History optional guys are so quiet.. none discusses or speaks abt it😁

History wale log baki opt walo ka RR sunte hue

Kabhi aisa hi jaye ki history ki chappar phad ke lottery lagi Jaye ..kisi zamane me(2012) jaise Pali literature walo ki lagi thi..😸

Yr ye 2017 ,18 tak bhi thik thaak log le aate the 280 k aaspas marks . Jb se mains dene lga hun pta nhi koi dikhta hi nhi iss range m .

Iss bar bhi bas ek ladke k 300 aaye h. Baki sab 230-260 range m ghusa diye.

Ek toh pehle hi number nhi aate history walo k ,fir ye upsc k bewde log ulta sidha paper bna dete h history ka . Matlab marks ki baarish ho rhi ho toh fir bhi samajh aaye ki strict rkhna h isliye hard paper Diya .

@Forumite but even scaled marks are nowhere matched to other optionals 🤣
So, apt reward is there.

@Admgenalanezh The examiner gives full marks but SCALING .
Scaling is necessary for level playing field in terms of marks.
However, there is no level playing field when it comes to effort that engineering science and maths optional demands.
More than 25 thick books
25 year compilation of IAS ESE Ifos
It's really really too much
To get top marks may be equally tough in all subjects but even an average score in Maths/engineering requires lots lots of disproportionate effort vis a vis other subjects.

Ek doubt tha .Maths optional walo ko isme bhi b s Grewal solve krni pdti h kya

@Akkku Yes its rewarding.
Effort is very high but its more certain n objective.
Only Anthro scores cross Maths n engineering.
Top score of other optionals r generally lower.

@Sahilkumar i have 2 pages ready on sc roy
but i cant find answer to the question: role of customary laws in TRIBAL LIFE.

all i can see here is, folklore is regarded as prehistory of human mind. earlly intellectual evolution of human society is studied by folklore
as an MLC, govt took his advice on policy matters regarding tribals.
-in 1921, he helped resolve a conflict between british and mundas. under the parha system of mundas, they assembled in a meeting. british took it as a revolt . SC roy acted as a link between tribals and british and diffused tension
-in the oraons of lohardaga, there was a dispute arising due to the issue of bonga. the story is a bit long but oraons had a bonga symbol and the other community (caste) also used a similar bonga symbol. SC roy interevened and gave a culturally acceptable solutio to oraon.

now in general, following could be written on his understanding of tribe:
- he regarded tribe as an irrefutable categoryand had some prominent characterisics.
pure simple isolated primitive culture
-no written langauage available. custom is the code of morality
-he also highlited the instution of dormitory ie dhumkuria of oraon
-he utilized tylor's animism to explain oraon religion

again, he was influenced by boas' diffusion:
HISTORY SHOULD BE UNDERSTOOD TO APPRECIATE CULTURE. SOURCE OF HISTORY IS FOLKLORE AND PREHISTORICAL EVIDENCE
we donot write his archeological work here as it isnt asked.
-also gave a definition on caste, dont think its needed too

-he did give an evolutionary journey of oraon. i dont see how customary laws are to be explained here. oe can always be inventive.

This is no longer the scene. Check optional scores of the past 2 years.

But those who take such optionals, mostly have these as their degree subject.

just saw nk bose notes. i have 1.5 pages compressed on tribals only. could have written 4-5 more points and more  criticisms of hmta. tc das, andre beteille, v elwin views i think are missing in my answer, if i remember correctly.

its a 20 marker badly attempted.

aata hua question galat

@Philip_Marlowe It is very different .
The syllabus covered in colleges is hardly 40 % of the optional syllabus of CSE.
Moreover, the focus of colleges is also on research rather than rote learning and numerical asked in CSE optional.
By that logic, GS syllabus of all arts student must be automatically completed as they graduate but we know it's not the case.
Likewise, syllabus/pedagogy in colleges is very different from cse exam

@EiChan Bhai Upinder Singh padhi hai maine.
Kai saari books padhi hai tumlog ke optional ki.
Intellectual to hai but at ek point ke baad sabhi optional me wahi  cheezein baar baar revise karni padti hai.Boring ho jaati hain saari Intellectual cheezein.
Need hai optional ka Kaun kitna ghis sakta hai
In my opinion, humanities optional mein one of the most lengthiest optional hai history.
