[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@MatildasMissHoney  article 370 allows president to apply the provisions of indian constitution with such modifications as he deems fit. So using those powers, president modified the interpretation of "state legislature" and "state government" and transferred their powers to governor of j&k. Again this is an exceptional use of powers under article 370 and is yet to be examined by Supreme court

Has someone ordered prelims test series online?

@Chanakya Why won't the same will work in case of other states like Maharashtra if it will be under president's rule (356), as the article mentions that parliament assumes the power of state legislature?
Though abolishing a SLC is not a pressing matter to get on the agenda of the parliament in state emergency, but the constitution is silent on these kinds of exceptions, and hence, there is a strong possibility, at least in theory (or in practice in case of J&K).

Also, there could be a constitutional amendment in future abolishing all the SLCs altogether by parliament. if SLCs form a part of basic structure or not is also not clear, but as it is related to federal structure, it might need ratification by half the states, but only 7-8 states have SLCs, so the ratification won't be difficult.

@dwightschrute its gud if u are a newbie as it gives u a strict time table. But if u are already done with ur syllabus once ,uwill just end up wasting tym.The main issue is that they will drag polity and modern history for a long tym but imp areas such as environment, snt, economics are not covered properly. So if u think that u are disciplined enough then its better to set ur own time table an d follow it , identifying ur own strengths and weaknesses rather than following a ' one size fits all' time table.

Are Shubhra Ranjan videos available on telegram (may be 2017 or 18) good enough for polity and governance?

One question, does upsc check the private work experience certificate in interview if you mentioned the same in DAF?

@PowerPuffMojo I think the videos available in telegram are for optional. She was teaching some technical terms in first few videos

As opposed to or compared to? If you plan on doing nothing vs something, its always a good start, no matter what class it is. Always remember that no matter what people tell you, Delhi classes will be a lot notch better then elsewhere in the country simply because the kind of students and the density of good candidates in the crowd. By good candidates in the crowd, I mean a fair number of people, who have "left" something to prepare for Civils, unlike the crowd in other cities where preparation could be a weekend hobby ( not counting ALL working people , given that many working people put extraordinary efforts in prep ).

The internet is a good place to discuss to debate, but not the best place to take advice from. And the best way to find out is by doing it.

I will pass on the feedback to the Team.

Having said that - you have mentioned "So if u think that u are disciplined enough then its better to set ur own time table an d follow it ".

The key here is "If"

If the asked of this question is already disciplined, he should anyway be scoring at least 110 type scores in mocks.  The SFG is supposed to give you a daily time table, a discipline, a competitive group. Thats all.

I am not sure exactly "what part of SFG" does one waste time. You write tests, you solve papers. You may or may not attend / be a part of discussions. You travel everyday to the Center to write it.

You should anyway be doing the first 3 things. Travelling to the Center is indeed a waste of time for people who have that kind of discipline.

But then the people who have that kind of discipline, are already ahead of the curve. Many people have ruined years trying to develop the discipline "on their own".

Have a deadline. If you cant develop it over a few weeks since lockdown - of for past 2 -3 years, chances are you wont develop it now. Take help. It has worked for many people, and it may or may not work for you. The thing is - you may have to make it work for you.

Also,@esha2794825  Not reprimanding you, and please take it in the right spirit, why do you think Forum guys give more time to polity and history and lesser time to eco and environment?

I participate here in my individual capacity, and at best as a moderator, and not a forum representative. So take this conversation as informal.

You made my day. This is wonderful! Great effort.

Here is a tip.

Evernote is a great note taking tool, not a great note revising tool. So if at all you need to revise, you must not shy away from taking a print out and reading and underlining and revising it. A lot of EN guys who have great notes, the great content doesn't reflect in the answer because they are not so good with revision.

If something is in your EN, at some some point, it has to be in your head too :)

One of my former students, who had great EN notes, and who introduced me to EN, ( we expected him to get a Rank 1, but he got a Rank 10 ), used to take print outs for the notes, and this helps. So if you ever feel that you have revision issues, do take print outs - no it wont defeat the purpose :)

See reg DIPIN sir , I can assure that the content , understanding and the answer writing you would be doing during the classes would be helpful. It depends upon individuals how u use them. Flow diagrams might be helpful. Rest one should choose what suits him rather than commenting or comparing.

PS : it's just my personal views !! Rest i guess the schedule of the classes (tentative 10th july ) seems to be a concern as hardly one would be attending them in Aug-Sep.

Happy Learning !!

Hello, There is a reason why we don't encourage coaching reviews on the website  :)

Most people would treat your review as promotional in nature and would further reduce trust of the users here.

Also, your or somebody's post on "Dipin Sir has left forum", led to a flurry of emails from students in the faculty's mailbox and ( mine too ). So you see despite your best intentions :) which I acknowledge, it doesn't really help anyone.

New people like@Akanksha_Jain develop suspicion towards the platform, and this drives good users away. You can see otherwise how brilliantly people have contributed onthis thread here.

Now the faculty gets disturbed because of all this, and as far as the Civils exam is concerned, a faculty must be a voracious reader - which needs a peaceful mind :) Just like you need a peaceful mind to study :)

The answer to "issues with Federalism in India" for CSM 2019 will be very different from a good answer for exactly same question in CSM 2020.

We are all learners here.

I hope you understand. Never underestimate the power of good intentions and bad ideas. :)

Avoid reviews. Helps no one. In the end there will be do much negativity, we'll end up with "skepticism", before collapsing into "nihilism".

Philosophy students will know.
