[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@rafael  Correct hai bhai OMT question is verbatim from hindu 2018 its just that they have changed 59 mtr to 129 mtr. And  parliament is not required to meet for any minimum number of days. Criteria of meeting in 6 months should not be applied to deduce parliament should meet atleast 2 days in a year.

Looks like UPSC did not like the fact that aspirants are knocking the doors of Supreme Court to defer the exam. Paper I felt more like the retribution and less like a measure of Aspirant’s intellect and awareness

@Tenacious Thank you for the reply! Can you tell me how are his IR and Economy related classes. The teachers in vision were less than satisfactory for these in PT365. While their Science and tech teacher was pure love.

@rafael I think the point of exam is to check for application of knowledge. In the examination hall, any reasonable person with basic knowledge of polity would have thought that Parliament is required to meet for minimum 2 days in year. So, the third statement is wrong. The exam is not about remembering the exact wording of articles of the Hindu or Indian Express.
The thing is not about marks but what the UPSC is trying to assess through the questions. If some verbatim recalling of a random article is being assessed then nothing can be more demoralising and demotivating.

@palindrome7 in that article they say,  cutoff marks will be lower. Around 100. Checks last time cutoff, finds around 98. MATHS STONKS!

Obviously going by forum cut off should be above 105 coz bar 3 4 people everyone scored more than it

@Tenacious But did the government not recently decided to hold a session of Parliament because it was compulsory to hold a session once in 6 months?

@Qoqo  Bhai if you are thorough with basics then analysis of Dipin sir will help you immensely in mains answer writing. This holds true for Economy and IR too.

th  reference  to  the  international trade  of  India  at  present,  which  of  the following statements is/are correct? 1.  India’s  merchandise  exports are  less  than  its  merchandise imports. 2.  India’s  imports  of  iron  and steel,  chemicals,  fertilisers  and machinery  have  decreased  in recent years. 3.  India’s  exports  of  services  are more than its imports of services. 4.  India  suffers  from  an  overall trade/current account deficit. Select  the  correct  answer  using  the code given below: (a)  1 and 2 only (b)  2 and 4 only (c) 3 only (d)  1, 3 and 4 only

How is 4 being correct if india both has CA and trade surplus for last 2 quarters? What does presently mean? What is the point of giving such a question where knowing that india has a trade surplus and following the newspaper gets you to get negatives 😂🤣

@Adi2077  above 95 is IN. Mark my words. Keep a dog by my name next year if am wrong.

Also we hardly had 45 50 people taking exam in our centre. Don't know how it is across india, but turnout was low in my city

@mehuifs  True but that does not mean there is any minimum no of days that parliament is required to meet. Look no one is 100 percent sure and this debate is nonsensical because if you are getting 95 plus removing ambiguous questions, you must start mains preparation. And even if you are not and want to appear in 2021, its not far away. If you start preparing for mains its a win win situation in any case.
