Mine...😔😔
My optional paper 1 was like ....... Below expectations...
Paper 2 went well though...
GS left several questions...
Essay.. have written but no idea whether the evaluator will like it or not..
I think my upsc journey ends with this mains.. was third mains..
In 2020 scored 733.. missed interview call by 3 marks....
I too told my family not to have any expectations regarding my selection..
As Said earlier, this was my last attempt..
Preparing for UPPSC mains but not getting that energy to continue ahead.. but I will have to manage somehow
This is quoted from the book..
Someone please help me write this answer
@Declared_Dead which group?
Post mains group
when can a person expect interview call?
if across 4 gs papers marks are average and no question left. and essay is above average and 1 optional paper has become an issue due to time shortage. is there anyone who could get interview call when they least expected them to. what are the parameters to judge oneself regarding interview call.
The word average for gs papers is very subjective..
Due u regard 90 as an average score in gs.??
If so.. u would score around 360+130+250.. around 740.. a decent score in my opinion.. anyone getting around 720+ may hope for personality test call..

Mujhe toh 2019 nd 2021 ke gs papers similar pattern ke lage .
How much did you score in 2019 mains...?
@Declared_Dead i have given forumias mocks.in the papers from gs 1 to 3, score was 85-88 with i think leaving1 q 10 or 15 marker. gs 4 i was in top 20. marks were 98. so i have kept that as my base. i have given only 4 papers. rest i have given elsewhere. in final exam, no q was left. and i dont think ive particularly messed up ( i havent seen any solutions videos etc).by messed up i mean, demand fulfilled in all qs to best possible extent, vague questions also answered but not accurately, all questions in IBC format
Lets hope for the best..
I think you should make it to the list if optionals went decent enough...

Wrote last three mains and in my opinion-
GS-1= almost same level as 2019 but easier than 2020
GS-2= Easier than 2019 but tougher than 2020
GS-3= Easier than 2019 same as 2020
GS-4= Tougher than 2019 easier than 2020
I think cutoff should be little more than 2020 if marking pattern remained same.
Please also factor in essay paper..
Based on what I could understand from the tg group yesterday.. the insiders said that in essay many are getting marks in double digits.. number of such candidates is more this year...
Also gs3 marking is a bit strict..
These may be speculations but considering the authenticity of the info they gave in the past..it seems to be true..
I think cut off should hover around as last year.. slightly on the lower side though

I'm not expert but another helpless aspirant. I strongly feel the reduction in cutoff in 2020 was antithetical to level of difficulty w.r.t. 2019. In other words, 2019 papers were tougher in aggregate than 2020, but what would have made a difference is the marking related instructions to the evaluators.
My understanding of papers is
1. essay :- difficult than 2020 ( it's not just abstract, the quality of abstraction also increased unnaturally)
2.gs 1 easier than 2020
3. gs2 easier than 2020 if we look at quality of questions and depth of demand of questions of 2020, deeper than Mariana trench ( not even joking)
4. gs3 2020 was a child's play, elite school students of 9th class would get those questions as summer assignment. 2021 was hopelessly difficult. "exact who guidelines" in terms of hard statistics, blue led, gdp metrics, technical statistics of that air defence system, and specifics of "glasgow gamble" were "soul shattering". So no match (atleast from my perspective and from perspective of common sense)
5. gs 4 - pretty much same 13 questions were easy but that is balanced by unique demands in case studies, where course of action was usually not asked but mere analysis of options available in 5 pages posed some challenge.
6. language - language to sabka ho jata he
7. optional- apna apna dekh lo, mere psir ke to asaan aae the is baar
overall i hate to say this, but 2021 seemed to be easier as conpared to 2020, just like 2020 was easier as compared to 2019.
but we have seen from falling cutoff from 2019 to 2020 despite falling difficulty level , that aggregate complexity of papers is not the decider. the decider is the "instructions" given to evaluators regarding marking. that is the talisman. therefore it's not much use speculating cutoff since that talisman is beyond us all.
I believe that inflated marking in gs 4 in 2019 resulted in higher cut off...
Average score of recommended candidates was 135+.. in 2020 gs 4 average score around 100 .. so huge difference in a single paper..
Let's hope how it goes this year...

Speculating cut off of a subjective paper is meaningless, as you will have to speculate on the marking pattern as well, unlike an objective exam like prelims. So it becomes speculation on speculation😅
Bro.. the cut off prediction is done assuming marking will be done as last year...
If any paper is checked strictly or marked liberally.. then cut off may rise or fall in the same proportion.. as all aspirants almost gain/lose similar marks...
@masteroptimist no problem. can u or anyone render you thoughts on doubt? firstly how many days do we have between this year prelim and mains i.e 2022 cycle and two, is it wise to join mains test series at this moment itself vs going for value addition in optional, making GS mains notes ( ihave almost none, rely on 365etc) and stasrting prelim prep as well because prelim is a weak point for me and taking the mains mocks scene to post prelims stage.
A humble suggestion from my phone..
Follow daily editorial analysis of any good channel daily and make notes from that..
It is immensely helpful in gs 2 n 3
I followed analysis of 1 year... Will share the marks and u can then judge the benefits...

Since you are experienced, I'd like to ask something. If marking is done liberally like in ethics 2019, would attempting all questions not put the aspirant at greater advantage in such situations than attempting one or two less but rest ones with precision and depth.
Liberal marking helps those candidates who have better command on the subject...
Eg. 2019 ethics.. toppers scored 150-160
Those who went unprepared scored around 100-110
This creates huge difference..
If marking is tough...
Low score is around 70...
Good score around 100... So overall it matters which subject is inflated and how strong u r in the subject..
If your subject is weak and checking is strict then it favours u and vice versa...
@Declared_Dead right so, ill start any editorial analysis from today itself for mains 2022. should i also make notes out of it. btw i dont make newspaper notes. i just read it
Yes.. please make notes of it..
The data collected from the editorials is interesting..
I prepared notes of relevant points and revised them twice before mains..
Separate sheets for data and vital reports..
Try to incorporate them in the answers wherever possible..
I have used around 50+ statistics figures in all the answers combined..
Also keep your eyes open for whatever is important and can be used in the answers.. never believe that you can remember just in a single reading without making any notes...I made this mistake earlier.. write it down and keep revising.. I even typed in whatsapp message if I could not write at that particular moment..
Sometimes luck also helps.. like in the hindi/English compulsory paper there was a passage on food productivity decline due to land degradation..
And I used the statistics given there in my geography optional paper.. question was precisely same.. food productivity decline and food security issues due to land degradation
So don't think than only conventional books and magazines can lead us to success..
Daily editorial analysis is most helpful of all.. particularly for psir optional students.. about 25% editorials are related to foreign affairs issues..
@Declared_Dead which analysis will you suggest?
If you are English medium candidate then go through byjus daily the Hindu analysis...
It's remarkable..
I am not suggesting to join any byjus course.. daily editorial analysis and daily current affairs quiz is enough..
They are doing it since last 2-3 years.. I wish I had followed it earlier.. may be the score would have improved a lot.. but it is better late than never..
PS.. now they have started daily editorial analysis for hindi medium students as well ..
IN the GS 2 and GS 3papers, there are questions which have gone back to 5-6 years. now these questions are either conceptual or simply current affairs. My doubt is how do i go about changing studies and be able to handle these questions should a situation like this arise again. These were the questions that im talking about and they have a reasonable share of marks (if someone aims to do all 20 questions):
- GS3: GDP series , S400 , blue LED, Global AQGs
-GS2: 14th FC
now though i had fair knowledge of GDP series, i could not attempt it as well as i had expected for a simple reason, im aligned with magazines of past year only. same for s 400, i dont know why s400 suddenly became important. likewise for 14FC too.
Such questions are asked every year by upsc...
You cannot prepare fully for such questions..
So smart strategy will be to follow last one year current affairs thoroughly and not to worry about such questions .. u need to apply your common sense there to frame an average answer.. that would suffice I guess..
Same logic applies for pre.. if mitakshara type questions come.. all u can do is smart guess or skip.. but u can't and should not waste time trying to study the topics which are not covered by regular magazines/newspapers..
@Capedcrusader1 I want to ask guys here does everyone filled all pages in these questions too ?
Not everyone.. but I know few friends who have filled the pages.. not exactly relevant but average content.. somewhat related
@Declared_Dead another question broda, i wrote 15 markers first then 10 markers so obviously 10 marker answers were not so charming and attractive, do you think a thing like first impression exists in evaluation?
I too have written 15 markers first..
Infact I have written question no. 20 to 1...
I believe each question is evaluated on merit..so don't worry..
And I have interacted with many veterans.. majority of them attempt 15 markers first.. so don't u worry dear friend..
don't go with extreme statement pal. people have cleared this exam and scored first rank despite leaving few questions. people have failed to enter interview despite answering all. your extreme statement may misguide other fresh aspirants so be careful with choice of words. your last sentence is extreme.
I agree with you but there is a catch..
Attempting all questions is usually recommended.. because by writing around 100 words on a question u have vague idea is better than not writing it at all..
I won't recommend to fill whole 2/3 pages on such questions but something can certainly be written..
Let's take example of 14 th Finance commission question..
One can write what is finance commission.. art 280
Appointed by the President..
Tenure..2015-20
And regarding the core of the question..
Did it improve the finances of the state..
One can write generic points.. like..
Alloted more funds to the needy states..
Cross subsidization.. transfer of resources from richer to the poorer states .
As strong states make strong India so finance commission serves as balancing wheel of the fiscal federalism has played key role in that aspect..
Point I m making is... All these points are in lakshmikant which we revise upteen number of times..
Even such generic answer can fetch u 3-4 marks which is worth the effort..
Same number of additional words in other questions which you know better.. won't lead to rise in marks to the same extent..
May be 1-2 marks if same time is given to add additional points to other question..
So I feel answering all questions is always better than leaving it altogether
@Vishnugupta its not a sin. but if i ask someone that. given more time, would he have gone for those absolutely unknown questions, the answer would most probably be yes. people clearly had no idea of blue LED and most probably 14 FC, but would they leave it just on an ethical ground that "Oh, i dont want to be seen like im trying to fool the commission, or ill lose marks", well then ground itself is shaky. What if commision itself wants to check whether you can answer an unknown question with basic knowledge or not. these are all my views.you may differ but amongst the top most principles that i came across in mains was., "come what may, you do not leave any question".
I agree with your view completely dear friend..
I too believe thatcommission wants to check whether you can answer an unknown question with basic knowledge or not.
Deliberately such questions are given every year..
But there is a difference between prelims and mains..
In pre.. such unconventional questions have to be politely left unanswered while in the mains try to write points atleast related to the question asked.. but don't give more than 5 minutes to such questions in any case.. write whatever you know and move ahead..
In some questions I have not written conclusion, mostly 10 marker. Will that affect my marks?
Nothing to worry..
Time crunch is so much that we tend to forget key points sometimes leave alone the conclusion..
In the microfinance question.. I knew that malegam committee is related to it and I should mention it.. so I wrote in the question paper to write it in the body of the answer..
And guess what..
When I finished the paper and submitted it I saw the question paper again to realise that I missed writing it..
So what is done cannot be undone.. that's the beauty of the exam..
It's a race which u must enjoy and not feel pain due to minor shortcomings

Hearing of Malegam for the first time😏
You would have heard about it,had you followed the Hindu editorials...
Opposition was raising the matter of rising unemployment in the country but how can there be no employment generation when the size of the GDP, FDI, and number of unicorns have increased multiple times in the country.
Thoughts ?
A K shaped recovery would entail a recovery in capital and tech intensive industries at a faster rate which creates lesser jobs, and which drives FDI and Unicorns. So basically the pattern of growth could be highly skewed.
Plus, small business and labour intensive sectors like MSMEs were disproportionately affected by pandemic which worsened unemployment.
Also, we’ve never really focused on labour intensive industries to absorb the surplus labour from agriculture.
+1

Ok. didn't even touch the Hindu (or any newspaper in that regard).
I tried to make notes fron the hindu. Bt soon realized that i was giving lot of time to this exercise. I shifted back to coaching's CA. I just read news coming as notification in mobile app.
Same here. Understood it after my first prelims went kaput. Master your optional, develop your answer writing skills, prepare for prelims well; the lessons learnt so far. If you've covered prelims well, then that's enough content for mains as well.
This idea is flawed..
Mains requires rigorous preparation..
If you feel you have enough content without going through the editorials then it is highly likely that you will fall into the vicious cycle of appearing for pre and mains every year..
Opinions may vary.. I feel editorials add a lot to the quality of the answers..
And I had been in the phase where you are now.. feeling what I had done was enough.. but it wasn't..
Rest is your choice

Well, you have to understand and decide what works for you. My previous year GS marks were better than some of the toppers I knew that year (I'm in an accounts service). So, the idea isn't flawed, the execution can be flawed.
I agree that not everyone who gets selected goes through them.. but chances increase if one follows the editorials regularly..
Abstract essays make it difficult to predict our performance and marks.. u may be expecting 140 and may land up getting 80..and vice versa...we can't guess if the evaluator will like it or not..
The insiders of the group have said that marking has been lower in the essay as compared to the last year.. many are in double digits..
I think that is enough to lower the cut off by 10-15 marks..
Because majority of the students usually score decent in the essay.. going by last 2 years marks analysis
With due respect to so-called 'insiders', I think we should believe their words at our own risk. This just adds to speculation.
I can also make a prediction that since essays were tough, many people will be scoring low. While, one who have given 'original content' (dont know what is that) are getting rewarded with 140+ score.
I remember trusting their 'sources' at the time of prelims result. While the result came out that day itself, the date of the result was already provided by media 2~3 days back. While in the TG group, it was presented as if .....
They have no Idea.
In few days they will say results will be out around 12-15 or something like that ' deadline is 18 march'
and when the date is close they start looking for Friday and the game starts. After this every day is result day since morning to evening they keep you in horror by making it seem like result can be out at any moment now.
And result will come eventually because they already told you so but they do it every night before you go to sleep and listen to ' Yahi raat antim yahi raat bhari' and next day from morning to evening you will be feeling like going potty and waste entire day.
Be prepared for this :D
With due respect..
I have observed that they have credible info regarding results..
During 2019 mains result.. they said result will be out in 10 min and it was 12.30 in the night..and indeed it came in the night and they had precise information that the results were being uploaded..
I m not a blind follower but I also cannot ignore the reality...
@Declared_Dead Exactly, such precise infos show the credibility. 🤐 One such insider who is also admin in such groups and in past has given credible info told me about seeing his answer copies. 😌😌
I m unable to decipher whether it is statement in support of insiders or mockery of them...

Yes it's true. I know such person who personally saw his copies of CSM 16. This insider also told him the procedure how things work inside. Some interesting facts too :D
But I don't think things are still the same.
Would you like to share the interesting facts with us?
I believe it is easy to identify certain questions as tough.. like S400, GDP, WHO
But the other questions which we believe to have written well are not so simple and direct either..
It is the impression of familiarity with the questions which make us categorise the questions as tough or easy.. but marking pattern may be otherwise
In 2019, i was confident of gs 1, was hoping to get 95, instead got 65, gs 2 went pathetic was expecting 60-70 and got 65 here too. There is simply no way I still can't compare how both the papers got similar marks.
But i have learnt one thing, that it's useless to think about marks once it's over. Sometimes feeling of elation after attempting may also be false. Better to simply focus on the task ahead and work for that, ie pre and interview prep, but we all know it's easier said than done.
What factors made u believe that you will score well in gs 1 in 2019..
How were your papers in 2020 and 2021...
I also came across a post somewhere.. the candidate was expecting 100+ .. drew 3 world maps for better presentation.. ended up getting 57 in gs 1..

Do you mean to suggest that marking is done arbitrarily and not done on merit..
I think it is the self assessment part where we are mistaken.. maybe we tend to overestimate/ underestimate ourselves..
Pointing towards arbitrariness will make the whole mains preparation pointless
To all of you lovely people who wrote mains last month, how are you dividing time right now between
- Interview
- Mains content improvement
- Prelims
Trying hard to prepare for UPPSC mains..
But not getting the same motivation as earlier..
Anyone has any tips how to get back to usual preparation mode..
I have time and study material resources.. but the inertia is proving to be a bit too much..
I feel sorry about my state of affairs

@Declared_Dead my phone has fortunately died due to battery failure. its in a situation where i charge it for a whole day and it loses charge in like 2 minutes or so. i am actually enjoying the turmoil going on inside me right now. not going to have it sorted now.I'd suggest you to give your phone to parents and ask them to enforce your accountability or just turn it off and keep it away. you will see the difference. you will have no choice but to sit back down and study, with or without focus, you will eventually study.motivation will thus follow from being practicalofcourse all this is wrt distraction from phone. something i wasted time on for way beyond the limits in this prep. And, dont rely on motivation. friendly advice.
If mobile dies.. don't you open your laptop..

Bro, marking is objective and not arbitrary. Exceptions may exist but that is rare and not a regular affair. (I can tell this with my own experience)
Many a times students dont write the actual demand of the question. They think that they have attempted well bt end up getting poor marks. Also students haphzardly attempt last 5-6 questions n claim full attempt. In such scenarios they get disappointed with their marks.
Agreed with your points boss...
Particularly that demand of the question is not always addressed but points written is considered by the candidates to gauge quality of answers..
Also time issues at the end is equally responsible for low marks..
I constantly get dreams of the mains exam. In my dreams, the exam is yet to happen and I have not yet revised my optional paper...saari neend kharab ho jati hai🤭😀Ye toh fir bhi acha h.. main toh sapna dekhta hoon ki main sota reh gya aur paper choot gya
Itne overlapping sapne...
Maine v kuchh aisa hi dekha..
Moreover, I could not complete the Hindi compulsory paper.. could barely write few sentences..
@Declared_Dead from which source you are preparing for UP specific questions?
Watching YouTube videos and trying to get into rhythm.. not following any specific book.. I don't think devoting time for up specific questions is needed.. as only 1-2 up specific questions are asked..
I respect the views of all aspirants..
But I would like to add my 2 cents to the discussion on the essay..
The core demand of the essay should always be addressed... Dimensions should revolve around the core theme..
If the topic is on motherhood..then that forms the crux of the essay.. various dimensions about motherhood adds value and not anything under the sun..
PS.. I have not written this topic n I don't claim myself to be a good essay writer.. but what I said above is my understanding..
@Sahilkumar I feel you have written one of a good essay that can fetch you very good marks provided...1. Coherence of thoughts2. You explained your premise clearly after the introduction3. Shown optimism and sprinkled good examples.Because, this is not a topic as straight as Good parenting makes good world. So, there is lot of scope of creativity and upsc wants that originality. If we think the topic means motherhood, we feel we are deviated. But there is no such thing called it means motherhood only, except in English litterature and that too in the annotation of that particular poem. So, chill. It's symbolism of unity in diversity shown by UPSC.
You are right bro..
Next time question comes on border management then we should write about nuclear deterrence to expand the scope of creativity.. because both are related to security aspects.. we can highlight about NPT, CTBT, Iran Nuclear deal ... Cyber attack by Israel on Iranian nuclear facility, killing of Iranian nuclear scientists.. so on and so forth..
You see, one essay topic can open up multiple dimensions..They just need to be explored and presented beautifully..
Topics are given so that you can write first few paras about that.. rest you can write anything what creativity permits..
In my essay I clubbed content from all 8 essay topics to make it more appealing and look more creative.. it added to more dimensions that one can imagine..
Creativity is the key to get higher marks...
Overall, while coming out of the examination hall if you are satisfied with the answers you have written then feel confident about yourself and do not worry about the review of essay given here..
I have seen as low as 10 marks in essay..and as high as 175..
so keep fingers crossed and hope for the best
@Declared_Dead who got 10 mark
Room partner of Rachit Raj AIR 3 CSE 2013..
He told this while sharing his strategy during an interactive session..
@Philip_Marlowe yes they have mentioned that coherence is important. the moment i put subheadings in there, this coherence is lost
Subheadings add value to the essay..
They give a good idea of what is to follow in the para..
Many toppers wrote subheadings n scored 150+..
I see nothing wrong with subheadings..
is it possible to clear mains without writing a single test?
Possible..
Around 80% candidates join test series..
But do all of them get selected..no..
The aim is answer writing practice and to improve upon your weaknesses..
If you can do that without test series.. it's ok.. many clear without test series
@Declared_Dead value toh nai add karta hai. content achha likha hoga. baki coherence kaise banega pata nai muje. waise maine kisi topper ko suna nai ye bolte ki subheading daalna hai. mocks me air 1 ka koi subheading nai mila muje. zaada copies nai dekha but jitne bhi toppers ka dekha h kisime bhi subheading nai hai.
Bhai..
Maine to jitne v toppers k videos dekhe hain.. most of them recommended subheadings..
I scored 131 n 135 in 19 n 20 mains..
My content was not great..in 2020 mains essay paper..I went to exam hall after barely sleeping for 3 hours.. during second essay I struggled to concentrate due to sleepiness..
I don't say that it was only due to subheadings.. but I only mean to say that subheadings don't break coherence..
I m getting a lot of negative feelings these days that I might have underperformed in the mains exam..
Whenever I read any topic now I am instantly reminded that I could have used these points in so and so answer..
I m getting more and more underconfident with each passing day...
Does anyone else also face such issues..
Or do they increasingly become more confident with the day of result getting closer..
I don't know. Frankly speaking after looking at my score I started having doubts on the wisdom of what toppers say. I didn't write point wise, relied completely on paragraph format because this is what happens when you don't know how to answer a question accurately. In most of the answers, rather than giving 5-6 points I wrote 2-3 and elaborated upon that to fill space. I didn't underline any keywords in the answer sheet. After walking out it felt like a terrible mess. Still I got 92. This is a mystery that has baffled me for the last 5 months.@AureliusM Thats a great score in GS 3 given low scores in 2020 too and that too after leaving 25 marks. May be all other questions were well handled. 👍
Nothing like mystry in this..
May be the examiner checked your papers after a series of even lower quality papers..so yours looked little better..
One time exception should not be taken up as norm.. competition is heavy..
People practicing variety of diagrams, case studies, statistics.. do you mean to say that it doesn't matter.. it actually does..
It is combination of of all these factors which translates into marks.. so please don't be under the impression that you will write anything and will again get in 90s.. you won't.. such response confuses new aspirants..
They may get the impression that mains marking is very arbitrary which is not the case..
@zombieland this time gs 1 was easier or tougher as per u?
Paper GS1 appears to be easy..
But it is actually slightly on the tougher side..
I have geography optional but I really struggled to write the difference between impact of melting of arctic ice and Antarctic glaciers..
Measures by society to conserve values..
There were many such questions..
Opinions may vary..
ya'all getting paid to discuss?
Is this really a valid query.....
I wonder how can people post here whatever they feel like.
Atleast think a bit before your fingers start typing

I will be honest here, but I really didn’t recall having seen this question until I saw the paper again.
I hope as u say gs 1&4 is marked liberally
By now our writing skills would have been quantified in terms of scores/marks for majority of the papers..
So wait for few more days to know whether it was enough to land us in services..
easy in the sense that
- one could write a structured answer
-understanding demand of questions wasnt tough
-society questions have no data , commitee etc. so its generally easy to write some points provided you had time
for all i know, GS2 was toughest, GS3 also tough. Gs4 one cant guage essay tough
For me gs3 was toughest. GS4 much lengthy. For the first time I took more than 90 minutes to complete case studies section.
Essay was tougher. It took around 30 minutes to brainstorm in first essay. ( never took so much time in earlier attempts.
GS1 and Gs2 were okay. I will not rate them as tough.
Anthro optional paper1 was eaiser as compared to last year. Paper 2 was tricky. Writing ten markers like anthro answer and not gs type was tricky. Although paper2 was doable but i believe getting good marks will b difficult.
U mean u completed case studies in shorter time earlier??
How short??
What were your scores in gs 4 earlier if you don't mind
Some of the questions from GS 1 which were difficult to answer:
Mention the global occurrence of volcanic eruptions in 2021 and their impact on regional environment.
Examine the uniqueness of tribal knowledge system when compared with mainstream knowledge and cultural systems.
How do the melting of the Arctic ice and glaciers of the Antarctic differently affect the weather patterns and human activities on the Earth? Explain.
How does Indian society maintain continuity in traditional social values? Enumerate the changes taking place in it.
Although it may be subjective opinion....
@D503 Covid ka impact kuch ayega ya nhi cutoff me? sb to bimar pde the
nope....
all candidates looked fit n fine to me at the bangalore centre...
I was the only guy coughing sometimes in my classroom.. and was afraid that i might be kicked out on the ground that i might be one of the covid spreader at the center...
I too fell sick though.. 2 days fever.. fortunately between gs and optional papers...
Earlier in 90 minutes (1.30hr) This year 105 minutes(1.45hr). Last year score was 98
Thats cool.. u managed the time well i would say...
I messed up big time by doing 1 case study and 2 part A answers..in that sequence.. Could not gauge the time properly...
Ended up writing last case study and few part A answers in haste..... i would feel glad if i get in 80s ...
How many of you honestly feel that filling up pages has positive impact on the marks
I don't mean writing just anything.. but points atleast remotely related to the topic...
I believe it is this thought process which forces us to fill almost every page of every answer...
PS.. I remember watching Ira Singhal video..where she was strongly against such attitude..
But other toppers recommend it though..
@Declared_Dead I don't believe in filling up pages just for the sake of it. There are many questions where you have so many points, but not enough time. So, better spend your time there, instead of filling up empty spaces, hoping to get an extra 0.5 marks.
the desire for those 0.5 marks make us keep filling pages.... like moths flying after sources of light......
N end up losing marks elsewhere
Those claiming usa has done a lot to eliminate isis..
1 isis was born due to usa invasion of Iraq
2 during early days of isis mobilization usa wasted crucial time to ensure removal of Iraqs shia pm before they could act..
3 this resulted in death of millions, women and young girls were sold as slaves and raped innumerable times.. all this.. thanks to USA..
4 USA put the same condition on Syria.. Assad must abdicate before usa can fight isis.. Russia came to rescue of Assad and taught the Islamist salafists a bitter lesson..who were claiming to be freedom fighters.. only the yazidis are fighting for freedom and autonomy..
5. Regarding Iran.. USA resorted to every means to ensure that Iran gets weakened economically and militarily.. they are preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons when they themselves have one of the largest nuclear stockpile..
USA has also secretly helped ISRAEL develop nuclear weapons.. Iran too has security threats and has every right to acquire the same grade of weapons possessed by its adversaries..
So.. Middle east is a mess created essentially by USA
@zombieland imho this time exam was slightly easier than last time. Wht do u think .
No, i dont think paper was easier than last year. Essay was much tougher. GS1 + GS3 similar to 2020. GS4 lengthier than last year.
Difficulty level of optional may vary. For anthro optional, paper was easier but last year marking pattern was liberal. So it cannot be said that since paper was easy then people will get higher marks compared to 2020.
Essay was indeed difficult..
I found GS 1 also a bit difficult..
Optional was almost same as last year...
First mains ,gave just iasbaba free mock a week before mains and few pyq on my ownIn the few mocks I wrote ,I was struggling to complete 17 questions (marks were around 80) due to time constraintsBut on the day of exam, I started attempting from 15 m and then 10m in GS ,in essay I just alloted 5 min for structure formationSurprisingly I completed all questions on time and had 9-10 minutes remaining during which I added any missing terms ,underlining double underlining heading and terms like it's done in schoolI'm sure that neither quality of answers nor handwriting was relevant and legible enoughThe person sitting next to me gave a weird look like how the heck you got time to underline stuff even in Ethics😬I know the marks cannot be predicted but I'm really afraid on finishing fast my papers although the average content and legible handwriting was there ,did anyone else experience similar surprising powers in exam hall ?
This is great..
You are the first candidate I m coming across who claimed to have completed the papers 10 minutes before the scheduled time..
You can teach us on time management..
@Declared_Dead somewhat same condition with me too 😑
I tried to beautify my answers in the beginning..
Started with question number 20 and backwards..
Had entered exam hall will great plans..
Will sort easy questions first..
Will write key points first..
Proper introduction and conclusion
Write with subheadings
Underlining key words
..
But alas.. all plans fell flat...
Took 12 minutes for first answer..
15 for the second..
N then felt I have lost the race and the anxiety took over.. couldn't recall even obvious points.. like great depression.. treaty of Versailles for world history question..
Don't know how I will score
@Akkku human rights commissions mein Khali NHRC likhna tha kya? It was a plural 's' so jabarjasti women's commission,. NCSC, NCST bhi meant to protect HR likh diya.
Human rights commissions means..
State n NHRC.. I think
one doubt wrt ethics case studies:
i have not used the concepts of part A in case studies by specifically mentioning (ex: i have not written "as per utilitarian perpective iwill do this... or , by going for rights apporach to solve ethical dilemma)
reason for not doing so is that i feel that theory is tested i part A. they need solutions now and analysis.
also, i have scored fine (as per me) in case studies of mocks without writing the abovementioned
is it an issue?
I have one doubt..
Regarding question 1a and 1 b in ethics section A
(a) Identify five ethical traits on which one can plot the performance of a civil servant. Justify their inclusion in the matrix.
(b) Identify ten essential values that are needed to be
an effective public servant. Describe the /ways and
means to prevent non-ethical behaviour in the pubic servants.
The values asked in both questions were overlapping..
Is it okay to repeat the same.. because how can the desired values change in 2 different answers..
Should we deliberately try to write different values for uniqueness or focus more on consistently of thoughts..
@zombieland exactly . even now if i look at the question and see this model answer or whatever mindmap this is, i cant replicate this much info in exam. not in 11 mins.
All points cannot be written..
It's how you prioritise the points that matters..
@zombieland problem of prioritising points is first world problem for me .Yaha to point hi nhi milte likhne ko priority se kya kre. 😑
Agreed bro... Not easy to organize points considering the time crunch we face..
i have heard from some people that result could be due this week. Is it true? any one has any updates, i have exited all the telegram groups so im woefully unaware.
Copy pasted from one of the TG groups.. not sure to what extent it is true..
Is bar result itna fast unexpectedly aaega koi kuch nahi kar paaega
Sheer suddeness.!
Suddenness of the move, unexpected nature of the move, the unpredictability of the move, the fact that there will be no warning.!
😎😎
P.S. I am on trip toh mujhse insider info expect mat karna is baar
I sincerely request you all to support the cause of the aspirants who couldn't attend mains due to covid..
Please support and if possible donate for the court case generously..
It will open gates for extra attempts
Please don't do cyber begging here..
Extra attempt is excuse of failures..
Hard work means to persist inspite of all odds..
I m expecting good score in mains. I have practiced a lot of answer before the mains exam... I am strictly against any such delay tactics..
I think your choice of words could have been better... cyber begging is not appropriate word..
By the way how was your mains... There are very few who are so optimistic about their performance....
@Declared_Dead devanagiri script mai. My god. Waise nobody can say but most probably, 5 marks deduction karde. Didn't you see common mistakes pdf. 🥺
Where to get the common mistakes pdf.. I haven't seen that until now.. could you please dm me that..if you could..
If I used hindi/sanskrit quotes in devnagari script in the essay, while the medium opted was English..
Will it backfire??
Only 2 such quotes used.. regretted later
you are very lucky that I came across your post. i used one quote (shloka) in intro in 2020 essay, scored above average,so it won't backfire rest assured
Thanks a lot..
Feeling a bit relieved...
@HankShrader Atb. Hardly matters what others think/say. You are right when you say if somebody say they performed well, everyone becomes insecure and start labelling. And, we get awake when result shows a diff picture of people performing well.
I think you have a valid point..
However..I found the papers to be difficult to score so high... Maybe 100+ in any one paper by god's grace.. but expecting around 100 in all is beyond my comprehension..
I assume @hank studied about blue led, s400 technical details and who guidelines before entering the exam hall... only then can one expect to cross 100..
@Declared_Dead Bhai I knew about Blue led (exactly why it is famous bcoz there were articles on it ) and remembered most of technical details of S400 but 85 se above aa jaaye bahut baadi baat hogiLast year bhi one of my friend got 90 despite leaving 60 marks literally, it all boils down to how you write what you know@HankShrader bhai must have written what he knows bahut achhe se
May be u r right..
Honestly speaking.. Hanks claims may look exaggerated.. but it is doable..I think even of he scores 750+.. he will make it to the list..
Socho itne saalo se dkt naam Ko gaali bana rakha hai, kal Ko pata chalta hai he actually entered in service and simply didn't come back here to brag coz he had no fucks to give.
Retain, even in opposition, your capacity for astonishment 😋
DKT in service....
Agar aisa hua to DKT critiques would spend few sleepless nights for sure 😃
People talking in tg group that results are expected this weekend..
Feeling anxious now
bhai kaun se group me? link plz
Bhai.. I m not member of the group..
Post mains 2021 it is named..
But my friends keep informing that result ka mahaul ban raha hai in the group..
So just wanted to confirm here if it is true..
My personal opinion.. around 15th looks probable date..
Someone please help me with this..
I wrote in a statistics in the answer.. 6 BILLION USD instead of 6 Trillion USD losses due to cyber crime globally..
Noticed the mistake now while listening to the current affairs analysis today..
Went through the notes to verify the difference n found out it was my mistake while making the notes itself..
Feeling very let down.. I m so dumb..
Used statistics, that too wrong.. billion instead of trillion..
I m nowhere in the race anymore..
I hope evaluator may assume it to be human error...
@krishna96 expecting 145 in essay, 110 in GS1, 100 in GS2, 90 in GS3, 115 in GS4 and 280 in optional😁😎
These marks will land you safely within top 100 with decent personality test performance...
I went through the gs 3 question paper again today and found that it was indeed difficult.. each question had multiple dimensions.. I now feel I could have added many additional points which is necessary for decent marking..
Scoring 100 in GS 3 won't be easy.. rest let the results come to see to what extent our predictions are correct..
I am new to Forum threads. I have a question regarding personality tests. Are questions asked from entire DAF or only from the summary sheet? I wonder if the entire DAF is visible to the board members at all? The DAF contains information regarding caste and categories and I read somewhere that the board is not aware about the reservation of the candidate. If this is the case, then the board must be having limited access to the DAF.
Someone please shed some light on how the process works. The youtube topper mocks have confused me; there the panel has access to the DAF in its entirety.
Are you afraid that your category may affect your marks??
