[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

"As and when dates are decided, a notice of 30 days will be given". What does this mean?

(a). Beforenotifyingnew dates, 30 days notice will be given.

OR

(b) 30 days will be given before exam ???

can anyone please advice how to plan optional/mains and pre out now ? I have maths as optional so this creates a lot of confusion , it makes sense to study maths in full fledged manner only if dates are advanced beyond July 15 or so :(

UPSC clearly understand the situation of the students.they knew that we want to know the exact date so that we can plan our studies accordingly.

but they have their reasons(responsibility).

member 1: let postpone the date to aug 30

member2: but what if cases rose again in july and lock-down announced .

member 3: right!!

mem 1 2 3 : so for now just defer it and lets us observe situation meantime.

member 0: hahah! we are UPSC ,we are smart :-)

At the current current state(it might become worse too) of covid it is not wise to conduct pre in june or july for that matter.

because

1. Obviously huge interstate/intrastate travel and gathering.

2. The exam of this scale requires huge amount of workforce from all local administration to state administration to provide venue , manpower , security...etc . this is not affordable in this crisis as vital resources are required to fight covid.

3. the exam cannot be conducted in normal fashion as social distancing should be followed , ventilation in room , and even omr attendance should be ammendment as the sheet travels though the whole class room ...etc

4. Upsc exam is important to us but not to the nation/government at the current context .

...etc

therefore logically exams cannot be held  atleast till August at the current scenario ... since a lot of people were concerned about the dates should go ahead and prepare optionals for the time being if you choose to..... peace folks ✌️😎

upsc press release

From this, I can infer that UPSC prelims exam must be held after 20th June😊

UPSC is such a bad boy organisation. Just so that students cannot make any prediction, they made the date of announcement as 20th may and said min 1-month advance notice will be given. What is the 1st Sunday after 20th June? Yes, you guessed it- 21st June.  So technically, they can conduct exams on 21st June too. :joy:

Upsc Vs Corona

~LiquorShopsOpenNow

Not just liquor shops but practically everything is open now, except malls, cinema and restaurants. and people have gone crazy, most of the DMs have ordered the rollback esp in UP

Was reading the news and apparently some in those lines to buy liquor were the ones who didn't even have money to buy ration till yesterday and were dependent on the govt.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I guess this whole easing of restrictions is probably govt's way of telling people how serious things can get...maybe they will start to roll back these concessions by the end of this week.

But I  personally feel that this Delhi govt move of imposing 70% tax on MRP is a good step, as long as other states follow suit or else it will just lead to an excess of black marketing.

@AspirantAnonymous sorry bro, but people who were dependent on govt for food were not in queue. At least give them that much, in times when they are fighting for everything.
(I seem to have gone off track the thread, so I will just push off myself)

The Hindu-Niti Aayog member Mr Paul showed media some analysis estimating that corona cases will end by May 16.

Maybe inspired by this analysis, UPSC will decide on May 20.

Govt and UPSC are optimistic on a whole new level.

@logan Meanwhile reports from USA are suggesting more bad news till the whole of June. Daily deaths to be up to around 3000.
No way with the relaxation of lockdown can the cases be controlled by mid-May. India is not special. Government was optimistic during lockdown 1.0 too when it was saying it has no plans to extend the lockdown. Rest is history.

Even if we are able to keep it under control, I don't think any state will be willing to allow interstate travel fearing a resurgence due to outsiders.all states are on a unique trajectory and will peak accordungly,so even if their optimism holds true, we'll have to wait for some time before normalcy is restored

Brothers and Sisters, do understand one thing :

  • It is a Pandemic and the world government's are foolig people by their inaccurate metrics. There is no vaccine and any stable metric
  • @logan Bhaisahab has said about Niti aayog. I want to add that Niti aayog people sit in AC rooms which are perfectly quarantined. They take data from yes-men. Think about Social distancing in श्रमिक trains being run by the government.

Some NIti guy said that on 16 may cases will "magically" come down. He is whitley wrong . He is surely a fan of Nostradamus and Donald Trump.Link here.

Yesterday
🍺 beer party was held on roads. 100 crore revenue was generated. But norms of lockdown were broken.

  • To think that dates of Pre will be announced by 20 May is a dream. The cases will rise due to these relaxations.Link
  • Cases have risen by increment of 5000 in the past 2 days. Now there are relaxations, think of the next 5 days. It can be 5000+ every day.
  • CBSE had planned to announce 12 th exam dates but they arebacking off. Link given.
  • To think that dates of Pre will be announced by 20 May is a dream. The cases will rise due to these relaxations.Link
  • Maharashtra state along with Gujarat and Delhi are badly hit. A single source and +++ cases.
