Which is the best pen for UPSC Mains?

In terms of comfort while writing for long periods, a non-interrupting ink, glide over the paper, water resistance etc.

Lefty and a V5 user. Has anyone tried the recent cartridges that fit in V5 as well as V7? They are waterproof, making V5 a good deal.

Not water proof imo.

I absolutely love V5 too but they consistently die on me, hence the shift to V7

V7 is the greatest invention of Human kind.

Don't get the hype with V5 and V7. Tried both, found them to be okay. Trimax better, Linc Pentonic best.

Pentonic has both a ball and gel, if I’m not wrong?

Yep. I use the gel one, simply the best for me.

@Luffy I have a Schneider Topball 811 that I'm currently trying out. The pens being delivered tomorrow are Schneider 0.6mm One Business Roller Ball.

@dwightschrute I've heard about thin pens causing a lot of hand pain after a 3-hour exam. Have you written any with Pentonic Gel?

I have never been able to use ball pens. Let me try some pens from this thread.

Try roller then Ink based pen like V5, trimax etc. Ball too dont scratch but their ink is more thick as compared to Gel which make them slow.

@The Mechanic just ask for a pilot cartridge. Nowadays V5 and V7 have the same cartridge since V5 refills are now available.

@calvinhobbes  When you are a lefty, your hand is usually on the place where you actually write. In righty, your hand is away from the paper. A hack for that is to keep the notebook slightly tilted so my hands are a bit away from the paper.

2019, V5 Cartridge, after 4 refills, roller lost hold of its nib. Haven't used it post this.

For me the biggest gripe is pens not working nicely on open sheets as opposed to notebooks. Like Pentonic works nicely on notebooks but not so good on open sheets, as do most other ball pens. Even with most of the thinner nib gel pens (0.5-0.7), they’re very unsettling and rough to use. So for sheets I prefer using roller balls or V7 but then they’re pretty dark so leave marks on the other side and even sheets below.

If you guys like thick pens, Uniball eye has abroad version. Super smooth and till now the best pen I’ve used.

There’s a YouTube channel [https://youtube.com/channel/UC68CU8oPL-YwIkeIX5bLapQ] which has reviews for several pens and since I’m still in the process of finding my pen d’affaires, a good resource for finding how thick or consistently a pen writes.
I have a hunch that it’s stupid but I’m very particular about my pens.

@SergioRamos @DeekshitaP  oh that one. That happens when you write from the top the line, not the below, right? When you bend your wrist to write

I never faced this problem because your palm will always be much below(relative to line spacing) from your fingertips over the nib.

Yes!!!!! That’s one of my biggest grip(e)s about ball pens in general. (Sorry about the pun. It just wrote itself)

Aren't Schneider, Uniball Air, Pilot G2 too expensive to use them regularly for tests? :3

I’m a top line arm bender and it’s too late to change how I write now. I do try to angle my sheet as much as possible but still that arm bend is firmly in place

@KropotkinSchmopotkin Pls do give a feedback of this. Mainly I want to know - is the ink color or weight an issue?

I am utterly disgusted with this poll. Nothing more than this poll has pissed me off this week. I am really angry because there is no option of the "the three idiots wala pen". Why it has not been included? I will raise this issue in Parliament!
