[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

End of July and beginning of August seems the most probable as of now. Although depending on decision regarding interviews and Covid-19 situation.

UPSC was increasingly asking C.A of 15-20months in prelims. The extension of prelims will benefit you as you would have already covered majority months of C.A thoroughly (no extra effort on going back and doing C.A). This benefit is more prominent for freshers

Brothers and Sisters, do understand one thing :

  • It is a Pandemic and the world government's are foolig people by their inaccurate metrics. There is no vaccine and any stable metric
  • @logan Bhaisahab has said about Niti aayog. I want to add that Niti aayog people sit in AC rooms which are perfectly quarantined. They take data from yes-men. Think about Social distancing in श्रमिक trains being run by the government.

Some NIti guy said that on 16 may cases will "magically" come down. He is whitley wrong . He is surely a fan of Nostradamus and Donald Trump.Link here.

Yesterday
🍺 beer party was held on roads. 100 crore revenue was generated. But norms of lockdown were broken.

  • To think that dates of Pre will be announced by 20 May is a dream. The cases will rise due to these relaxations.Link
  • Cases have risen by increment of 5000 in the past 2 days. Now there are relaxations, think of the next 5 days. It can be 5000+ every day.
  • CBSE had planned to announce 12 th exam dates but they arebacking off. Link given.
  • To think that dates of Pre will be announced by 20 May is a dream. The cases will rise due to these relaxations.Link
  • Maharashtra state along with Gujarat and Delhi are badly hit. A single source and +++ cases.

Well researched submission. Nice job bro. 😁👍👍

It's perhaps early for us to pin point any date. The Covid situation and government's response  about lockdown(eg opening of trains) after 17th May will guide UPSC decision.

About Covid, things r relatively clear. With 3900 cases yesterday, situation is not very rosy in days to come. But it's not sure what will be the government's response.A lockdown 4.0 will probably make things clear for UPSC and it might shift the dates to July end or mid-August.

In case there r too much relaxations(lesser possibility),UPSC might consider that exam be taken in between July 5-19.

But what will be challenging for both UPSC and IITs is how  will they conduct exams in hotspots such as Mumbai Ahmedabad Chennai Pune etc where situation unfortunately is looking out of hand and might get severe in June-July .BMC is prepared for 75000 cases by end of Mumbai.Even if most of the areas opens up,the hotspots might get out of hand.

Amidst the present scenario, UPSC will have to look into these considerations whose future no one knows as of now.It might actually conduct smaller scale examinations such as Engineering Services(28th June) before conducting a large scale exam like civil services. So probably one thing is relatively clear that there r negligible chances for prelims to be conducted in June.

Regarding whether interview will be scheduled first or prelims, there r different viewpoints. In terms of optimised scheduling for better efficiency,UPSC can conduct prelims before so that prelims results and checking takes place simultaneously with Interviews so as to save time. However, some r citing that  IAS IFS can't appear again(which might be sidelined owing to unprecedented situation). However, in that scenario,it will be unfair for those who will be preparing for interview as they will get lesser time for mains.

Well let's hope for the best.Till then let's maintain social and mental distancing from non critical things, sanitise and kill our laziness and prepare best.

@WillbeIAS  हाँ जी आपने सही कहा, कुछ अन्य बिंदु भी हैं इस बात में :
  • All exams are important. It's not that only we are giving Upsc. Iit aspirants think Iitjee is important, cgl students give their exams priority.
  • Let's suppose they put centres in green zone areas. Students coming out of Red zones to green ones, can't be tested withing exam hours . They can be only screened but screening is not foolproof. Asymptomatic cases will/can be there.
  • Upsc doesn't know when will it end. EvenSupremeleader of North Korea Shri. Kim Jong Un doesn't know.
  • 30th June is the cutoff date in UP. No programmes there before it.
  • 2nd wave of corona can come. It happened in Spanish Flu(3 waves) and Plague ( 5 waves).
  • DMs and SDMs are engaged in handling of upsc exams. They are now busy and will remain busy in their Corona Duties.

@TheOptimist Probably but mostly newspapers these days are filled with only COVID related news, so I'd say the CA will be less. And that has been happening since April.

Until Unless Public Transport is fully back....UPSC won't have any chance to conduct Prelims because any body can go to court citing this reason and govts are too burdened to divert their resources for just one national exam....

A very weird thought came across my mind.

If somebody came in contact with someone infected later and is advised 14 days of quarantine. But that quarantine period overlaps with prelims exam. Would that candidate be barred from writing the exam on basis that there is a possibility that the candidate might have contracted the disease?

The whole attempt of the candidate might be spoilt due to the virus suspicion.

This seems to be too scary and giving me goosebumps since last night.

PS: I know I am thinking too much but the anxiety just finds its way through these weird absurd thoughts. :(

@AlexanderSupertramp It is probably because of these very possibilities, that the exam will be "sufficiently" postponed. After all, this is not an isolated thought (or incident). It concerns many.

upsc toh admit card mein asterisk lagake terms and conditions daal degi-

*admission in exam hall subject to thermal screening

quarantine ke liye baaki haath pe stamp bhi lag jaayega.

Attempt to apna jaayega na .

I know zyada ho gaya, lekin aaj se resolution liya ki padhai ke alawa kuch faaltu nahi sochna. Lekin ye anxiety hai ki maanti nahi,
