[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

There are only 2 ways in which Oct 4 exam would get cancelled/postponed:

1) Some State Govts categorically oppose. For Ex: MH has opposed University Exams in HC.

2) SC in UGC Notification matter to be heard on aug-10th comes out with guidelines which will make conducting a simultaneous offline exam all over India impossible.

In all other circumstances - it looks like UPSC will go ahead and conduct the exam. It will be a HUGE risk for students appearing. Many will get infected. They will pass onto their parents etc. And we have to live with this fact.

Its not just the examination center where you can get infected. A very large number of people actually travel from towns to the nearby cities a few days before the exam, stay in hotels and give the exam. The whole thing will be super risky - and imagine the mental state of a candidate appearing in this fashion.

@Tyler Durden with benefit of hindsight we can say that it could have been conducted on 31st may

its highly improbable for them to merge 2020 and 2021 examinations...also putting students life at jeopardy for a mere examination would not be wise..i know its a huge deal for us all who have invested so much time and energy for this paper..par doston jaan hai toh jahan hai... i have seen it in close quarters how it impacts people, my cousin contracted it(he has hypertension and diabetes) ..his got fatal, ram bharose thik ho gaye..par abhi bhi pain rehta hai unhe..toh we cant take it lightly.
upsc has always acted responsibly, lets have faith in the institution .
aage sab rab raakha.

Dr.Anthony Fauci says there will be millions of doses of covid vaccines available at the start of 2021. So, normality will return atleast for those preparing for exams ending this period of uncertainty.

An important thing to note here is that neet doubled it's number or exam centres , while for upsc the number remains the same and both exams given by lakhs of candidates.

Nope. even if they conduct the exam next year, they will fill for two separate years via one exam only. there would be two lists one of 2020 and one of 2021. UPSC cadre allocation is a much more complicated process, but UPSC does  that each year. This is way more simpler. One exam for simultaneously filling two batches. Let us not forget that these are unprecedented times, once in 100 years event.

This is how Delhi flattened the curve. RT PCR tests were reduced from 8000 per day to 5000, while antigen tests were scaled upto almost 14000 per day. The positivity rate of RT PCR tests(golden standard) is 24% and of antigen tests is 7%. Moreover patients with sari or ILI(high probability cases) were mandatorily asked to get tested via antigen test.
Delhi flattened the wrong curve

My Centre is 180Km away. I usually go and stay at a Hotel a day or two before.

Now I'm little afraid to book a Hotel.

I will leave very early in the morning and reach my Centre. Let's hope everything will be alright and goes according to schedule.

Just went to the old "discuss forum".

I was back to studying for prelims again, went to look for my revision threads for static and wpa scheduled animals. It says not accessible. I just wish i had backed up that data.

Not just that, there was so much of information, from crazyphoton's (gaurav agrawal) comments to yo yo choti singh's ethics thread. The amount of information contributed by everyone was what brought back people to that platform again and again.

Anyway, who am I to ask any of that, it belonged to forum.

With that old forum thrown into the dustbin, I feel like i've no more connection left with Forumias. Everything is gone. I'm just a newbie to this platform just like anyone else and I would rather be at a place where whatever I type/share is not deleted in the future.

I understand that you must have had genuine reasons to delete the old forum but i'm just expressing my thoughts.

@root Although i had not asked for the blue tick, I am very grateful that you guys provided it. It felt like that blue tick connected me with the old forum. Now that it's gone, I humbly request you to take away the blue tick and also delete my profile. Thank you, I shall humbly vacate this place. 🙏
