), once you cross the initial hurdle & fear( of saying a "hello") then it's much easier
