People complain so much about age, early start benefits, etc in UPSC, and it's true on many fronts. But when you see people like Rafael Nadal at age of 35, playing like a Vikings against a 10 year younger sportsperson, losing the first 2 sets and then coming back to win the next 3, You can't do anything but wonder. Truly amazing!

Ok, I will just give few example so that the discussion is just not on teachers. I am sorry if anyone got hurt due to statements on teachers. I respect teachers most.

This is based on my own experiences and few of my friends who are working at PSUs or government departments to point out the inefficient system

1. Fire Safety engineer at Bombay High - A minor fire was there. The seniors did not want to report it because it can have a negative impact on their career profile.
Result - A major fire took place few days later and my friend had to put his own life at stake to douse that fire. And yeah, they gave him an award for his bravery.

2. Biometric Attendance system not working at a renowned PSU - No one to correct it so that it can reveal the truth of their attendance. My friend took and tried to correct it. Nothing happened.

3. The street light in my locality failed. I wrote a mail and few of locality members visited the main office. No one came to fix that light. The employee came after 20 days and asked Rs. 100 for 'chai paani'

4.  Friend travelled in a train. Asked TTE to somehow give a confirmed birth from RAC. A waiting ticket person paid 100 and got the confirmed birth

5. Poor person wanted to get date at civil court. Peshkar asked him to pay Rs. 100. Person had come on cycle from ~20 KM. He had to give that money. In lunch, he had brought roti, namak and achar. Trust me, I am not making this up.

6. Friend wanted to submit his affidavit in SDM court. The peon asked him to pay 500. As per him, There were more than 100 affidavits submitted in that office that day.

This is how inefficient our things are. Privatisation may not be the solution but the current solution is rotten to the core. Just do the bare minimum and stick to the traditions. You will go high. :(

So I have the opportunity to work in a company that was former PSU and had been the first PSU in India to undergo disinvestment and eventually privatized. Let me brief you on some issues there prevailing right now.

1. No Job security: Our senior who was 5 years older than us was being removed without giving him any show-cause notice or asking for any counter-explanations. Reason? He used to come after 8:15 am every day, even though timings are flexible from 8-8:30(Remember The Family man scene? Yeah). Plus he used to leave by 7 PM "only"(How he dared to!)

2. Workers and Engineers are in dismal condition: Doctors stationed there had been told by higher authorities to tell lies about their medical reports. Eventually, the things blew up when one of them got his medical report from outside the hospital and his cadmium and lead level was 400% higher than what was shown there. Eventually, all got their medical report afterward in the original form and everyone had their lead and cadmium level up by 300-600% in ppm. Its not limited to one location or state, because in another state, the parent company was completely shut down after the local people interference(Sterlite in Tuticorin)

3. Metal industry death is highest in the state where the company is currently based and out of all deaths, they alone share 95% of it. I had lost one of my seniors who was a dear friend also, but his death was accounted as his fault.

4. CSR and DMF work is so bad there. They have built schools but with no teachers, students. When any prominent person or trainee/recruits have a visit, students are lured by giving 2-3 rs to come to the class for 1-2 hours. 2% CSR and PM-KKY yojana has been used in such a bad way there that no one can even imagine.

5. NAQI and their 8 gas parameter standard is a joke here. Ironically, we have been bagged the Sustainable company award at the India level. Everything is rigged, from SPCB to CPCB here and every data is forged that it's hard to not laugh at.

Just to give you the example, see the picture which was clicked by me. The chimney is there on the left side but emitting harmful gases from there would mean that the data captured will nullify any work on pollution. Solution? Just emit all the gas from the pellets, being put on the conveyor belt directly into the atmosphere during the early shift. That can be seen on the right side of the picture. Those gases have harmful SO2(reason of their yellowish colour), Pb, Cd, CO, Co2, PM 2.5.10 everything.
