CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

Some bits of theory are left, I'll do them tomorrow. Rest all done. Productivity and focus are lower than what they should be but can't complain because there has been some progress.

Targets:

  1. SFG: Test + Analysis
  2. SFG Theory Backlog - Geography
  3. SFG Prep - Ancient
  4. Test Analysis
  5. Newspaper
  6. If time, finish SFG Test Analysis backlog

Didn't think I'd miss Saturday so soon. A 5 day SFG phase 2 would give us all a lot of breathing space!

Instead of test analysis, I revised some polity and did parts of SFG test backlog. The course for tomorrow is huge and things will remain incomplete. Will have to rectify it tomorrow itself.

Targets:

  1. SFG: Test + Analysis
  2. Mock: Test + Analysis
  3. SFG Backlog - Ancient
  4. SFG Prep
  5. Polity Revision
  6. Newspaper
  7. If time, finish SFG Test Analysis backlog

What's new this week: Guilt trips about not being able to give time to optional or current affairs. At this point, it is pretty much out of my hands. Anyway, hope that rest of this week is better for others on the thread. Good day!

Hi guys! Anyone who gave Mains and now preparing for prelims? How are you doing it? Ivejust given up, my brain is just incapable of studying anymore.  It’s been 3 years…. I have just lost all the motivation to study for prelims again. The break keeps on extending. I know where to start, I have Laxmikant open in front of me… but it’s just there…I’m not actually studying. I am reading the newspaper daily though + economic survey. Also, I should be giving prelims mocks again, right? Like with all seriousness and a decent no of them?

any tips are welcome.

Do the mocks. Just the thought of reading the same Books again after a point of time in cse prep can become intolerable. Mocks come in handy here. Solve them and add to your notes any new info that you encounter. That will atleast help you gather some momentum till your mind becomes ready for dedicated prelims prep. Also unsolicited advice -  if you have qualified prelims 2 or more times you might want to wait till March end before moving to prelims prep while utilising these 2 months or so for plugging the gaps in your mains prep. All the best.

any tips are welcome.

Prelims for me is the most boring and nauseating part of the prep. I don't have the guts to start with it now. Will do so only in March.

Also, post Mains fatigue is a real thing. Particularly this year, when there's hardly any gap between mains and prelims; with no time to rejuvenate ourselves.

Right now just do the things that bring you a spark of joy along with being a teeny bit productive. This can be mains related; watching some classes/videos of areas you're weak in (Pre or Mains) etc. If even these sound undoable, read some books or watch documentaries of stuff tangentially related to the prep. You're already doing newspaper + economic survey which is good enough in itself. The whole goal is to keep doing something or the other to avoid the guilt and build up momentum. Once March hits, you can shift to a more intense prep.

If you are concerned about Prelims (understandable given its randomness), you can work on areas where you are weak at and pick up some additional sources/videos. If no particular area strikes you, mocks are the way to go. In fact most senior aspirants shift to doing multiple mocks instead of revising basic books again and again precisely for this reason (that they lose the desire to revise).

All the best!

@D503 Hey, thank you! That is actually a good advise and I think I’ll do exactly that- starting with mocks.
Well, even though I didn’t clear 2020 prelims because of CSAT, I did score way above the cut off (99) in GS. But I’m still very scared of prelims, but I get your point, I’ll work on Mains prep as well.

Thank you so much, been great help.

Hey guys!

Anyone having prior experience with Prelims and test series,  what do you think is a good/ comfortable score in the vision test series 2022?

@BelieveIT Short Answer - 70+ in Feb, 80+ in March, 90+ in April and 100+ in May should be a good score.Long and useful answer- Avoid this myopic way to look at this. No test series can prepare you for D-day since it is not a CAT-like Maths-based exam where you have to perfect your formula application. What matters is that you take note of the topics which you could not solve, especially in Polity, Economy, Geography and History (70/100 questions) and prepare the topic completely instead of noting down the solution and wishing same thing appears in the exam. Furthermore, use the test series to refine your strategy and not add to your knowledge per se, except for trivia and current affairs questions. Don't worry about the absolute score in mocks. Instead, aim on being above average in mocks if at all keeping score is what you wish to do. Hope it helps! Good luck!
